Price the RxL at Rs. 9 lakhs on-road and the Duster will lick every other SUV in the country.
I just hope that Renault have learnt their lessons. Going by what they have done in India till now, I am keeping myself prepared to read this announcement tomorrow:
"Its big. Its beautiful. Its efficient. And its only Rs. 14 lakhs!"
1. Petrol model (without ABS/Airbag) will be attractively priced to attract headline (like 'Renault Duster starts from 7.99 Lakh'). Renault must have realized that in India petrol car and specifically a SUV won't sell in big number anyway. So better price it as part of marketing gimmick.
2. 85 PS model is in all likelihood would be the best selling one. So Renault may try to price it profitably (to recover some cost from the petrol model). I expect it to be around 10L (ex show room).
3. They would then try to price the 110 PS model aggressively to appear it as VFM w.r.t. existing SUVs ( a la Scorpio & Safari). My guess: around 11 Lakh.
