Raja, i compared duster with a dzire and indigo cs. Skoda Rapid , VW Vento etc are 1.6l cars which are considered to be the segment leaders. I dont think that a person looking for a premium sedan like Rapid would choose Renault Duster as an alternative.
Let the sales figures show who is going to get the punch after the launch of the duster
Soon after the launch of the Safari storme , its said that the present safari would be made available with new feature lists and a newer price tag too. Its expected that the present safari would be priced as to compete with the expected SUVs from different manufacturers.

If you say that sedan lovers will go for sedan no matter yes I agree but your point was about the length dezire can be compared with ecosport as they are sub 4 meter cars the duster is not . People who have a family of 5 and want a nice suv with great mileage the duster is great option much better then the Scorpio or safari .

1.5L Renault engine will be tuned at 110PS the same config which Fluence carries and in Fluence with full load it does not show any signs of stress, all said this engine wont come anyway close to this side of Dicor's and Hawk's.

I understand it weighs 1200kg. So without airbags it might be an unsafe vehicle right? Because the overall dimensions suggests that apart from height it pretty much similar to other SUVs in the category.

I do agree that Duster would be the best for those familiy of 5 considering its affordable price tag that we are expecting.

as if those who had commited the purchase of their car to be regreting their decision. Some may think so. I feel they are the ones who love SUV would regret upto an extend. But with a budget of aroung 9 lakhs if some one had gone for a dzire zdi or a fiesta classic I would term it to be a rational Indian buyers sensible buy.
Again I am saying Renault India is going to have good number of customers for its Duster but not whole of the people who are going for fiesta, dzire or sunny. I compared a duster with a dzire fiesta classic etc because of the fact that they come in the same price category.

7.98 of base price in UK is excellent i am sure it includes shipping and handling charges,it will be really interesting see the pricing strategy in our market.
Duster also became the cheapest available SUV in the UK market.

Finally the Renault India website has been updated with a separate page for the Duster with the test drive tab !
All that awaits now is the price and the actual launch.

Considering the base price of Duster to be 7.98 lakhs in UK we Indians would get a lower base price since Duster is manufactured in India and are exported to other nations.

Yes it can but if we compare the power to weight ratio the story changes . All things done the success of this car depends completely on pricing and I have a feeling Renault will mess big time anything over and above 10-11 lakhs is not worth for in my view what is your take ?

the base version could compete with the LX version if it has abs . else lesser seats. less power output on paper. and high price tag along with a wafer thin A. $.$ are not quite the things going for the duster.

Launch in 2 days. Most cities have the cars in their workshops and the staff is very tight lipped about the variants and actually of the cars themselves.
A few things that I caught on while talking to the sales team:
110 PS engine car might be in 3 variants
A) Top end with leather seats, Leather steering cover and leather covered gear knob and wooden finish trims with chrome/silver highlights all around
B) Below this would be the one without leather covered seats, steering and gear knob, Black trimmings on dash and door inserts, but with Chrome/Silver roofrails, door handles and grill.
Both these variants would have the rear AC.
C) This one would be without the rear AC, black grill and body coloured door handles and black roof rails. The dash and door trimmings would also be black.
This variant would not have Alloys and ABS, EBD, Airbags as standard but would be available as an add on "Safety Pack".
I personally feel that the same would apply for the 85 PS car also.
So now the wait is till the 4th for the actual specs. I so dearly hope that the pricing is good.
