After all this Initail hype, I hope Renault wont screw up with the pricing of Duster, it still has its drawback's as we Indian's see 7 seater's as a VFM product as compared to 5 seater's.

It's not about vfm it's our mentality to get for things free for less money the duster is a better option then the scorpio any day it is more spacious then the Scorpio and what those 2 seats in the Scorpio do is make passengers restless .

French carmaker Renault has advanced the launch of its compact SUV Duster to July and had already notched up 1,000 bookings for the vehicle, so far.

The first real compact SUV from any global automaker to hit the Indian market, Duster is expected to be priced aggressively at Rs 7 lakh for petrol option while the multi-variant diesel would start at Rs 8 lakh and would cost Rs 12 lakh for the fully loaded vehicle.

The 4.3-metre Duster is one of the most awaited cars and will be packed with all features of a full sized SUV, but will be available at the price of a basic sedan.

Renault's products to date like the Pulse hatchback, Fluence sedan, and Koleos SUV has received lukewarm response from Indian customers as it still fights the legacy of the beaten Logan brand.

It has advanced the launch from the auspicious festive period in September-October and plans to bring multiple variants to cater to diverse needs of the Indian market. Renault has confirmed that the launch is pretty close and Duster would be a game changer for the French automaker, especially with its 5-seater compact SUV offering.

"Duster would be the most aggressive product from our stable, so far. We are close to finalising the details and introduce it at a very aggressive price. It will have multiple choices with the top-end model having dual airbags, leather upholstery, 16-inch alloy wheels and ABS with brake assist," said Renualt India spokesperson Rajiv Mitra.

If Renault would have played its cards well, even the Fuelnce, Pulse And Koleos had the potential to be game changers for the company in India. Mr. Mitra, PRICE is everything for the Duster.

Renault India would fetch some sales with the introduction of Duster.But if Renault wants to have a good market share and become a tough competetor in the Indian autombile industry Renault must take efforts to improve its thin dealership network.
Renault could attract a traditional Indian customer only if they open dealerships across the country which would ensure availability of After Sales Service.
Anyway I do belive that the duster SUV is going to be a game changer .
Tata thinking to make a decrease in the prices of Safari is one of the symptoms that shows a tough battle between the road beasts is going to happen soon.

Yup. A reduction in the prices if the Safari seems to be most likely. Its doing around 1500-1800 units per months and is at the fag end of its life cycle. If the base diesel Duster is indeed launched at Rs. 8 lakhs ex-showroom, Tata would have a tough time selling the Safari at current prices ( Safari LX is Rs 8.2 lakhs ex-howroom in most States).

I think Tata is planning to rival Duster with its present Safari and launch the new model ie the Storme. Reports says that if any price drop happens some of the variants of the present safari are going to be discontinued and variants with new feature lists would be offerred along with the fully loaded Storme

The pricing is going to have an important role in deciding the success of Duster. There are a lot of SUV lovers who wish to own one such beast . But all the SUVs currently in the market are too pricey. Pricing matters but as I said before After Sales Service availabilty also has a greater role same as that of price.
Renault India must provide necessary infrastructure to handle those masses who are inspired to buy Duster.

What also matters is the cost of servicing. Few people on other forums have shared experiences of Fluence servicing being charged upto 12k for oil change etc. Same will be applicable for Duster as well.

After a long long time,infact for the very first time Indian urban middle class WILL BE getting a perfect compact SUV at around 9 lakhs.If everything is straight then mighty Scorpio will get its first worthy urban competition.Mahindra will be worried,IMO.

atleast mahindra is aware of whats coming. TATA cant get one product right till now

i have been saying this for a while now M & M considers the duster as more of a competition to the scorpio than the safari/storme.

What is service interval for fluence ?

fluence and duster are 2 different cars from Different segments .is the service charges for Laura and fabia same ? The service charges will be in the range of the pulse or little bit more then it and remember Renault cars come with 4 years warranty.
