The power window switch is based in centre, near the gear lever in front (like Indica V2) & between the seats at back (like Santro). This is done to save cost. Even the doors don't come with rubber beading, hope Renault doesn't make this look like Etios UV .

I think they are working for a premium interiors, that is the reason the expo car's windows were blacked out.

Hope this does happen, else it will face same situation like Etios. And what you said may happen as it will be badged as Renault in India unlike Dacia elsewhere.

Renault Duster launched with amazing offer

Today’s all-terrain vehicles are often synonymous with bulk, but the New Renault Duster is an antidote to that idea. With a length of 4.31 metres and a width of 1.82 metres, the New Renault Duster is very compact but roomy.

Rear passenger headroom (seat cushion to roof) is 895mm, knee room is 183mm and elbow room amounts to 1,438mm, enabling it to comfortably seat three adults at the rear, where there is also ample space to fit child seats.
Depending on version, the New Renault Duster benefits from up to 475dm³ VDA of boot space, which is also very competitive. The practical, modular interior includes a folding rear bench seat, with a 60/40-split function available on certain versions. With the rear bench seat fully folded, carrying capacity is extended to up to 1,636dm³ VDA (depending on version).
There are several pack options available on the New Renault Duster,” The Modularity Pack” on the PE version is meant to enhance the driver’s comfort, as it contains 1/3 - 2/3 split folding rear bench seat, height adjustable driver's seat, height adjustable (tilt) steering wheel and height adjustment on front seatbelts.

Great for the base model and keeping this in mind the Top of the line should be well within 9 Lac.

The New Renault Duster, a strong and reliable SUV with genuine off-road ability, is available across the GCC from today (May 7), the company said.

The SUV was officially unveiled at the 2011 Dubai International Motor Show by Mark Webber, Red Bull Racing Renault Formula One driver and Mustansir Lakdawala, managing director of Renault GCC.

The New Renault Duster is a particularly versatile 4x2 and 4x4 vehicle, which combines a spacious interior with saloon-car comfort, while its compact footprint and high ground clearance ensure that it is at home in and about town as it is on country roads or off the beaten track, said a statement.

The New Renault Duster will be available in GCC in 4x2 4-speed AT and 4x4 6-speed MT versions powered by a 2.0 16V (135 hp) engine, especially tested in the GCC.

To confirm its strength and reliability, the new vehicle covered the equivalent of four million kilometers in a wide range of climates and in particularly punishing conditions. One month of rigorous testing in GCC conditions prior to launch was carried out few months ago to make sure all standards of Renault quality will be met and the vehicle conforms to GCC specifications and requirements, the company said.

Lakdawala said: “We took into consideration the needs of customers aiming to own a modern car as a badge of social progress, but what they want most of all is a robust, reliable and versatile SUV vehicle they can afford. We had to take GCC extreme climate factors into account, as well as driving conditions that could be rough and varied (long distances, jammed roads)..,so we took on the challenge of offering an all-terrain vehicle that was less complex but still reliable and affordable, that combined the design of a real 4×4 with the comfort of a saloon, it’s a very popular concept specially following the world economic crisis, which hit household budgets hard and made many people think twice before buying a new car.”

Benoit Turibe, marketing director of Renault GCC, added: “Duster is enjoying great success everywhere, since it has gone on sale it achieved more than 280,000 units worldwide, it’s present in Europe, Africa, India, South and Latin America.”

Just had a talk with a dealer and according to him the launch of the Duster would be in July. He was not forthcoming with any other info. So it looks like that after all the launch would be sooner than the festive season. 3 cheers for that.

What I have seen is there is price diff of 30% or more for cars price in middle east & India. If this happens in case of Duster, then the base version will be priced at 9L, top end at 11L. This doesn't sound good though. Lets see once it is launched.

The introductory price of the Duster's petrol version could be under Rs 6 lakh and the diesel version little over Rs 7 lakh.
The production of the car expected to starts during July and may begin arriving at dealerships in August.

I got a call from Renault yesterday morning. They informed me that they expect booking dates by June end or max early July.

BTW, I had been there to enquire about Renault Fluence, but couldn't drive as steering got stuck & knees were hitting dashboard. Heck, hardly any cars below 15L are comfy these days.

Do car cos expect one to take out Mercs everywhere ?

I went to the dealer in Andheri mumbai. They said the launch would be anytime before 21st July. The price will be in the range of 8-12 L. They did not much tell about the variants but my guess would be a 4x2 to start with and at a later stage they will introduce a 4x4.

Then it will be wiped out by Storme and new scorp. I don't think people will put 12L on Renault and that too on cheap UV like duster. Remember that it remains Dacia elsewhere.

I did talk to the dealer here and have been led to believe that the first deliveries of the SUV would be in the 1st week of July. The vehicle would be available for a TD in the last week of June and the price would be in the range of 7 to 12 lacs.

From a very different source, the expected price is said to be as quoted, "The top fo the line Duster will be the same price as the base model XUV 500. Now to my mind that really is not very good. Like S Class said, at the end of the day it still is a Dacia. Though Dacia makes very cheap cars the general response in Europe also is.... Can u buy something else? The chief complaints for the Duster abroad are
1 Body Noise
2 Underpowered.
