IMHO, It's an utter waste to spend 7.85 Lakhs on Grand i10 which is IMO, is nothing but Hyundai is cheating the people in the name of some stupid features. It's a 3 cylinder engine and is not worthy for that amount. Honestly, There are really some great deals out there in the market today if we want to spend that kind of money.

Why would anybody forced to take ABS and Airbags as optional even though when they are buying top variants? Instad of Alloy Wheels, Keyless Start and other loads of features, they would have enforced ABS as standard thing atleast in their Sportz and Asta Variants.

Well, take for example Liva, Amaze, they are offering ABS as standard feature in their diesel versions. Likewise, Punto, Figo, Ritz, Micra, Sail etc are offering their ABS editions at lesser or similar price than Grand i10. And most importantly they are much better cars in terms of safety, engine, space and build quality at that price. So, Why shouldn't we think the Hyundai is cheating the people in the name of features and not providing the basic safety thing in their Grand i10 cars even though that is priced high above than many 4 cylinder diesel engine cars with ABS?

The asta model ( top end ) comes with abs , and airbags the one which iam suggesting here .

Can you please provide a breakup ? Of the features and price please ?

Which cars precisely ? 7.85 is on road price in Mumbai not ex showroom for a fully loaded car with safety features .

List the cars which have price lower then grand i10 please and also the features . Don't say " we" because right now only " you " are thinking that Hyundai is a cheat .

And how all this relates to Hyundai being a cheat ? Is ford a cheat for making a 3 clyinder ecoboost engine ? When the fiat t-jet is cheaper then that ? Is VW cheat for making the polo 3 clyinder ? Is Nissan a cheat company for making the micRa a 3 clyinder car ?

@ raja - ABS and airbags are optional on the asta :| you have to shell out more to have these safety features.

?
i agree safety features are a must. but at that price and providing these features is itself a great thing.

Gentlemen,

Thanks a lot for all your inputs. After lot of confusion, going through numerous brochures, comparing various versions, test driving many vehicles, negotiating with various dealers I finally booked FORD FIGO TITANIUM, kinetic blue color
Asked the dealer to deliver it on Dussera 13th October

The dealer gave a very good deal, also bought spare wheel with alloys (With additional charge)
2+1 year extended warranty
Did not opt for standard accessories
Requested the dealer to try for good year tyres.
Waiting for the cars now

Hope the decision turns out to be good one for me.

I again thank each one of you for throwing lights on many issues and providing alternatives to choices that had.

Cheers

Hearty Congrats mbendre. We're glad that we could help you in choosing the car. That's an excellent choice. As a former owner of Figo, I will tell you, you will have miles of happiness with this excellent car. All the very best mate. :)

Thank you for your kind words, Raja. I appreciate that. [:)]

Coming back to our previous discussion, Figo, Ritz ZDI are top models in the above list which have ABS+EBD, Airbags, Alloy Wheels, Steering Mounted Controls.

I once again say, my comparisons are with 4 cylinder diesel engines as I ruled out 3 cylinder engines in my comparisons. I've only chosen the 4 cylinder engine cars whose have safety features which are similar priced to Grand i10 diesel. My simple question is when 4 cylinder engine is available with safety features such as ABS & EBD, Airbags for more or less with same price as Grand i10, why anyone wanted to choose the lesser powered 3 cylinder one? If You ask me, I would never choose/recommend Grand i10 diesel for that price.

BTW, I just noticed Hyundai Grand i10 doesn't have EBD. [frustration]

So, Once again, I would say, It's a complete waste of money to spend the money on Grand i10 diesel version.

The 3 cylinder engine gives better fuel economy . The car is new and fresh the interiors are class leading , the fit and finish is awesome . And the engine has nil to zero turbo lag which is excellent for city driving .

first you said that hyundai is giving worthless silly feautures and you can see that the top end comes with all safety feautures .

And you dint answer how is hyundai cheating us ? They are not selling us a tomato instead of car right ?

And just because the car dosent have EBD it is worthless ?

The swift is priced higher then top model of grand i10 doesn't even get rear parking sensors does it makes swift worthless and is maruti cheating ?

Its ok that you personally don't like or prefer the grand i10 , but that doesn't mean hyundai is cheating .

For some engine capacity matters for some interiors , features and fit and finish matters too .

P.S - I don't have a Hyundai car nor even planning to buy one . Iam planing for a SUV so there is no bias involved in promoting hyundai .

Shure, I would agree with that. But for the highway driving you terribly see the difference. If it was priced lower than many 4 cylinder diesel cars, then it would have been VFM car.

Which cars have Ebd ? In the same price range ? And you dint answer how is hyundai cheating us ? They are not selling us a tomato instead of car right ? And just because the car dosent have EBD it is worthless ?
All the cars I've mentioned above (Except Sail-UVA) are having ABS+EBD and they are priced more or less similar to Grand i10. Well, giving a lower product and squeezing more money is nothing but cheating. EBD is one of the most important safety features in the cars. If it lacks, yes definitely its worthless for that kind of big money.

The swift is priced higher then top model of grand i10 doesn't even get rear parking sensors does it makes swift worthless and is maruti cheating ?
Well, Swift is bigger car and much powered and proved engine and having ABS+EBD and Airbags. So, It's worthy.

Its ok that you personally don't like or prefer the grand i10 , but that doesn't mean hyundai is cheating .

No, It doesn't matter whether I like it or not. But for that kind of price, IMO, Grand i10 is a substandard product especially considering it's a 3 cylinder diesel engine and lacking EBD.

BTW, I'm planning an i20 diesel in the near future. But that doesn't mean, I would be biased to Hyundai and it's products. Being a member of the forum like this It's our bound duty to rise our voice and alert the people.

Thanks for very nice conversation with you. Once again, Let's wish mbendre the very best and looking forward for his feedback/review on his car. [:)]
