Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Good to know that you got the car polo_owner. Please ask about the problem from mechanic as it would help polo owners on the forum.

I hop everything is covered under warranty
I had to pay for the coolant but rest everything was covered under warranty. Also I spoke to the mechanic over the phone he told that the main problem was fuel pump, the fuel needs to always be pressurised to reach the engine, when the car is standing for long time like 10 hours + the pressure drops, so it takes longer (long cranking ) to start the car.
There was a loose coupling/leak in the pipe connecting the fuel pump. Once this is fixed all the other things are also fixed. No more check oil warnings or anything else.

One question to the forum though, does the check engine light is on when the car is not running. Meaning once you insert the key and rotate it but not start the car, all the lights flash first , but after some time (like a sec or two) all the lights go off except for check engine light, battery and parking indicator, does this happens to everyone? The engine warning light goes off once you start the car though.

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Filled tank full diesel today in evening :)

Diesel sale price in Delhi: Rs. 40.91 per liter

Total amount paid today for tank full to tank full: Rs. 1420

KM reading on trip meter today at the time of filling: 608 KM

Total diesel filled today in liters: 34.71 Liters

Average Fuel efficiency till date: 17.51 KM per liter of diesel

Above drive was for office commute only in Delhi's bumper to bumper traffic.

That's amazing in first 10 days what say?
@ToughGuy. Hi !!!

Rs. 40.91/- per litre diesel means normal diesel not the premium one right?[confused]

If that normal diesel then in the the VW owner's manuel advices to use the premium one, did you notice that?:stupid:

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Hi guys

Got the results!
The service guy called up and said that the problem was due to the loosening of the fuel nozzles and diesel spraying out causing white fumes as it burned due to the heat of the engine. He said the problem is rectified. Will go tmrw to check out.

One of the mudflaps is loose. He says that all four need to be replaced.
Does it? If yes the cost please?

Are there any software updates for the polo 2011 may model.

That's it for now.

Hi,

Yes that's normal diesel, i am not sure about what manual says on this but i confirmed about this during delivery of my car and they recommenced normal diesel for my Polo till date she is running perfectly on that and crossed 11500km in less than 5 months without any fuss.

Also premium diesel is available at few pumps in Delhi.

hi toughguy. How much quantity does windscreen washer tank can hold ? Generally how many days does it comes. Because today when i used only some foam with bubbles came when checked it it was empty. And i was surprised from 3 months i have used only 5-6 times how soon it gets empty . And more thing weather we can use the Colin mixed with clear water can be used or we have to purchase it with the dealer, and any idea about the price.

Wow ToughGuy!! 11.5k kms in less than 5 months[clap]. you are really crunching miles with your Polo. Mine just completed 3100kms today in 3 months. So now we can expect your first service report also soon maybe by next month end by looking at the kilometers your clocking.
Love this about new age diesel engines. If you remember i had asked you of any precautions to take as i am going out of town for 15days. Well i left in a hurry and could'nt give my keys to any of my cousins here. Come after 15days, first crank and the car starts up like everyday. No fuss, Nothing. Had it been my previous ride, Indica V2. i am sure i would have sat there for a good 10minutes for it to start.[:)]

I too got washer fluid filled in couple of months time from VW for 250 bucks (approx), after this i usually top up this with normal water but same is not so effective, usually i rarely use windshield washer in city drive they surely require on highway drive.

You can also mix normal shampoo with water for better result but i suspect they may damage windshield mechanism.

Thanks GM88, now crossed 12000KM my Polo covered more than 500 km in past couple of days, my Polo may also cover more than 4000KM next month if i took my her on Mumbai-Shirdi trip :)

i will surely post my first service experience with my Polo.

Good to see you back from your trip and i am more than happy to know that your car starts up in first crank itself, this is the magic of new generation diesel engine they are much superior than their petrol counterpart.

After seeing yesterday's weather i took half day off from my office and enjoyed the monsoon to its fullest on Delhi roads in my Polo below are the pics:

My car is now 160 days old out of which she is at service center for 15 days for two minor accidental repairs hence i drove her for 145 days and covered 12094 km so far, which came at 83.40 km per day quite less for me as my target was 100km per day :)

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Those are some really beautiful pics of your Polo enjoying the Delhi monsoons.[:)]
Average of 83kms a day[surprise] . Wow!! Thats a lot. Great going. You are close to the 100kms mark you had set for yourself.
Any monsoons precautions to be taken for the Polo? My car stands in the open all day and i have really never used the car cover for it. And yes monsoons are a horror for the Polo's beige colored fabric interiors. I have already stained my front two seats. Need to get them dry cleaned from some shop here or can you suggest a good stain remover for them.

Thanks GM88 for appreciating my Polo's pics.

I also park my car in open both at office and home no special precautions, i suggest you leather/faux leather seat covers to protect your original seat covers, i have leather seat covers which is easy to maintain and clean.

Also i ensure car cleaning twice both in morning and evening for this i hired two car cleaners one at my home and one at my workplace, evening guy at my workplace cleans my car from both inside and outside daily (except Sundays), i am very particular about this.

For stain removal i suggest you to visit local car cleaning shop (car washers) nearby to your home they will take 100-200 bucks for removing stains from seat covers and roof, they use some chemical for same, or you can purchase a 3M stain removal product and can do yourself at home if you want.

Thanks ToughGuy for the advice. Yes i am taking my car to the car washer today. Lets see if they can remove those stains from the fabric seats. I am not a fan of leather upholstery as they don't suit the epic heat we have in the north India. I was planning to use these original for the time being and then get some other nice fabric based seat covers only maybe by early next year.

Getting the car washed twice a day, You would be having a lot of swirl marks on the car body , clear coat gets removed. I suggest you to get it waxed every week if u plan to wash the car twice a day. Otherwise I suggest get your car washed only once a week

Re: Ownership Review: Polo 1.2 TDI Comfortline (Diesel)

Today morning i got a call from VW representative regarding the Free Monsoon check up for all the VW cars so he asked me bring my car too with prior appointment. When i asked him about the wind screen washer that was not there in my car or should i say very little i hardly used it once or twice and asked the same he said to bring the car and it is free of cost. And there are some 10%discount on some products like window visors, sunfilms , floor mats mud flaps and new music system with integrated maps etc. This check up camp would be held till some august 1st week or 2nd week.

Any one has any idea about the window visors or how it would be on polo any one had tried that thing. I will be visiting the work shop for free check up camp next week so thought some one give better idea about the visors thing.

I do the same. I wash the car once or a couple of weeks. But yeah, interiors get dirty very easily. I am also thinking about going for a dry clean..

Check this http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f.../1739-volkswagen-polo-road-test-review-5.html

Window visors- they are generally called door visors. I think they won't look good on polo and I don't know the advantage of these visors either. You mentioned new music system, please share about this after you get done with monsoon check up.

Damn these VW guys never call me for check ups:mad:

As per my experience with my previous cars in past, In any case there will be swirl marks on the body of car even if you choose for weekly wash or single wash a day the quantum also looks the same.

One has to take care on method of washing, i ensure that all the dust were removed first then two coat of a bucket of fresh water wash with the help soft cloth all this takes 45minutes to hour for single wash:)

Check the car body pics below, still after all this care nominal swirl marks are visible on car's body white certainly is tough to maintain as dust are easily visible. Silver color car is best suited for Indian condition.
