New Honda Brio SMT - Ownership Review

I booked my New Honda Brio SMT UT and finally settled entire cash today. Getting delivery of the vehicle possibly by next week. Today after i settled the amount the dealer called me and told that now SMT is being sent as New SMT with electrically adjustable ORVM and I will have to pay additional 14,000/- !!!! And he says there is no other SMTs without electric ORVM. I need good opinions whether to go for it. or ask for more freebies/accesories or to complaint honda regarding this communication gap. Initially as diwali discount I was promised free insurance worth 12,400/- and free accesories worth 5,000/-

Even though i do not have time to check this forum often, i must say that members of TAI have been instrumental in helping me choose Honda Brio. I am glad i did. And for those who are curious i finally brought Rallye Red colour. Its been a pleasant ride until now.

The main reason i am here is because i need you guys to help me regarding two issues.

1.My Brio is still running on Temporary Registration in Hyderabad for almost a good 45 days. Some one told me that i have to get it registered within a month or else i need to pay some fine. Is that true? If it is how much will the fine be in Hyderabad?

2. My car got scratched twice once by an auto-rickshaw and once while reversing the car. When i heard about it my heart skipped a beat. I couldn't stop thinking about it but realized that it is very common especially in Hyderabad. One of the scratches on the drivers side of the door is pretty deep while the other scratch is not as bad as the first one. Luckily there are no dents. I have heard about com-paint Aeroaids Corporation - Com-Paint Touchup Spray Paint, Aerosol Spray Paint Manufacturers from another thread in TAI and decided to try it to paint the scratched area. They have Rallye Red colour for Honda. Please tell me if it is advisable to use com-paint as some of the scratches on my car are pretty deep. Any other solutions are welcome.

I too own red brio and from hyderabad.

1. The fine will be 100 rs (Permanent registration after 30 days from invoice)

2. Com paints are ok but we can find the color difference.

By the way which place are you from?

Will the fine be 100rs even after 2 months? Or will it increase as the number of months keep increasing?

I just want to get the scratches covered as i dont want them to be seen. Is there any other alternate method to touch up the scratches in such a way that the scratches get covered and there wont be any color difference. Some of the scratches are pretty deep as i mentioned earlier. How about getting that scratched part/area repainted by a Honda Dealer[thinking]? Will that be expensive?

It was the same reason, i joined the forum a few days back and read almost all threads on Brio and even on other cars. Really loving the experience.

I created a spreadsheet to compare all the cars within the 5 lakh budget and their variants and features and guess which car fit perfectly in? The Brio Of course ;)

Few queries
1) How much mileage does the card return in the city with AC on (Sorry if this has been answered already)
2) How much does the front and rear bumper protectors cost. I see sudeep.roy has got it on his car
3) The double DIN OE music system, does it have an Aux or Sub woofer out so that I can connect an AMP and Sub woofer?

On your Questions:
1) I haven't got my vehicle yet. However, going by the posts in this forum, you can expect 11-14 in city and 16-19 on Highway : both with AC on and depending on the way you drive and traffic. It would increase after you roll up your odo to 4 digits

2)I got them as free accessories. The accessories sheet of my dealer says that body colored side protectors are for 6500 and bumper protectors for 4000. Sudeep.Roy also mentions price of accessories along with its pics, which is very useful and you could go through that on the initial pages

3) No idea about this one. Nothing on front, maybe something on back side.

To Sudeep and other Proud Honda Brio owners ....

I am in your august company and love by Brio SMT as much as you do. However wanted to check whether you are facing any issues with the gear shifts ? I think there are some problems with the clutch-gear system as the 1st gear does not engage smoothly and I need to push hard to engage. Observe this to happen most when the car is setlled for a long while (overnight for example). Also, what kinda mileage are you guys getting in the city ?

Congrats on your new Ride.
The gear Shifts were a bit nudgy for me too in the initial days. I have done 5k kms till now and I feel its much better than before. My car is due to second service soon, I hope it just gets better with time.
The gear box does take some time to settle down in any new car.

In city I am getting close to 14 in peak traffic conditions with AC.

Before you decide to use the spray ons, check with the dealer how much it would cost to get it done. If you have zero dep insurance, you can get it done FOC.

It is difficult to ascertain the damage without seeing, so if possible, upload some pics of the scratched area. If the scratched are very deep, I think it might leave patches with the application.

Congrats on your new ride.
The electrically adjustable mirrors are totally worth it. Go for it, however try to negotiate with the price. I had read about this sometime back and was supposed to cost 11-12 k extra.

Yes Rahul, I am sure you can.
I got a broken mirror replaced through zero dep insurance. You will pay 1k (standard processing fee) + tax.

before using your zero dep , do compare the cost involved from outside visa-v the no claim bonus you will forgo next year. Also i read there is a cap on number of claims you can get per year. Hence make your decision taking into consideration everything.

its not the dealer or service center people, u need to read the finer print in your insurance policy and check with the insurance guys for more clarity.

better be safe than sorry if later on and god forbid, there is a major accident.

It is clearly mentioned that no of times we can claim under zero dep policy (add on: depreciation sheild) in a year is 2 times.

But when i call to to Honda assure (180026662666) they said we can claim "n" no of times in a year bumper to bumper 100% claim irrespective of whether glass or plastic part, provided every time you need to pay processing fee of 1000 Rs.

It is not wise to think about the no claim bonus, coz for the first year it will be 20% of premium so approx it is 2400 rs. If the cost of damage is more than 5000 rs you can go for claim.

If you gel well with the service adviser (be in touch regularly) we can claim both old and current accident in a single claim (provided no rust on previous one).

I am from Moosapet.

The fine will be 100 rs only upto 2nd month. Don't know the fine after 2 months. If you want i can provide you the RTA agent number.

Do you have Zero dep insurance, if so you can repaint the scratch areas.

have you purchased the vehicle from Pride Honda?

If so they will give good advise.
