Thank you sudeep (sorry for the late response)[sleep]
I booked Honda Brio SMT on Muthoot Honda Quilon ., they offered me some discount due to the celebration of Honda on the achievement of 5 Lakh customer. And the offers are Free insurance and exchange bonus ( Exchanged my old Swift Lxi ) So the on road price is 2.71 L
Initially I thought of white... then changed to Alabaster Silver.., I think the white is not metallic [roll]
The informations and the experiences that you shared here was very helpful for me to select this vehicle
The pleasure is mine Ajith.

Do share some pics of your ride when you can. Please keep sharing your experiences.
I wish you many happy miles ahead.

Hey buddy,

I really feel sorry to hear this, and I can understand how much it hurts.
From the pic, it looks like there is a crack, not just damaged paint job.
So, if you go to Honda, they will replace the entire bumper. I am not sure how much will be covered by your insurance, and how much you will have to shell out.
Do this,
1)As Naveen said, take an estimate from your local mechanic.
2) Check with your dealership, if you can upgrade your insurance to zero dep, since the car is very new, this might be possible. (Talk to them over the phone, and don't even give them a clue about the already occurred accident)

If this is possible, then you will end up paying roughly 2.5k for the added coverage and 1k for the claim, and you will get a totally new bumper and will be insured for any further bruises.

If not possible, then the only option is to either get the work done through the normal insurance claim or through your local mech, which ever is cheaper, I am assuming the former should be a better option.

Please keep us updated.

Hey Sudeep,

Was a bit late to reply on the insurance comments posted by You & John. Sorry abt that.

Gives a comprehensive idea, your discussion. Thanks for the same. As you said, is it possible to upgrade to the Zero-Dep insurance right now or can I go for it during the next renewal as well??
Why dont the dealers give an idea abt Zero-Dep insurance during purchase?? Just so that it might be a loss for the insurance co. during a claim?

Also incase if the vehicle meets with an accident (minor scratch, dents, etc.), is it mandatory to file an FIR before claiming insurance?? What cases does an insurance not cover??

Hi.
I talked over the phone to the dealer. She said that zero dep can only be taken next year.
Also got an estimate from local mechanic. He said that the patch up work will cost rs2000 and the bumper will look newlike.
i also got advise from some wise heads to not claim insurance for minor accidents as it will lower the after sale value of the car and also i wont get any insurance bonus.

Yep, get it done outside.

I am sure your No Claim Bonus (usually 20% of the insurance premium) will be more than 2k, so doesn't make sense claiming insurance.

No Worries Santosh.

From Prat's last post, it is evident that you cannot upgrade it now. You can however go for it during the next renewal.
Not sure why dealers don't mention about it, but I guess that they want to show a lower on road cost, just because other dealers would do that as well out of competition.

And a big NO. You dont have to file an FIR to claim insurance for repairs. It is only when you want to take legal action against the other party involved in the accident.

Insurance generally covers all types of accidents & damages apart from things like natural calamities, riots etc.
