The FE figure's quite mercurial, tho not at all worrying. In bumper to bumper traffic it plummets down to 10-12. On the highways, the car sports a figure between 20-24.
KMs clocked so far : 1350.
Ya, It fluctuate a lot. But it might be the case with other cars too. But FE meter is what making us aware of it. :)

Yea, the AC On/Off button does tend to heat up a bit. Have noticed that on a few occasions, tho not all. I dont think it's a major cause of concern. If you are apprehensive, bring it to the notice of the associates during the next servicing.

Installing Autocop in the car today. Got an appointment for installing the gear-lock tomorrow. More updates on these 2 elements by Saturday.

The body colored side-protectors (running thru the length) are not available in the market, as per the dealer. Double checked on that. Has a waiting period of 10-12 days.

During the 1st service (May'12), the car had clocked some 300-odd kms. Honda has suggested a service in Aug'12 (paid). With the car just clocking 1300-odd kms, is it necessary to give it for servicing?? I dont think any of the oils need to be changed till 5k Kms atleast which might be done during the 2nd (officially free) service. . which is due in Oct'12.

Kindly suggest.

As far I have heard from them for brio:

Its 1000K - 1st service
10000 - 2nd service

There is no need for any service in between, except any niggles.
In fact when you give in for first service, should have made sure to complete close to atleast 900kms, else does not make much sense servicing with so low kms. But anyway we are forced to do so as to avoid warranty issues

Please keep us posted after the autocop and gear lock installation and the cost. When I inquired, they didn't had the gear lock and also they say autocop cannot be installed on high end version (mine smt(o) ) and its possible only on EMT, not sure why. I guess yours is a smt too
As far mileage is concerned mine is constantly between 15.2 to 15.6.
Travel time:
Morning 7:30am - Low traffic (avg speed 50)
Evening 4:30pm - Heavy bumper to bumper traffic
I guess this is the best extracted mileage in heavy city traffic. Waiting for the second servicing to see if it goes up. One of my colleague who has a Ritz diesel gets only 16 Kmpl in Bangalore city. So 15 for petrol car seems not bad

Got this bit of information from another review site, if this can help somebody

Congrats on your purchase GPA. I have a Brio SMT and your mileage figures are quite comparable to what I am getting. And yes, even I expect the mileage to go up after 2nd service/oil change. However, initially I was getting a very low mileage (9.5-10) and on sending the car to Honda service, they did something called "Idle run procedure" which was recommended by Honda to sort out mileage issues. So if you get concerned with mileage then it might be worth checking if its done on your car as well.

Hey Santosh,

Fixed the AutoCop already?? How is it & how much ?

As far as service is considered, just follow your owners manual blindly.
1st Service 1K Kms or one month which ever is earlier
2nd Service 10K Kms or one year which ever is earlier

I personnely would never like to change the gas pedals, i feel its not good, it may obstruct while on drive or even may come out while on drive. It may not but donot want to take chances specially as iam a novice. I feel the stock pedals are the best unless it worns out fast and leaves no grip.
Yes the gear knob and hand brake looks cool and should look good [:)]

I think second service is after 6 months or 10k whichever is earlier, i will double check it today

An update about my brio:

I never reset my trip meter since purchase. Today morning when I reset the trip metre the mileage metre also turned zero. Then as i started driving towards office, the mileage started increasing gradually. Once I reached office to my surprise it showed 20.3. But after reaching the parking basement i idled for few minutes to find a parking slot and then then moved to and fro to park, during that period mileage metre lowered to 19.6 or something. Now not sure if this is the correct mileage. Before reseting trip metre the mileage was constant at 15.2 - 15.6. I will do one more tank to tank to confirm the actual mileage. I feel mileage in tank to tank will be little less compared to mileage metre due to the fact that petrol is volatile and then further none of the petrol bunks gives the exact quantity, it will surely be lots of milliliters less.
Safe driving

Finally, the security elements were installed last saturday.

a) Autocop Piranha System - 4k (3 years warranty)
b) Autocop Mul-T-Cop Pin-Type Gear Lock - 1.5k (5 years warranty)

The dealer confidently told me it'd take barely 2 hours to get both the elements fixed and running.
Gave him the car at 12pm assuming he'd give me the keys by 2pm .. or 3pm max based on IST niggles.
The Auto-Cop execs fixed the security system with ease. What took time was the gear lock. They had to check the adjustments quite finely from in & under the car. Took around 4 hours to get this job done but the cherry on the top was the fact that the car can be termed theft-safe (or so we speak). [;)]

The Gear Lock is a basic pin type lock (pic attached). Once you park your car, get the gear on reverse and just slide the pin which locks automatically. Unlocking is a simple procedure for which a key is provided and the pin comes out with ease. The gear lock console is compact and does not brush your leg or the driver's seat.

The Gear Lock is sufficient to discourage any attempts of car theft. The reason I went for the Piranha Auto Cop car security was due to the glass (all sides) sensors provision. Incase of a break-in (or tampering), the buzzer goes off for 5 minutes. The Piranha comes with its own lock/unlock key, so the lock/unlock on the car key is best not used (tho, it can be).

Additionally, I purchased a set of dark beige front and rear floor mats (washable, pic attached) for 2,000/-, Vacuum Cleaner for 750/- and a Car cover for 500/-.

Thanks for posting this valuable piece of information. Will surely get it checked.

I guess the car will start sporting its actual fuel efficiency after the second service or after crossing 5k kms. Till then its a wait-n-watch game [:)]

I also wanted to discuss the insurance and extended warranty deals with the both of you (and anyone else who'd wish to shed light). This in terms of what does the insurance actually cover (or not cover) and what is the extended warranty for? The dealer might or might not divulge all the details hence it's better to be street smart.
Also is it better to go for a zero-depreciation insurance? (which I recently got to know abt).

Time for Some More Accessories.

Planning to Change my Gear Knob, Gas Pedals, Hand Brake cover from Stock to Sparco tomorrow.

Please check these links and let me know what you think folks..

SPARCO-SPC

SPARCO-SPC

SPARCO-SPC
I am in love with the golf-shaped gear knob and wudn't wanna get it changed.

The pedal set and the gear knob looks cool on the website but I guess there's a fine line between cool quotient and tackiness which you'd understand only when you see the elements personally.

How much would all that cost you?? & is the blue band (or the blue areas) on the elements illuminated??

Boy, you sure are quick when it comes to revamping the car. By the time I get there, you'd have renamed the Brio [lol] Kidding, bro.

Santo,
But your car is SMT right ? Do they allow to install autocop ?
For mine (smt(o)) they said autocop not possible [cry] anyway will check again for gear lock
Yep, mine's SMT. I dont think Autocop or for that matter any car security system brand is variant dependent.

Try calling Autocop directly and ask them to install the system (incase if you need to).

Good Work Santosh, Your car has got Teeth Now!![;)]

Investing in Security is always wise. Gear lock is a very big deterrent for the thieves and I feel is a must for any vehicle.

Does your Piranha roll up the windows automatically if we forget?? That's a feature I would like to have.

The foot mats are looking really neat. Totally worth it.
Are these the 3D mats that are in fashion now a days? And whats that thing above the mat, below the pedals in the last pic??
