Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

I got a call from GM from TriStar ford and he explained the reason for charging additional incidental charges 5000 to the previous quote of 10000rs/-. It is for underbody anti-rust coating, Teflon and engine protection coat from 3M with 5 yrs warranty. However there is no redemption on 10000 incidental charges.
Is it worth paying 5000rs/- for above list and how far they are useful.

Zakher from ford gave me a call and said incidental charges have to be paid but it is 6500/- the GM is also in conference call he said as per our regional officer quote we are charging 10000/- which we have explained earlier in one of same case. Finally zakheer said he will contact regional officer and will get back to me soon...

check rates from 3m first. since you live in coastal area get the underbody anti rusting done from 3m only and not from the showroom.

teflon is nonsense.

did you send a new tweet ?

Finally they are charging 6250/- incidental charges which even zhakeer @ ford insisted to pay.

I have decided not get anti rust from show room and will sure get it done at 3M only

What about engine protection coat? Is it really have any benefits.

Hyundai had offered engine coat for my i10, but I went against it. I don't think it's that useful.

Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

If this is true then this is something like giving airbags from one hand and making the cars prone to losing control/overturning on tight corners or sudden heavy maneuvers or even hard braking in certain cases. Believe me, even ABS also can't help much in this case.

Even the humble M800 and Alto have this small piece of metal which does nothing but takes care that the weight is well distributed between the front wheels (Yes, it helps in keeping the front end stable by not letting more than acceptable load to transfer to the outer wheel) and hence helps the wheels retain a decent amount of grip. How it helps? Well, hard cornering, sudden braking or hard maneuvers, it helps in all the cases.

To be very true, if Ford has removed this specific part then this will be considered an unethical practice IMO. This car can easily turn into a kill machine with the power and performance on tap. Slight enthusiastic handling and the things can go out of sync in no time. A good population control measure [;)]

Don't believe me? Well, then consult 'race car vehicle dynamics' and you will understand how important of a safety feature an anti roll bar can be.
No need man, see sway bars or anti roll bars are no way necesaary feature in a car, some cars do away with anti roll bar with stiffer springs, cars like VW UP,Skoda Citigo etc which are Euro spec cars too dont have anti roll bars in all variants, these things arent fully necessary, they just control body roll, since Figo and Aspire light cars with slightly stiffer springs it isnt necessary at all, but if therr is anti roll bars thata an added bonus, even the grand i10, Brio, etc I dont think they have anti roll bars,
The cornering stability can be adjusted with differential spring rates and brake bias as well, usually FwD cars have front brake bias, and weight concentration like 40:60 rear to front, with stiffer springs and short wheelbase and less front track one can easily stabilize car, but it will roll a lot and wont get the required balance to make it a joy at corners without sway bars, also if one is so much concerned about roll one can always retro fit anti roll bars in Figo or Aspire its not overtly expensive.

The service intervala are 1 year of 10000 kms which ever comes first,
The service charge costs between Rs 2500-7500,
Some services will cost above 15k around 20000 Rs thats when some major part change occours usually these kinds of service are done past 75000 kms and iff they are necessary, otherwise all servoce costs will be in 2500-7500 Rs range,

Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

Had a blast today after getting the number. It's a beautiful car to drive. Will post the detailed impressions soon. Sharing some snaps.

Ps: can anyone confirm glowing of engine malfunction signs before turning on ignition? A spanner and orange illuminated icon (shown in manual) flashes before running. I removed the transport mode (pressing brake pedal 5 times and turn off on hazard lights twice), now it shows econo mode. Anyone tried this?

Edit : Saw the manual. Behaviour is normal. Nothing to worry. :)

Econo mode is just the assistance of gear shift indicator.

My handling and logistics charges were waived off. Just be polite with the sales person. Don't go into much legal illegal explanation. Just tell him to waive it off over and over again shamelessly :-/.

And thanks doparu and icewise. I will certainly come up with detailed ownership review.
