Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

All,
Finally I got to see my Figo 1.5d Trend when there is just one week before delivery, I had a sick experience though, Initially I was told to go to Metro Ford at Palace cross where my vehicle was parked from the Stockyard, surprisingly it was not even there!! after waiting patiently for almost an hour after being asked to wait they told me to leave for the day as they don't know where the car was [shock]
Called up the SA next morning and asked him what is the fate of the car's whereabouts , got a call back that the car is at the showroom where I had booked, the car was there but was dirty :( because of rain in bangalore for well over weeks and wherever it was driven from, the cluster dash showed the car has been driven 31-KM, most likely from stockyard to wherever it was to showroom, also noticed the rear headrest is fixed, looks like no change has happened. Also the VIN number I was given was 4 characters, I forgot to take a proper snap of the label on the rear window sticker which probably has the correct VIN number, attached is the pic of my would be car :)

Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

Finally got my figo today. Will name it later.

The process went relatively smoother and I really appreciate the way Wasan Ford Chembur completed the formalities as promised. Handling charges waived off
Zero dept insurance at market price
Got an idol from them.
Figo cover 1377/-
Floor mats 700/-

Attaching a few snaps. Was busy doing pdi and some paper work too, so couldn't take more snaps. Will do it tomorrow or day after, but let me tell you, silver looks absolutely stunning. I had seen this car all in dust in the stockyard but at the showroom it was cleaned and polished and oh boy, it looked gorgeous.

For the guys looking to buy 1.2petrol, I will be doing a review on it just because the internet is flooded only with details of diesel, whereas the petrol is not given that importance.

On a shorter note, I drove almost 12kms from showroom to home, this engine is really a good performer almost on par with 1.2 kappa2 and k12 if not better. I am saying this since for the last 4 years I have been driving 1.2kappa2 i10. Only difference I find is engine is not as urgent as that of 1.2 kappa or k12, but as some reviews say that it's nothing to talk about, then its not so. Maybe the reviewers compared the powerful diesel directly with this petrol.

@Chiragsthakur - Congratulations on your Figo Petrol! silver ignot looks stunning!.
You are right, no body is giving any sensible review on Figo 1.2 Petrol, most of the reviewers have given importance only to Diesel, and only verbally mentioned 1.2 Petrol and 1.5 Petrol...anyway hope you have a happy driving!

Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

hi
iam going to purchase a new figo, can you please tell me from which dealer you got that deal ?
you can check with any dealer. the scheme is valid pan india.

@ chirag - congrats on your car. i too was going to buy the petrol for my dad but he felt the need of a diesel so bought it.
my car has covered 1600 kms in little over a month ( for 5 days it was parked because of no registration)
do post initial thoughts, likes and dislikes.

ps : the suspension makes a loud sound if i go a little bit fast on a speed breaker ? any suggestions? verna doesn't make that noise at the same speeds and the same speed breakers.
is this beacuase of stiffer suspension setup ?

Yes it is because if stiffer dampers and due to tires as well, the wider tires can mask some of this huge thud sounds, probably 185 sections or 195s, Verna and all uses big 15 inchers that cannmask a lot of suspension noise, for Figo and Aspire 15" wheels will take away warranty, so we are left with 14" ones, out of them picking a good 14' 185 or 195 section tire can improve ride quality, comfort, grip and sound.

Thank you. My car is going to be parked till Saturday. Will post my views later on Saturday.

The thud is due to the stiffer suspension and to some extent the anti roll bar. I didn't get it in my car yesterday while driving over mammoth speed breakers. Maybe I was driving too slow or maybe because petrol doesn't have anti roll bar.

No need to worry about that thud. We will get used to it. Ignore it as its been reported by many and should not be a problem. Characteristic stiffer suspension noise.

No way man, anti roll bars have nothing to do with suspension stiffness, stiffer the anti roll bar lesser the body roll, also beefier anti roll bars are better than slim ones, Fiesta,Ford Classic ,Ecosport have beefy stiff anti roll bars, whereas Figo, Aspire Ambiente and Trend models dosent seem to offer anti roll bars at all, since the car is light it wont affect much either,
The Titaniums are said to have anti roll bars though.

I have driven Hyundai Xcent and it too thuds over large poth holes despite having softer suspension, tge after shock isnt so immense at low speeds but at high speeds Hyundai will unsettle the cabin so violently that the passengers will get the creeps,
In Ford the best way to tackle speed breakers and poth holes is to take them with moderate speed, break before the bumps and take them at second gear,
But the best option alwaya is to change to wider tires,

Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

yeah after grand i10 every hyundai car has stiffer suspesnion compared to the earlier versions.

and yes it will take some time for me to adjust in this regard. and no the figo won't go easily in 2nd after crossing the speed breaker , the car jerks so have to downshift to 1st.
edit : it goes in 2nd in most speed breakers , just checked.

All diesel variants of figo and aspire have anti roll bars and none of the petrol variants have anti rolls bars. Confirmed by ford. Regarding a possibility of anti roll bars creating a thud on speed breakers can't be ruled out if the car front entry on the speed breaker isn't linear i.e if the car enters the speed breaker at a certain angle.

Your point is valid though

Can you believe this?

Re: New Ford Figo Trend (Diesel): Ownership Review

See Anti roll bars have nothing to do with ride comfort
Anti roll bars - How much do they affect the ride comfort?

They just help keep the car flat over corners, thr Figo and Aspire diesel are 20-30 kg heavier than Figo diesel, AT caes and hence addition of anti roll bars is good, but I still dont think Figo or Aspire needs anti roll bars, the suspension stiffness itself is more than adequate to make Figo Aspire corner well,
Figo and Aspire are best examples of light weight, short wheelbase, short hood, less front track cars, these cars usually outside India belong to a category named A cars, A cars usually dont need anti roll bars and heavy suspension as without it itself they can provide good comfort,
Even old Figo had a B chassis, the current Figo Aspire chassis are A chassis which is actually Fords smallest in line production chassis which mightnot need an anti roll bar,
If it has one well and good but the difference wont be phenominal.

That completely boils down to preference, if 1500 km per month is the running Diesel will be a better buy as one full 40 l tank of diesel can safely run upto 700 kms, while petrol can run maximum of 500 kms,
So diesel Figo is apt for the runnimg in order.
