Well, I hope the next service will lower down a bit. The only peace of mind is the 15k kms for the service.
But when compared to my cousin's Punto. This is hell lot of a money! came to know about it today only when I asked him about that.
He pays around 4-6k for 15k service. [:D]
But don't worry buddy
Its not to harm just shared that as info
even i spend to my car with 60k for past 4 months everyone see me as fool
but im satisfied and i love my car so its not a big thing.[:D]

hey Jihu, thanks for the update.

Polo diesel servicing for around Rs. 10k is not a news. Its this high only. Good part is that you didn't face any other niggles in your car and I am hopeful that it remains trustworthy in future as it has been.

About the DTE info, try to toggle reset button below the wiper control bar (I guess its there in CL variant).

So, My Car is now more than 1 year old with the first service completed [clap]!
I am going to share the experience here.

The car is doing exceptionally well. Just as I mentioned in the previous update. No clatters & no problems.
So, back to the story, I was waiting for the new Volkswagen showroom to open in my city soon after my car purchase so that I don't need to go 70 kms far for a service. As I expected, it was inaugrated on probably August or September. And my service date planned was October 3 (the date I bought the car). But later, I heard a rumor that the showroom hasn't begun the service station & it will start only by 15th. So, I thought why not wait & let my car be the first one to get serviced here. Unfortunately, the plans went flop as when I enquired about it in the showroom. They said that it will take more time for the service to start. Most probably by October end. So I wasn't going to take a chance to wait till that time. So decided to give the car for service to the same place from where I bought it! Booked for the service on October 3rd & got a date on October 17th (today). Pretty long I must say!
The Car completed around 14200km at the time of service. Felt that it was less for a diesel car! [embarass]
But anyways, got my car back in the evening & its smooth just as it was. No more & No less. 1 thing I noticed after the service was that the distance to empty metre in the display has been replaced by the outside temperature. Probably, some software changes. Gotta check it if I can get the distance to empty metre back!

Here are the service details:

Labour Details - A
  • Periodic Maintenance - 1,500
  • Consumables - 500

Parts Details - B
  • Oil Filter Polo D - 327
  • Fuel Filter 2 - 1,142
  • Air Filter New Polo D - 348
  • Dust and Pollen Filter - 649
  • Drain Plug - 73
  • Clear View - 70

Oil & Lubricants - C
  • Engine Oil-4L - 3,338
  • Engine Oil-1L - 861

KVAT Collected 13.5% - 919
Service Tax Collected-Labour - 203

Total - 9,584 (Without Wheel alignment & Balancing, it costs around 750 more. Saved a few bucks here with TAI member's knowledge [;)]. Will get it done from outside!)

Seeing the amount. I don't feel like its too much. Maybe because I knew it will reach 10,000 or maybe coz its still only 4 digits. Whatever, when you consider the service interval of a swift and polo. A swift needs service every 10,000kms whereas Polo needs it only every 15,000kms. So the extra premium for the service is not that much I think!
Hello Jihu,

Hope you are doing good

jihu congrats for crossing uneventful 15K mark and for successful first service, thanks for sharing all the useful data with all of us.

10K bucks for service is normal if i compare this with my other cars and if i take 15K service interval into account then its quite acceptable. Only thing which might pinch is the costly spare parts which might be require by the car after 3-4 years (which also is the time to change the car for few people) till then its party time :)

Any idea how i can get temp display in my TDI CL version if available?

Wishing you many more happy miles in this German beauty buddy!

Hey jihu123, great to see you completing 1 year with your Polo without any niggles. 9.5k for the service bill seems to be pretty ok as comparing to some other Polo owners i've heard from who ended up paying close to 12-13k for the first service. But the good part is now you have peace of mind for the next whole year.
Even i am curious to know as to did they do any software update to your Polo as its showing outside temperature now? If possible let us know if i can get it done on my Polo too before my first service as its still 6 months away.
Anyways, Wishing you lots more miles in your Polo ahead.[cheers]

That's right. If one loves his car, he won't be complaining about these!
And yeah, right now, I'm not!

yes, it has been niggle free & I'm pretty happy about that. Pure Volkswagen!

well, I never noticed any reset button below the wiper control bar. Let me check it once again!
Mine is the TL variant!

I visited the Kannur VW showroom & it looks really good. As far as I know, just like the calicut showroom, they seem to be quite helpful and very good behaviour towards the customers.
They have started the booking & delivery of cars but the service hasn't been started yet. The service will probably start this month end or the next month beginning (as per the info given by them)!

Well, I don't have any plans to sell of the vehicle in 3-4 years. Will have this for quite long time!
Ofcourse, the spare parts are really costly but they do last long without much niggles. German! [evil]

When I bought the car, even I tried to change the distance-to-empty metre to the temp display. But it seemed impossible. The instructions provided in the manual didn't work. I don't know how it changed after the service, but will inform you once I come to know it. Gotta check it today or tomorrow!

Wishing you many more happy miles in this German beauty buddy!
Thanks a lot again!

Yup. There will be peace of mind for the next whole year! After all, we are paying for it!

I do doubt it. They must have done a software update.
Right now, I don't know but I surely share it once I come to know about it!

Guys, after 13 months. I am going to get a seat cover for the car.
The car had been living without seat cover for these much time. Now the seats are getting more dirtier. But still not much as I have seen worse.
So, any idea on which one I should go for. I am not looking for anything damn costly. Just normal affordable ones. I am looking for a beige & black colour or else it will be full black! What do ya think? [:)]

Better go for artificial leather seats which may cost 5~6k not more than that.
If the interior color is beige, then it will be nice with the seats having beige and black combo, where the black color should be the border and beige in the center.Looks very decent IMHO.

Hi jihu123, i suggest you to check with VW for loose fit faux leather seat cover which comes in beige and chocolate combination and same may cost you around 8K, check my ownership review for pics of the same. They are easy to clean and maintain.

That looks really good & suits well. But 8k seems a bit high when I can get good one for 6k. Let me see! Thanks for the reply anyways. [:)]

Thanks for the info Yathi. 11k is high. I know it would be of better quality. But my dad won't be getting expensive ones.
I had the same accessory list when I booked my car. But lost it. Thanks for uploading again!
