If its due to AC, you should see the water seeping in drop-by-drop while you are driving (when the AC is on).

If the mats are wet while the vehicle was not driven for a day or two, and because it was parked in the rains, then certainly the water is coming in through some gap. My guess is that its coming through some opening/gap below the wiper area.

Ohk thanks i' report this to TASS ,in ur case carpet was wet all over na ?
mine is only below co driver seat

@ umalkar- nice pics in foggy weather

@ sam dinkar - even i agree with you, best place is desert [lol]

New problem has cropped up .. a few days back I started for Ahmednagar in the night and the reverse horn/lights/camera and fuel gauge stopped functioning. I strongly suspect blown fuse due to some short-circuit but am unable to figure out which fuse I should check.

The fuse box doesn't list down any fuse for fuel indicator nor for reverse lights. Can anybody please suggest what all I should check before I take the vehicle to the mechanic/electrician? Thanks.

Dear Sudhanshu,

Seems like a blown fuse for sure. The service booklet shall mention the location of fuses and the respective function of each fuse. Anyways, open the fuse box and check out all fuses one by one. Replace the fuse that you find blown. Make sure the replacement fuse has the same amperage as the blown one. Simple.

Regards,
Sam

Thanks @Sam, have checked most of the fuses, all seem good. Interestingly, the reverse horn and the lights just came on, probably it was loose contact somewhere. Hoping similar stuff for fuel guage. Though I need to find out the exact place where its loosing the contact.

Hi I am also having the same issue with the carpet area getting wet at the co driver seat. First time I found it after driving through heave rain. Then I tried to pur water at my home at high speed using a pipe. The same phenomenon occurred. But unable to find out the place of leakage. I suspect some where near the bonnet. But not sure. Can you let me know whether you have got the problem identified and rectified. If so what I need to do. On my past experience I have no believe on the personnel at Service Station. So please let me know how did you got the same fixed. Willing to also have a discussion with you. Let me know what would be the best time to talk to you if you like so. Feeling too disturbed with this issue.

Forgot to mention that I found this issue with my New Storme, 6 months old, just 5K driven. This is first monsoon. Also this is not the water from AC. I am sure that this is the rain water. I need to know whether any one of you has got the same problem rectified? If so how? What is the exact location of the gap?

Check the fire wall. the pipes running in and out may have developed some gaps in the firewall
Thanks for the advice. Does it make sense to take the car to Tata Service Station and ask those people to look into it? What do I need to specify these people? They are very difficult to handle.

Attached few photos. I kept packing papers to soak the water. See the front side is what is more wet that the long edge (That runs near the door edge). More info is that you dry it up and then place the paper there. After serveral hours you will find the paper got wet. (During that period keep the car under covered space) So it means that water is getting accumulated somewhere and leaking slowly. Am I sensing right? Please let me know what exactly I need to say to these people? If you have found out the issue then please let me know as much as details that you can, that will surely help me to get rid of this issue.

if it is in a new car it is totally unacceptable.

raise the car in lift and inspect from underbody for any removal of the cabin drain plug.
if removed and driven in puddle water will seap in.

But still your problem in new car seems strange

This is not only the new car, it's the new released version of Safari. This is the VX model with 4x4 option.

I even found that water seeps in after washing the car. First time I surely found it while driving through heavy rain, but you know it was highways and not obviously a flooded condition. So I was not expecting any water to seep in from bottom. Next time I found the same problem when I washed my car. Though I used water from bottom with high pressure as well, but my guess is that it is not through the bottom the car.

The problem is that I know from past experience that it is difficult to explain / more convince the service centre guys. So wanted to check if I can identify the issue of my own and then show them the spot / issue and prove it.

Would you please let us know whether you could fix the problem? What was the response that you received from the service centre?

Great news. Thank you for the update. Can you please let me know where is the gap? That would be of great help. I would then go to workshop and easily make them find out the gap?
How did they seal the gap? Will it be a permanent solution ? This is unacceptable in a new model, but better if we can have the same fixed permanently. Sorry for bothering you, but you can understand how depressed I am.

Thanks once again. Looking forward more details from you.
