Read the comments on this very thread maybe they read some other reviews then yours

Congrats on your growing family of gadgets. Surface 2 is one heck of a tablet from MS that got great reviews. Waiting eagerly for your review after you use it for some days.
Congratulations once again Raja, it is indeed a full blown computer laptop tablet.
Microsoft with their latest windows OS is going stong and got out the best of the lot for this lablet laptop hardware.
Awaiting to see your user experience in coming days.
I'm waiting for the third version, lol.
Better because 1st and even the 2nd are not launched in India and most probably wont be launched anytime soon .

Actually Microsoft does better with years , remember windows 7 ? better you wait for the 7th version[lol]

Who knows? Microsoft might even discontinued the Surface line. Or maybe they'll release the third version in India just like Google released Nexus 5 without launching Nexus 4?

For electronics goodS especially cell phone, tabs and camera the upgrade is very frequent and also price slashing is common. If anyone has to experience the technology and who can afford then there is no need to think what if price will reduced in couple of months or a new model will be launched. No harm in buying a product sometime on impulse rather on being calculative.

Same thing goes to car, every year a new and better models of car launched but that do not stop people to buy the current model.

Since we don't have a lot of money to spend and upgrade to these gadgets, I always make sure that the thing is worth the money and it will last for at least 2 years without hiccups.
I agree with you but see that the Surface 2 is not really an upgrade from the iPad 3.
On camera, you're wrong. It doesn't at all need an upgrade if youre buying a mid-high end one. The quality will remain same all the time and it will be able to capture everything that the new one can (I'm talking about decent DSLRs).

Although based on arm architecture, the surface 2, and iPad 3 are completely different products regarding hardware and operating systems and functionality they offer, don't know in what sense you are trying to figure out if the surface 2 can be a upgrade or not over the iPad 3? [surprise]

Btw ipad3 wad the most unreliable version of the iPad series was pulled from the market in 6 months by Apple.

In what sense (?) ? According to my usage pattern (I can't even think of it being my primary device). Everything you can do on your Surface can be done smoothly on iPad. Except flash websites. And yeah, iPad 3 still rocks on the floor, if it runs on iOS 6. Plus, I guess you just forgot the Apple App store.

FYI, iPad 3 is still the best rated tablet on The Verge (now irrevelant though). It had very very great reviews all over the internet, on many sites being the best in class and editor's choice which the Surface 2 never had (or has). In what way do you tell iPad the most unreliable iPad? Just because an upgrade came within 6months? They did it because some Android tablets were having a bit more better specs and they had to cope with the others and most importantly, they wanted to switch over to lightning port.
IMO, iPad Air is still the best tablet, would have been killer if it supported full flash and came with 2GB RAM.

Surface 2 PRO is another thing, which is different from these two. It is just a tablet computer and I don't know why it doesn't get good reviews.

Edit: Please tell me if I'm going a bit... Sorry if you find it so!

Actually apple does not like to compete they just love to better their products over last year.
The ui is pretty much the same across ipad ipods iphones so it gets boring to a few. Dont get me wrong i am an Apple fan boy my work can only be completed over a mac.

Now coming to the surface i got to play around with rajas surface today. Boy oh boy what an experience it was. Im sure most of you macbook users would find any trackpad lame to use, but the one on rajas surface was sleak and sensitive as well as smooth. The simplicity of the ui as well as ease of usability you have all of your daily just with a swipe. No need of going through various menus. For a light user theres all you could need packed into it.

Brother don't get hyper , for your kind information I am using both at this point and certainly differentiate both much better then just reading reviews of one device without even practically using it ever .

Go read the first page again and you will see I have mentioned both the tablets have their pros and cons .

For example movies can be seen on both but the surface because of the 16:9 ratio offer superior experience .

Similarly eBook reading can be done on both , but the iPad's aspect ratio is more superior to that particular task more then the surface 2 .

And the debate here is not about your iPad 3 or my surface 2 personally its about 2 devices present in the market.

Everything you can do on your Surface can be done smoothly on iPad.
Really ?
can you hook up a DSLR , mic, keyboard, point and shoot camera, mouse , ps4 or Xbox controller , USB drives , sd card , external monitors and hard drives's ,printers , USB hub in the iPad and if wanted use all at the same time ?

To understand it better kindly see the video below and tell me if the iPad can do this in its current generation ? if yes I will buy your claim quoted above.

Except flash websites. And yeah, iPad 3 still rocks on the floor, if it runs on iOS 6. Plus, I guess you just forgot the Apple App store.
First all the major apps the ones which you need are in the windows store plus the surface offers a full web experience all sites can be accessed not the dumb down mobile version .
for example Pixlr express has a app for iPad , I use the same on surface 2 via their website with exact same I mean exact same functionality on surface 2 see the pics down .

Apple app store has a head start and no one can match the app count they have . rest the surface offers desktop class web experience you can go to any website and do your stuff , which you do generally via a app on a iPad . for example I can enjoy Spotify via app on my iPad and can enjoy the same on my surface 2 via browser .

FYI, iPad 3 is still the best rated tablet on The Verge (now irrevelant though). It had very very great reviews all over the internet, on many sites being the best in class and editor's choice which the Surface 2 never had (or has).
What does that prove ? nothing absolutely nothing .

In what way do you tell iPad the most unreliable iPad? Just because an upgrade came within 6months?
Stop reading verge and visit and read the iPad 3 threads on macrumors and apple support forums , shall I post some list of threads here which shows why apple pulled the iPad 3 ???

with the others and most importantly, they wanted to switch over to lightning port. They did it because some Android tablets were having a bit more better specs and they had to cope
Seriously ? and the iPad 4 still had lower specs then android tablets. And apple never ever goes by what the competition does they upgrade as per their OS requirements or else the iPad air would have come with a 2 gb ram . and if lighting port is so imp or the main reason as you claim ,why is apple still selling the iPad 2 which does not come with the lightining port but not the 3 ?

Actually yes you are a bit , but its ok [:)]

Remember I use both the devices daily and very well understand the merits and limitations of both the devices , so I am talking with personal daily day to day experience . I love both the devices equally and hence wont buy " this is better device any day then the other " kind of talk .

I completely agree on the Surface part. (BTW I can do most of them after jailbreak).
I take back my words, the Surface 2 is just an awesome device. But it's not about the app counts, it's about how many quality apps you have. You can't say anything on that.
It'd have been killer (real killer) if it wasn't RT. No one can deny that, it is the future!

About the issues you posted about iPad 3,
Well, I didn't have any issue with it except low 3G signals when I was on iOS 6, that's why I added 'iOS 6'.

Even the costlier iPhone 4S (15K difference) lags on iOS 7!
iOS 7 is a half cooked OS, too many bugs and problem on all devices. I like the interface though.

Sorry bro. If we go on like this, this won't stop. Both of the devices are good for different people. I was just expressing my views, but iPad Air is the best one for me. However, my dream device is a Surface with at least GT 750M, so that it can game at low settings atleast. If a device with a discrete GPU comes, the iPad will be kicked out.

Have you used any metro store apps ? Have you used hyper , flipboard , bing news , nook , Facebook , metro tube , fotor , fhotoroom apps on a windows device ? Forget the rt ? Until and unless there are some speciality apps , all major apps are already available and infact some are better then ipad even . Or whatever judgement you are giving is based only on games available on both platform ?

And can you hook the iPad with multiple devices at the same time after doing jailbreak ? Can you explain what you can do please ?

It'd have been killer (real killer) if it wasn't RT.
You are preaching common media talk here , what is wrong in windows rt ? Can you give me some logical reason please ?

It's a extremely fast , fluid and snappy OS with a benefit of having mo malware which is common on windows pcs . It's a same windows 8.1 OS minus the benefit of running x86 legacy apps . I again repeat the iPad also can't run legacy OSX apps .

Anybody can access full web in the rt , make serious work incase he uses Microsoft office daily which comes free . Download songs from internet , can click edit pictures on the go with some real good editors like fotor, fhotoroom. Infact hook the surface to a big monitor and do some other stuff while playing games too .

It can easily replace even a laptop incase one does not use x86 apps . Even in a crunch remote access the desktop and use photoshop or any x86 app on the go . Read and see this ->

http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonev...obably-dont-know-about-microsofts-surface-rt/

And read on forum member has to say about the 1 generation surface 1

I have it working with XP Pro sp3, runs photoshop, AutoCAD...save uTorrent files direct to your tablet, but the program is run on your server with next to no lag what so ever. Seems you can stream music from your server without lag, but don't try to do video, that def doesn't work, however you can upload direct to your local Surface drive.....And I didn't realize that when I set up remote desktop, the Surface automatically shows full access to the network server through explorer....so basically, as long as you have internet connection, your running a full portable desktop computer, should you need it to do that. Im surprised MS isn't advertising this more, this is why people should buy this device......that and the new modern ui is really great. Its lacking in the app department, but as I see it, it makes no difference, because im lugging a extremely mobile, portable version of my home / office computer. Modern UI is pretty great too, I set up separate users for myself and my wife, each account login syncs to each of our accounts, can be completely personalized, different apps. Once Gameloft, and EA games come out, this will be a tough device to beat, I really don't understand the negative reviews, this thing gets 5 stars from me.

Its pretty bad ***, probably the device ive been waiting for. And to top it off, I use the thing with typecover on my lap all the time, which is what people keep saying that it doesn't work.
Tell me now if needed can you run OSX apps on the iPad ?

So other then app count in the App Store and some specialty apps , there is nothing that the rt can't do which the iPad does infact in some cases it offers much more functionality then a iPad with a full sized USB 3.0 port , micro hdmi port , expandable storage a 2 way kick stand and build quality and materials as good as the iPad series .

No one can deny that, it is the future!
What is the future ?

Even the costlier iPhone 4S (15K difference) lags on iOS 7!
iOS 7 is a half cooked OS, too many bugs and problem on all devices. I like the interface though.
Yet you are advocating a highly unstable OS which crashes safari and even simple apps on the brand new iPad air . I suggest you more then reading web publication reviews , spend time reading user reviews on macrumors.com and then form a opinion about a product .
A web publication house has a unit for a week and mostly a unit prior to public release they have only a week to form a opinion , users live with the unit day in day out and experience the unit in more holistic way .

Only this ? Go to wpcentral.com there are quite a few more problems listed which are already sorted out by Microsoft , every month there comes a system enhancement update .

Sorry bro. If we go on like this, this won't stop. Both of the devices are good for different people.
Hope you read the opening post of the thread did you ? Here some lines from the opening post

I had a wonderful time with the iPad 2 for nearly 3 years which I had picked on the release day itself .
The only con so far in 4 days of my use I found is , like all versions of window its is not as easy and straight forward to use like a iPad or a apple product .
The windows store has all the apps which I require and used on my iPad .
Facebook , flip board , Skype , eBooks reader . Photo editors , And in some cases the apps are better then iPad too for example the mail client , nook reader , and Facebook offer superior user experience in windows 8.1 .

I was just expressing my views, but iPad Air is the best one for me. However, my dream device is a Surface with at least GT 750M, so that it can game at low settings atleast. If a device with a discrete GPU comes, the iPad will be kicked out.
this thread is about a personal review of surface 2 and questions and answer related to that not a iPad vs surface thread where you can give your opinion which is best .
gaming is not the first and only priority for tablet buyers , for you maybe not for all .

+1
I strongly agree with you Raja, this is about your perception on the device you bought, no point talking about whether you were right or not. At the end for every product there is a customer waiting it does not matter if its Nano or a Q8. [:D]

Surface 2 after using more less then a month has impressed me very much when it comes to photography .

the windows store has a some nice apps to edit pictures , and in case of serious editing one can use the browser and do some heavy duty editing with softwares similar to PhotoShop too what I mean is just see the pics posted below and after editing one can also taken them on a USB thumb drive and give to whoever you wish too .

For a user like me this is very much turning out to be as functional as a full blown computer.

For example someone like a automobile , news , tech journalist or a blog writer can take some pics on a go with his dslr ,transfer the pics in flat 10 secs on the surface via USB or sd card , edit them by even using heavy duty software via browser and post it on a forum , web magazine or a blog while sipping a coffee in a coffee shop and also simultaneously playing a car racing game in a snap view . [clap]

All this From a device which is just 450us dollars , 8.9mm thin and as heavy as the iPad 4 . only requirement would be access to internet either via WiFi or via phones hotspot.
