Congrats[clap] Looks fantastic. I guess memory could have been better even 32GB+64GB is not enough today[;)] if you are going to use them as laptop replacement. Btw, care to share what other gadgets you have?. Thanks
Ohhh yes of course I will be putting a memory card in it shortly for music and video and pics. Iam not using it as a laptop replacement per say , it has just replaced my ipad.

Other gadgets which i have are macbook air, Lumia 925( wife uses) , a BlackBerry z10, a simple windows desktop which I never use and the surface 2 now.

@Raja,
I agree with almost all the things you said.

.............

Win 8 is built with the touch interface in focus so as a tab its just fine IMO.
Thanx buddy for the compliments .

...............

Nitink would be the right guy who will guide you in the right direction concerning everything android .
@Raj

Thank you friends. I am not looking for a tablet now. I am okay with the "smartphone on the move" and "laptop on the desk" system I have now!

I am just considering the possibilities and variations.

I loved the concept of Raja's tablet - Surface2. It is small and hence portable. Plus it has the convenience of a keyboard.

The thinkpad is not very ideal, because it seems to have a full fledged and heavy keyboard. A keyboard should be integrated and light, the way it is in Raja's Surface 2. That ways it would be feasible to carry it around always.

I find Windows 8 very very complicated, so that would be a last option "if I feel like buying a tablet".

To be honest anybody who is very much invested in Google services android makes sense.

Sony, Samsung, Asus have very good android tablets, who will generally make a android user home.

I generally use stuff offered by Microsoft and apple so I tend to stay with them and their products.

Since the surface is not launched in India , there is no chance of getting a nice sleeve or a cover for the device .

Checked online and found everything not very interesting .

So went to the leather market in Mumbai and got one custom made genuine 100% leather cover for the surface 2 . Design wise I dint try anything adventurous kept it as much simple as I can .

Liked the fit and finish of the handmade leather sleeve , from inside they have given a nice suede lining . And since it is custom made it fits perfectly .
here are some pics .

Wow, nice! I'll see if I can replace my father's iPad 3 with this. But this RT is pulling me back. The pro version is too costly and doesn't even have a decent rear camera.

Congrats Raja, it is wonderful product and excellent review. It seems be like MacBook air with detachable key board.

It's very tempting, you are spoiling us (just kidding).

Well, BB Z10 and Surface 2 were two things that I didn't like AT ALL. Was never interested in these. But after reading Raja's review of both, changed my mind. The Z10 is indeed one of the most VFM product at 18K. Also, the Surface seems to be a cool gadget at 27.5K!
RT, hmm, the limitation of legacy apps. It is a must for a Windows 8 tablet IMO. It can basically replace a not-so-powerful PCs.

Why are legacy apps important on a windows rt media consumption device ?

Do you run legacy OSX apps which you run on a MacBook or iMac on iPad ?

Similarly RT is your alternative to a ios device , and anyway RT and windows phone will merge soon .

Regarding apps most of the apps one uses on regular basis on a iPad are already in the windows store . Speciality apps one needs to check . Plus you can remote access your main computer .
the biggest legacy app Microsoft office comes preinstalled in the surface 2 for free . Not a watered down version a full blown version .

And since you said legacy apps are must on a surface RT , the question arises do you use PhotoShop, light room , fcp , logic on iPad ?

I think it can easily replace the iPad(for father's use). Web browsing is a bit of pain in iPad.
But reading? Does it have nice reading application? I guess it has.
Hmm, what about games, lol.

Games for you or your father? Lol
Check the windows store you find which games are listed . Iam not very much in gaming .
Reading apps - kindle , nook , kobo , Microsoft reader , and many other reading apps are available check the pics posted on the first page .
Btw which laptop/ computer you use ? If it runs windows 8.1 you can for yourself check what games and apps it has in store .
