Hi Dr. and Friends, been traveling a lot for work [around 120 kms daily since Jan end ] and once or twice a week i take my car as an alternative for the regular ones coming from the assessee's vendor [Dzire or Indica]. The ride comfort is much better even compared to Dzire :) my observation regarding FE is like this from Mambalam to Tambaram [around 15km] it hangs around 10 kmpl and from Tambaram to Vallam [around 22+ kmpl for approximately for 60 km] ? [Tbm-Vandalur-Padappai-Oragadam-Panruti-orgadam-Vallam]. long term average might come to somewhere around 14-15 kmpl in my estimate. i am not an experienced driver but noticed that FE improves if we give a leg up in a safe/deserted four/six lane road and let the inertial thing take care for some distance. shifting to fifth after crossing 80 kmph also gets the 'econ' light up !. regarding the reception of china made antenna i was surprised to receive Radio City FM even all the way upto Tirumala, except at some parts of the ghat section !. i guess one can rely on the chinese to 'listen' our communications better than us ;). love to all.

@ gdave

I am afraid whether the central fan speed controller switch got loosen, could be due to your over pressure or while handling.

All the three knobs are in the same fibre mould.

If it gets inside and not firm enough to accept the new AC knob, better take the car to a good electrician who knows to remove the central console and refit it.

Be extra careful while choosing the car electrician as he should know the procedure and not to mishandle. In this thread , you can find the procedures.

Thank you Doc.

I was able to fix it by myself. I removed the bottom plastic portion just beneath the knobs. I was able to access the back of that knob. so with out opening the central console I managed to set it.

I started reading this thread few months back, and went through each and every page in this thread, including all sub threads which has been posted in this. I would like to bow in front of Dr Mudhan, who converted this thread into an encyclopedia. Being a frequent visitor to almost all auto forum in India, I will definitely say that this is the best and comprehensive Honda city review thread, and Honda car India can easily make this a reference thread for their users :)
And to conclude, let me say that I have cancelled my creta booking and booked ANHC VxO option. I will be taking the delivery this week. Thank you Dr, for your wonderful ownership thread which is making me a future Honda owner.

My HU doesn’t have such provision. Yes, I have seen in one of my friend’s car who fitted the 7 inch WorldTech LCD display and camera.

Plastic, Fibre and ABS materials are all not UV proof unless specially coated for all weather conditions. Our external dash board UV Protectant Spray/Polish to some extend may protect.

I totally agree with you, the four points you mentioned over 90/100 bulb setup.(Star14). Head Lights are just the eyes of a car. We should never make it dull over a period of time.

[QUOTE]Some had gone with high power bulbs with relay cut outs. This would not only void the electrical warranty but the heat of these bulbs will also burn / spoil the beautiful silvery inner reflectors. The car head light assembly is one which I feel as the icon of any car.
@ SUNREX

I also feel the Sharkfin antenna what we bought has a good reception than the one I bought before that, the smaller silver stock type one.

@ gdave

Great, you could do it. Hope, my uploaded pictures of internals could have been of some help.

@ Its_Me

I am honored by your heartfelt wish which betokens your broad, generous heart. Congrats and glad to note that you are going to be with our family.

Yes sir. Once or twice a month I apply dashboard Protectant (PROKLEAR TTD Tire Trim Dashboard Polish Protectant). It makes the dashboard look new, reduce dust attraction and also protect from UV. However, I did not applied the same to god idol stand.

Now my car dashboard has no god idol and its the time to find for alternatives which will not injure occupants incase of accidents.

Hello Mudhan ji...

I ordered same camera after reading your post. Hope to get it sooner from AE and Custom. Gone through the story of your purchase. About using it while normal drive I m gonna try too. Also if I am able to use camera in normal drive I might going to install second camera under left side mirror or something like that but not decided yet. I have Pioneer - AVH X5690BT which has AV mode.

Hello everyone, hope you guys are having a great time with your car :)

Just wanted to check if anyone has got Nexus 7 installed as a replacement for factory fitted audio player. I have been looking at the DIY videos on this and things are looking pretty exciting. Is this really a good idea?

My car interior(beige color) is getting darker and dull, what kind of product/spray would you recommend?
I am assuming that it is vinyl interiors (with leather it would be a little different).

If it is a DIY project,

Step 1: The first thing you need to do clean the surface thoroughly to remove embedded grime and grease. Steam cleaning with plain water (soft water) would be a good start (I use a Karcher steamer occasionally, something that is used for the house floors).

Step 2: Follow that up with a good mild detergent cleaner (like Amway).
Leather & Vinyl Cleaner (Pack Size- 500ml)

Step 3: Use a vinyl restorer/sealant, like 3M, Turtlewax or RENU-it, all with some level of UV protection (I have used RENU-it in the past). Caution here, most products that carry the name of "Leather & Vinyl Restorer", which actually does nothing to renew or restore the scratches on vinyl surfaces. Faded color of vinyl can only be partially restored, while on the other hand, leather interiors can be renewed to look new with the use of color pigmented cleaners and waxes.
Renu It - 1 Gallon

Warning: Also, DO NOT USE an exterior plastic/vinyl trim restorer/protector (like Armor-All) on the seats, they tend to make the seats very slippery to sit on - a potential hazard.

An alternate (if you're feeling lazy) would be take the car to the nearest 3M Car Care Center and get the interior job done thoroughly by the pros!

One question: With UV damage, vinyl always faded from dark to light, but you say it went from light to dark. Could it be just a matter of dirt collection over the years?
