Hi,

Already ordered the AC knob on last 24th for the same price.[clap]

Tried buying the Offer deal product "Steering wheel cover" which was priced at just $1.11, but I couldn't. It sold off within seconds [surprise]

I have a doubt.

No new tracking information after 11/4/2014. Is it normal? Does it take too much days to get further information after this position?

Most interesting!!!

@ CRACING

Good information and good choices.
The AC knobs are almost 50 % cheaper than what I bought last year from ebay.com.
Decorative Ignition Key Ring – I have been thinking … and now I too have ordered the red color one. What color you have ordered?
Car door lock cover – I think what you have ordered is expensive and it is per piece price. I have ordered from here 15 days before for $5.59 (4 pieces / lot)

Door lock buckle cover fit for Honda CRV CR V Accord Jade City Crosstour Cimi -in Nuts & Bolts from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group

@ ravib

Thanks for your pictures. How do feel after the windshield sun shade strip? Nice, you haven’t gone for a thick reflecting vinyl type with captions.
I am in dilemma, whether it will enhance the look? I don’t think so that it will help AC effect. In some countries, there is a legal size, it cannot exceed 6 inch width. Hope, your are enjoying!

Thats good. I ordered Blue colour.

Yes, the seller has made mistake by mentioning item price ($2.56 / piece). But its not per piece, $2.56 is for 4 pcs kit. Please check the title and also product description.

Are you sure about it? I had kept watch of it before and there was additional shipping cost. Cheapest I could find was ~10 USD.

Oh, thats sad but it shouldn't be, aliexpress has lot of stocks unlike flipkart.

I have a doubt.

Don't worry about tracking. Once it has dispatched from outward office, tracking will not be update-to-date. May be because parcel number changes when it enters into India. Wait for a week and you will get the item. [:)]

Definitely not $10, I paid Rs 452.89/- So it should be around $7-8.
Our links should be different. I brought for the car A-star.

Actually, the offer was only for the first 40 orders.

Ah, thats the reason. You bought for A-star and I have honda city. Price changes for different cars. [;)]

Don't worry. I usually get items from Aliexpress in range 15 - 20 days once shipped. None of the items took more then that range. so would also get within that period or max 30 days. otherwise you'll get refund if you don't receive in specified time. [:)]

Wow visiting this thread/site after long time.... good to see lots of new info, specially for battery and tyre upsizing.

Next week 19th Nov I would be travelling to Mumbai from Delhi(1400km) by my city. Although I have done it earlier... still if more safety/precaution info by fellow forumers/Dr.Mudhan would be really helpful for me. The tour will be covering around 3500km in total.

Thanks

@ Dr.Mudhan & @ Cracing. Yes, it appears to be a messy combination as pointed out by you friends. The Tablet idea is indeed inconvenient as it is not automatic, and we have to start the app everytime we try to take reverse, with the added uncertainty of the wifi working without fail, and the space constraints. as i had to change my mobile which is few years old now, the budget was earlier split between mobile and car accessories. now my loyalty has shifted to Samsung Galaxy S4 or Note 3 Neo [20K at dubai] + Pioneer AVH X8690 BT [30K including free installation in snapdeal. http://www.snapdeal.com/product/pioneer-avh-x8690-bt-7/754690136]. asked my brother in Dubai to get me the smartphone alone as the pioneer headset is FAR cheaper in India itself. hope my new mobile will address my navigation needs also and with mirror link and app radio, the HU display also can be used to view the navigation in the mobile. Thanks for your feedback.regards.

^^ u can use offline map like i m using it and have Pioneer - AVH X5690BT - LCD Touchscreen DVD Player installed. I shared my experience few pages earlier... about mirroring the cable would cost you around 3-4k for andriod. Instead of that buy offline maps from sygic/mapmyindia. They work without internet.

What does that mean? patching? [confused]
Already mentioned by Dr. Sahab.
Never let a single point of tire in contact with the ground for a long time.

I take out the car 2 - 3 times a week but will try to drive more often here-after.
This much is more than enough.

I don't have guarantee on my car tyres so I try to drive less. Plan to change tyres isn't early either. I will wait for 4 - 6 months.
No need to be scared.
Still, can you post a pic or two of your car tires or the pic of the worst looking tire?

Then how do you pay for fuel? Do you have fuel pump in your farm?
How I pay for fuel?[thinking] I guess dad pays!!
Despite being unemployed I am getting a Volvo XC 60 D5 within a fortnight as the dealership has confirmed that the car will be with them in 2-3 days. Well, it's their unique way of saying "We have the car and you be ready with the money"!

Good luck bro but I'm not in, this time.

I didn't even visited to Goa, you know? Its only about 150 Km away from me. Don't find a perfect time for it but I did went to lot of places in north border and south border when I was small.
Please spend your 270 rupees:
One Life To Ride: A Motorcycle Journey To The High Himalayas : A Motorcycle Journey To The High Himalayas (English) - Buy One Life To Ride: A Motorcycle Journey To The High Himalayas : A Motorcycle Journey To The High Himalayas (English) by Ajit Hari

Hmm, have to think about it.
I guess those will suit you better. For the cars which are lesser driven, it is always good to have a harder rubber compound tires.

Not in the country we live! Everything we get is outdated internationally.
Na na na, nothing like that. We have got the iphone 6 and see our cars also go through crash tests and return back with zero stars. That makes us modern, right?

.
I checked to find out from others whom have switched over to this tyre configuration 195/65/15/5.5j on their mileage figures. Overall all those persons are very much satisfied which I could find out from other auto forums of India and abroad as well. The one convincing with a good analysis is there!
I guess these observations are much identical to mine. In fact these are the observations of every City owner who has upgraded to 195 section rubber. But Yokohama A drives are not the tires to go for. Either Michelin Primacy 3ST or Bridgestone Turanza ER300, these are the best ones for he City.

BTW here I got an important question:
Is the story same with every married man? These "Mujhe badi gadi hi chahiye" type issues!! :stupid:
Gone through the entire buying experience and couldn't stop laughing.

@ TSIVipul

Yes, you are right. I take out the car only once or twice a week now a days. But every day morning I go to the shed where ALBUS is parked and I clean it, check for rat menace by opening the bonnet and cobwebs if any under the chassis. Start the car without accelerating and once engine cool light goes, move it on the gears front and back at least 15 to 20 meters to change the tyre contacts, stop and leave for my daily walk. Thanks once again for everything.

.
That's a definitely good practice. Rats are the most dangerous of all and this practice will keep them away at least.

The light diffusion high power LED products, high luminance characteristics.
Light color: White.
Power: 30 W
Voltage: DC 12V.
Flux : 1000LM
Color Temperature: 6500K
Dimension: 74mm ( diameter), 55mm ( Height )
Light up without delay, optical purity, color and penetration.
LED bulbs are not as bright as standard incandescent bulbs but they are longer lasting and have a more vivid color .Use on Reverse Light and Backup Lights, Stop Light, Parking Light ,Tail Light, etc.
____________________________________________________
Something is fishy about the above lamp.
Firstly, the casing/heatsink is abnormally small for 30W LED.
And it says only 1000LM for 30 watts? What? 33Lm/W?
Thats halogen class. not LED. 30W LED should be 3000~3600 Lumens!!!

P.S-
Comparative sizes and heatsinks of 20~24w LED-

SIMPLE TIPS FOR A BETTER ROAD TRIP

road trip tips.jpg

Sometimes, we decide to go for a long trip, want to enjoy every moment with our car, but should never miss to prepare for the same.

We always do a mistake, we give the car for service just before the day which I feel should have been done at least two weeks before to ensure that we are comfortable and to avoid getting into a new problem after a service, especially with older vehicles. Yes, sometimes it happens… loosening of hoses after a heavy pressure water stream wash!

Maintenance packages with an oil change, tire rotation and mechanical inspection should never be done in the last moment. This way, there will be ample time to fix everything and make the necessary adjustments.

Let us see some important points required while we get ready for the long drive trip. We may be able to verify some of them on our own, for the most part, we may have to rely on a competent mechanic. So better to keep the check list.

FOR THE CAR:

• Under the hood: - Engine oil / filter - Transmission fluid- Engine coolant
- Battery & terminals - Air filter – Fuel line
• Lights and Mirrors
• Windshield Wipers
• Tires
• Steering, Suspension and Drivetrain Belt components
• Air conditioning
• Spare tire (Check the spare tire pressure), wheel wrench and the jack, Tire sealer-inflator can, manual air pump.
• Basic emergency kit, include spare bulbs, fuses, electrical tape.
• Glass cleaners like Colin to ensure clear windshield.
• Consider a GPS Navigation System / Map & guidebook
• Have enough fuel from your regular petrol bunk. Get idea about good petrol bunks on the way if need to be top upped.
• Owner's manual / Authorised service station details.

You may also read more from this illustrated article - How to prepare for a Road trip @ https://snapguide.com/guides/prepare-for-a-roadtrip-ultimate-car-checklist/ (Don't miss to read the comments also)

FOR YOU:

1. Keep First Aid Medicines for fever, body pain, cold, diarrhea, nausea and allergy. The driver should avoid sleep inducing drugs. Always keep your regular medicines , the best antiseptic ointment Betadine and some anti-inflammatory ointment like Volini.
2. Avoid tight dress especially tight under garments / Avoid over loading & crowding of persons.
3. Keep some good cups and tumblers which you can use to get coffee / tea to avoid unhygienic cups and health hazardous disposable plastic cups from tea shops.
4. Always keep a good fully charged torch light.
5. Enough tissues / Pillows
6. Mobile phone /charger
7. Music, games (not for drivers!) & energy bars & snacks
8. Secure the seat belt / child's seat properly / Pet Care if needed.
9. A refreshing car perfume
10. Stop the car intermittently at unpolluted environment under a shade, breath fresh air and do some quick 5 minutes exercises like safe twisting & stretching.

REMEMBER, Three important things that make for a successful road trip are Comfort, Safety and Fuel economy & the CAR should be overall an agreeable traveling partner.

Road trips are Fun & Adventurous , Enjoy the journey ! [:D]

Hi Dr.Mudhan. few installations done this weekend. Chrome base/Handles affixed [from your link], Chrome Exhaust Tip -Rs.375/-, faux-leather steering wheel cover-Rs.450/- airtel music backup siren-Rs.140/-, Ipop door gaurd - Rs.275/-. next week planned to do 3M sunfilm [70% visibility], and if budget permits AVH-X8690BT [Rs.28k/-]. my Samsung Galaxy S4 is on the way to complement it.[:D] btw, the vendor says pioneer sets are the cheapest in Chennai when compared to anywhere in the world. when checked in usa and uae, same model costlier in $ and Dirhams.[confused]. btw, my friend suggests waterproofing of car floor [a sheet of special water proof material between the floor carpet and the after market car mats]. your suggestion on this is requested.my snaps are not getting attached as they are bigger than one mb possible.will try some alternative later. Thanks.

Vendor says pioneer sets are the cheapest in Chennai:

True. I felt the same when I compared the price at Dubai.

My friend suggests waterproofing of car floor:

Somehow I am not for it. [evil]
1. The quality of the workmanship and the seamless coverage over the contours of vehicle floor (wrinkles) are not as expected. May give a cheap look as taxi.
2. Moisture condensation or water seepage through the bottom of the chassis via damaged floor grommets / rubber seals may result in some sort of mold & bacterial growth and catalyze corrosion.
3. A definite NO if you are a smoker as the PVC / vinyl might catch a fire sooner compared to the woolen floorings.
4. Though it looks neat and easy to clean, most of the foot mats over this sheet will not stay fit as this surface is smooth, the mats keeps moving.
5. Cheap quality sheets may give plastic vapors / odor in a car parked under the sun.
6. There will be more inconvenience than convenience.

Putting aside everything, it makes your car feel half the price.
It adds cheapness even to your premium car and why do it? I am yet to see a monocoque car getting its floor fallen off because of rusting.

Thanks Dr.Mudhan and Shri.TSIVipul ji for your feedback. i will avoid it and just get the floor carpet cleaned and dry as it got wet in recent rains. despite our[me and sons] best efforts there is still wetness in the floor carpet. so i sought for a professional cleanup and drying by removing the seats. btw, am attaching the snaps, as mentioned in my earlier post. will post further after fixing sun films and ICE. Thanks and regards.
