It has been done very nicely. The outcome looks like a brand new Omni. Now a days very few people have patience to restore a vehicle to this extent.

Hello all,

I feel happy to share the latest pics of our car, finally delivered. Certain minor things still pending like graphics and wheel cap which should be up in a week or so.

Nice pics and a great restoration job Jetu, the color is awesome in that sunlight.
Please wax your car at-least once in a month to retain the color.

Have you checked for any unconventional gaps?

The MGP wheel caps will finish the looks of the car IMO.

Any extra work done on interiors?

Hi all,

It's been a while since I logged in to TAI as I am posted to Bangalore on official work, I am missing my first love "Omni" very much, it is in Mysore.

Vishwas: Nice pics and a great restoration job Jetu, the color is awesome in that sunlight. Please wax your car at-least once in a month to retain the color.
Hi Vishwas, Thank you first of all for appreciating the work. I have not done any extra work for interiors, just got new seat covers for all seats and type 3 door pads, but the wheel caps and graphics are still pending as I had to take up touring.

And yes, I will make sure to wax my car once a month, BTW which is the best waxpol? I had tried the Scooter Wax polish hydrogenated wax which was fine, much unlike the liquid wax which kind of rubs a layer of the paint.

anshuman8: It has been done very nicely. The outcome looks like a brand new Omni. Now a days very few people have patience to restore a vehicle to this extent.
Thank you Anshuman, I am greatly inspired by all the TAI members to do this. I will soon take up the restoration of Maruti 800. Keep watching and sharing your valuable inputs.

jayesh: jetumalnad9 Congrats ,
on completing the restoration your car looks fabulous, the color looks very nice.
Wish you many trouble free, happy Kilometers with it
Those fog lamps look very good.
Are they mounted on bull bar?
which brand are they?
Hi Jayesh, Thank you for the appreciating and encouragement. Sorry for delayed response. Do you really think those fog lamps look good? Because I am planning to get them removed, They are mounted on the metallic crash guard.

patkar_a: Congratulations buddy, finally you have achieved the goal you wanted..Happiness after such effort is priceless.Enjoy munching miles and miles to together.
Hey Patkar, Thanks a ton, you have supported a lot all through the restoration process. Yes now I would love to drive it more but am in Bangalore on work but the Omni is in Mysore, so, waiting to get back.

Varun560061: Wow !! Your car looks cool and brand new ! Nice seat covers too.BTW, I could see that the seats are wider than the new Omni's is it OEM ?
Thank you Varun for your word of appreciation. Yes the seats are OEM, in the new ones, it looks narrow. I guess the original ones are just fine. So, retained them. Regarding disc braks and wheel covers, they are not installed yet because our mechanic suggested not to install, so, thought of getting them installed a few days later at a different place.

swiftshashi: Thanks a lot Shashi that you too liked it. Yes, I am planning to go in for MGP wheel covers shortly. Will consider painting the rims in black but for now I have retained the original rims for want of money. But thanks a lot again for those nice words.
Octy_Vin: Hi jetumalnad9, Very nice work done. Your omni looks cool. Just add alloys if possible.

Hi Vinodh, Thank you for those words of positivity. Would love to get the alloys but it will take time because of time and financial constraint as of now. But thanks for the suggestion.

Hey TAI mates, I will soon get the wheel caps and graphics for the Omni and post the pics soon.

The whole restoration was done at a place called "Maruti Service Point" a workshop managed and run by Shankar Shetty in Mysore. If you guys want to suggest/need any tinkering or painting work on your 4 wheeler, you can please post here, I will also post his number soon.

Try getting formula 1 wax polish, the effect is good. Motomax is the worst.
Anyway as your car is painted recently, seek suggestions from your painter if it's okay to apply wax polish (just my suggestion).

Keep updating this thread with lots of pictures [:)]

Hi Jetu
I have a 2013 Omni, love those old type round Head lights.
Is there a way I could change the latest one to old type headlights without major modifications ??

Ananth.. Mysore.

I Don't think it's quite possible with swapping the new ones with the old headlights, because the body structure (front portion) differs between the old and new models, please refer to the old pages as the thread owner has posted the extra work done.

Yes you surely can if you're willing to do so. You will have to hunt for a old Van front panel, mostly from scrapped Van & find a good tinker for the swap.
Unfortunately this requires major modifications as the whole factory fitted front end will have to be removed & necessary adjustments will have to be made to fit the "round light" panel.

Hi Ananth,

Sorry for the delayed response.

I saw your Omni, you can modify it to look like the old one by getting the old front welded but you need a good tinker, I can suggest you to contact my tinker however I would like to understand the purpose behind doing this.

1) Since it's the new model with the demister fitted and the new dash, it requires more space as the old one had a little less space although the difference is not much.

2) Since it's new, it still has good resale value as compared to the older version. So, consider these things before you decide on remodeling it.
