The Omni uses a sidedraft carb which is different from the 800's carb.Make sure all the venturis are not sticking. You can use a carb cleaner spray to clean it.Also use a fuel system cleaner for extended cleaning.

If you consider a rebuild get it done at someone who is well versed with carbs. There are many small screws and settings.

Car still not ready..now the mechanic says the headlamp doom is a little shaky, need to get it exchanged. after all the painting now it's made dull again for reasons best known to him, waiting eagerly, he says after everything is fixed, he will apply polish.

Jetu....Eager to see your fully restores Omni. It reminds me of our Blue Omni purchased in 1995 and sold in 2008. It is a wonderful car. It was very tough for us to get her off after running 1.2 Lac Kms for us. I still remember even in our last trip to Pune she gave an effective 16 Kms/Ltr average.

Cheers for your Omni

The carburetor is not the original one which comes with the vehicle, as I said, recently about 2 years back we changed it to a new one, but I don't remember the exact name.

Hi Nadkarni, Thank you for that positive message. Even ours was a neptune blue Omni which is now changed to Blue blaze metallic, the new color in latest Omni. It indeed was tough for us also to part with as it has served us as a family car for years together. So, thought of restoring it with the latest looks. Will post the final pics soon.

Hello all, some updates here, all accessories getting fixed, still need to buy the new wind screen, false grill needs to be fixed and graphics needs to be done, Please have a look and share what you feel. The back door still needs to be polished. so it looks a little dull here but once polished, it looks same as the side and front.

Wow !! Your car looks cool and brand new ! Nice seat covers too.
What about the disk brakes and booster as suggested before ?

As suggested above change the rims or get a set of full wheel covers.

Get MGP wheel covers meant for 800 / omni that looks decent.
I feel with out the graphics your car looks neat.

BTW, I could see that the seats are wider than the new Omni's is it OEM ?

jetumalnad9 Sir,
The finish is awesome.
I would like to suggest a few things from my side.
1.Please get the new Omni's brake Boosters installed.
2.Please get the New model's rims if you aren't planning for a wheelcover
3.If OEM wheelcover is in the pipeline,do paint your rims to glossy black before installing the wheelcovers,It will complete the look
4.I see that you have retained original speedometer...WIll that be also changed??
This is the Wheel cover that I was talking about-

Change in speedometer will led to changes in wiring, since the Connectors used by Carburetor and MPFI wiring is different.Carburetor has type 1 and type 2 wiring And in mpfi wiring has 2 different type connectors type 2,and type 3.

So he can fix radium colored speed meter like type 2 by changing dials with type 2 mpfi which will require expert technician (meterwala),type 3 is not possible at all.I have done it.

Then I guess it'll be better if he leaves it that way.
I prefer DIYs,but not those which tend to affect the Long Term Reliability of the vehicle.
