re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Here are the components of the A\C compressor..
Need to clean them and also need to be sanded to make it smooth.
Can I use synthetic oil for lubrication of the pistons ?

re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Hi Guys,

I have recently fixed these fog lamps in my maruti 800. The shop keeper said this is the max. size which an 800 can support. But u guys seems to have a bigger size in ur car. Is it possible to fit any size or is there any extra components needs to be fixed before installation?? Pls clarify guys bcos i'm not satisfied with the power of the fog lamps and i finally ended up in fixing up the head lamps with 100/90 bulb with some relay for extracting more power.[confused]

re: My Modified Maruti 800.

You can fix bigger fog lamps with 55watts bulbs, this can be supported by our car's alternator..
Beyond 55watts with 100/90 headlamps your car battery wont be charged..
Is yours a std/ac version ?

Today's update..

Removed the oem bulbs from instrument cluster/speedo meter and fixed leds (SMD's).
I had already removed the plain blues which use to illuminate green.
I was using side indicators bulbs, orange. Now its changed into led's..[;)]
Please tell me how it looks...

Good one Varun, I tried removing the console, but I dont have the spanner (T-spanner 12size) so will do that soon. Bought new bulbs (plane ones - 5W - 3Nos). The shop keeper near my home has no stock of SMD.

The new bulbs

I managed to remove only the position/direction thing (roller switch) the top one that chooses the hot/ cold thing almost broke & is stuck at half. May be I have to try once again (after removing the two bolts)

This is the bolt I need remove. Planning to buy a set of T-spanners The Xshaped ones are less useful

Yes, the bolt which you have mentioned is correct, remove both bolts your steering coloum will come down you can easily remove the panel..

T spanner is very much necessary..

I guess those roller switches in your car to be removed from inside..
I shall update you regarding this.. [;)]

Shankar, fog lamps have to be of good quality. Cheap ones simply waste a lot of power and do not give the required brightness. You can get Hella, Lightforce, Neolite etc. You can fix any light on your car, provided you run the car for a fair enough duration during daytime/without turning on the fogs - so the battery gets replenished. The higher the wattage, the battery will get drained faster. Good fogs come with a wiring kit as well, that includes wires of the required thickness a relay and probably a switch.

A lot depends on how you align the fogs as well. Make sure the mounting brackets of your fogs are not loose. Hella provides mounting brackets with most of their lamps. Use them to mount the lights properly. I can comfortably drive around with just the Hella MicroDE aux lamps - they're just 35W. When cruising I use the low beams and use High beams only to flash and hit back at high-beam morons.

If you are ready to spend close to 12k, you can go HID. For that, buy an Amritas P8 HID kit (available in Bangalore), which is a direct replacement for the bulbs in your fogs. Be warned that the reflector of your fogs might not be designed for taking in HIDs and hence they MIGHT cause a lot of unwanted glare. But they are extremely bright. You should focus them properly.

re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Hi Varun,

Your M-800 has truly be an inspiration for me. I recently was handed down my sister's M-800. 2002 A/C mpi model. My sister was no petrol head and well the car was never in great nick.

Now the car is nearly ten years (It will be in a few months) old but something in me wants to bring back the beauty in her. I know a lot of people will say sell the car get a new one. However, sometimes heart works more than the mind.

So slowly but surely i shall be investing time and money into bringing her back into form. Its good to also know that you are from Bangalore so you could always give me pointers. I am sorry I am asking you questions in your thread but I thought a new thread was not necessary.

To start of with I wanted to ask you if there was any chance that I could change the glass/transparent plastic of the instrument cluster. Mine has cracked and it greatly irritates me! There is a crack right through the middle, so I cant even see the speed readings properly.

re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Oh great! When i asked a mechanic near my house he said the whole cluster has to changed. I guess he was trying to make an extra buck.

This is a big relief. I shall go to Essar soon. Is it a diy job? I was trying to remove the instrument cluster today. But got stuck :(. What do I have to remove close to the A/C side to free the cluster? Sorry for the noob questions.
