Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Hi, This is my first post on Automotive India. I have been following this thread for a long time and it's turning out to be more and more interesting. Hats off to Varun.
Has anybody tried upgrading the brakes of Maruti 800? I mean bigger discs and calipers?

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

For the kind of power it makes at the wheels the stock brakes with a booster are quite adequate.

Adding bigger disc's would mean bigger wheels to get the clearance. This creates additional problems as the bigger wheels will scrape the wheel wells when the car is loaded.

Mine has a few mods :) not turbocharged though. Is it possible to fix Esteem brake discs and calipers ?

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

Check the sizes, if the diameter, the thickness and the mounting holes are the same you wont have any difficulties. If it is thicker check if it fouls with the current wheels you are using, if it does then you may have to go for bigger wheels to get the desired clearance.

What mods have you done to your car?

Re: My Modified Maruti 800.

All those mods will not have increased your HP at wheels by more than 1-2 bhp.

If you think its more I'd suggest you to dyno your car if its equal or more than 45bhp you need to upgrade your brakes to bigger dics and calipers.

If not just add a brake booster to your car and it will be sufficient, atleast until something new and compatible is discovered [cheers]

Take my word for it, the mods highlighted in bold won't help you much with performance. Maybe a placebo effect, that's all.

You won't have to worry about the stopping power with the mods that you've described above. Add a booster, which, IMO, is a necessity.

Varun, I saw the outcome. I think we can make one custom made dial for her. Let see how we can do that. You please scan and send me the dial panel. I do the rest. I'm also planning to make a different dial panel for my 'LOVE' [;)]
Cheers!!
