Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

got the armrest and mudflaps fitted from a dealer in karol bagh, paid 1050 in total. Love the armrest since we can adjust the height of the armrest depending on your mood

will post pics later.
I am buying a Brio EX-MT and liked your arm rest. Let me know which dealer you got that from (send me a PM or you can share the details here).

I do not actually remember his name but if you are coming from hotel siddharta, on pusa road take a left after crossing KB metro station, you will reach a roundabout. you need to take the 2nd exit (1st exit is the service lane parallel to pusa road and ends just behind the metro station).

there are many shops there and you can bargain hard.

basically the 2nd road leads to ajmal khan market.

Hi Nitin_k, your thread on Brio has got to be long and popular and I'm still in the process of taking my lessons from it. Would appreciate your quick inputs on:

1. whether you've found its airconditioning adequate after Palio?
Some owners elsewhere have complained about the airconditioning being just satisfactory but not chilling. We being in NCR that sees 45+ degs for many weeks, I'm keen to know about your experience with its cooling in months of May-June.

2. What mileage do you get for city driving after a year of driving it?

3. Has the teflon coating appeared to have helped after a season of scorching summer in Delhi?

I'm considering a White or Red VX mt and have to decide quickly so would appreciate any thoughts you can pass along.

hey Jyotib

welcome to TAI :)

wrt your queries
1. AC in extreme heat ( say summers noon onwards ) still requires a lot to be desired. takes time to cool up. Predominantly being an all glass hatch, it does'nt help much either. But yes in evenings the ac becomes much more effective and at times you need to reduce the thermostat. Mine are always set at maximum. The positive side of being all glass is that the visibility is great and you get a specious feeling (not that the car is small in any way). from outside you may get the feeling but from inside its a different ball game together.

there is an option to install reflective / anti glare transparent films if you have to travel more frequently in afternoons. i read about a particular grade somewhere but they do not come cheap. will post about it later.

2. in bumper to bumper i get around 10 to 13 and on highways around 14 to 18 and even 20. it depends more on your driving style. I cant get myself to stick to that eco light at least in delhi roads.

3. teflon coating is a waste, if you are in a habit of washing the car daily etc, it will be washed away in one cleaning. these H! guys use a normal wax which is given a fancy name like teflon.

i own a red and lets be honest , any car will get scratched knowing how delhi traffic is. the red not being a metallic color helps since u can get touch ups easily. also scratches show up as black and if they are deep as silver. generally with scratches, its the other cars paint which sticks to your car depending on whose mistake it is.

rubbing compound helps and if you are buying a white car, scratches will be highlighted more. cars do get dirty and dirt will show more on white than any other color.

if you do not like red, go for the urban titanium. i would not suggest anyone to buy white.

Oops, oops, oops! I've booked a white Vx mt now and expect delivery by Tue. I did sense that white will attract dirt, may catch strong Holi colours and traffic cops may also notice it more ;) But I was stuck between Red and White, and chose latter as I've driven 2 red hatchbacks consecutively in the last 15 years. UT and EB just didn't feel like my colours. I find the black rear glass contrasting the best with Red, white and EB, but I guess, I'll learn from this ownership experience.

Your take on the AC is most worrying :( Will just have to see how it pans out.

Most appreciate your early response. Will report more as I attain some Brio experience.

White is good, as long as u dont get any scrapes or paint peeled off by traffic. I drive 63kms a day and work with demanding schedules, so have no time for white/alabaster sliver etc.

Use sun shades on all 4 windows, if ur gonna park ur car in extreme heat. they are avail for less than 200 bucks.
1 more tip if ur car is parked in sun 4 long, roll down the windows slightly and just use blower to get contaminated hot air. Ur free to roll up the windows and use AC after about a 1km or so. ramu

white is also ok, and colors are more of a personal preference.

ac is not that big an issue. My point being - in extreme summers the car takes time to cool down since being a predominant glass hatch. But once it cools down , you wont face any issues and may have to increase the thermostat level at times if it becomes cloudy or in evenings.

Thanks to you both for your votes of confidence on white :)

Other than Brio, I did TDs of Liva, Figo, Swift and Micra, and found Brio's size and maneuvering working well for me. After a 2nd TD of Brio that covered about 20 km, however, it was clear that the AC of the other tested hatchbacks was more effective but also that it was only Brio that felt like an individual's car. And the husband agreed with that view :) More on this decision in an ownership review though.

you'll love the car as its maneuverability in ncr traffic is something you will cherish.
and the H! badge assures you that you are getting the best. They may have done some cost cuttings wrt leaving the door panels naked where you can see the paint and the fm antenna reminding you of the maruti 800 but other than that its a well thought out car and the engine is premium.

u cant get wrong with a H!.

Agree with Nitin. Honda assure really assures you, God forbid, in case u need it.

Further, the quote did not say anything on the NCB? any idea
