Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

Hi ANil
As far as I remember, I was not asked for PAN or address proof of the company. The hypothetication deed suffices for it I think. Even then, if they are asking for those things, give them the details on a letter head, you may have to make a few rounds in your HR department though.

Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

Hi Nitin,

I have taken the car on my company name, and when i have called the agent yesterday for the permenant registartion, he is asking me for the Company PAN and address proof. Though the car is on company name, i will be the person representing it. Just wondering on the documents he is asking for. Any idea on this would be help, and i am nearing the expiry date for TR. Thanks.
since the car is in companies name, its obvious you will have to give companies PAN number/address proof.

Or you shd get it registered like this
Mr. X The Director,
c/o. ABC Co.

This will ensure your documents are required and also your company can claim depreciation.

i suggest you speak to an RTO agent to get more clarity.

They have become very strict with KYC norms and they have full right to ask for the companies PAN number and address proof on whose name the car is being registered.

Yeah. I don't think there is any harm in providing PAN or any kind of details of the company. Just that it invites some more trouble of visiting the HR section, which no one likes, at least I don't (I hope you do not belong to HR vertical, otherwise you will [gun])

Hi nitin,

Hope you remembered me.we chated a lot before in your thread and in other threads also.

Most probably iam going to book s(o)mt on coming monday.
Any advise you would like to give me at the time of booking.

Any problems/issues you are facing in brio or in its maintenance side?

Which other car you would like to compare with brio s(o)mt?

Hope you satisfied now with the decision you made before.

4 things you will have to live without if u had them in your previous car
  • rear washer
  • defogger
  • miniscule boot
  • lack of low end torque

but if these 4 things are no deal breakers for you, brio is the car for you.
apart from one bad journey when it rained cats and dogs while on NH1 and the rear glass become dirty coz of of mud on the roads ( courtesy semi built flyovers) and back visibility became 0 , saving grace were the huge OVRM's.

low end torque will take time for you to get used to ( i am comparing it with my 1600cc S10) but as i have read and seen, its present in all Honda cars.

90% of cars u see on roads do not have rear washers hence u can also live with it.

if you are planning a vacation, you would be better off to first take your empty strolly bags to you car and try placing them since you do not want to change your luggage just minutes before u embark on a long journey.

Delhi winters are known to be tough when fog sets in. I paid 10k plus and got original fog lights installed. The wait would not be longer before they are put to test with winters creeping in. In normal usage at night, they have increased the flow of light which i think for me is handy.I do not think S(O) have them as stock.

horn is one thing which may bug you. I got mine changed. If you think of doing the same, do get the fuse changed to 20 amp.

If you plan to get after market arm rest installed, you will end up losing the space to keep 2 water bottles just behind the hand break. The car is wide enough so losing this space is not felt. But yes, try and get them fitted as back as possible so that you get ample space to change the gears. My friend after seeing mine, got arm rest installed and the mechanic left some space from the back, As a result he faced issues while changing the gear. He had to get them re installed.

Thanks for reply.
Back wiper, defroger are not important for me as im quite used to drive without them since last decade.

Re.low end torque - i have test drives twice till now and dont know how i have not faced this issue, even while test driving i picked up the car like zooom and it doesnt disappoint me at that time.may be test drive vehicles are setted to give good low end torque or something. Also i have driven maruti 800 & i10 1.2 kappa 2. & i feel apart from vague steering of i10 its engine does their job pretty well.if you have experience of driving kappa2 also then pls differentiate brio engine with it and share the same.
Iam used to drive 800cc,998cc & 1200 cc cars only till now.do i also may feel the low end torque issue?

Re.bags:you made a very good point even iam also thinking to go for a bag shopping after buying brio.brio can accomodate 3 bags vertically as i think.(may be of different sizes)

Fog lamps also i can skip at this moment as here in mumbai we dont find fog at all unless we go to nasik or mahabaleshwar or something.even on mahabaleshwar roads under fogging climate i drive maruti 800 with stock lamps without having any issue

Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

low end torque is felt more in bumper to bumper traffic or at intersections when u slow down to see if the road is clear. You may have to down your gears to get the power back.

this issue is more prominent if you have driven a more powerful vehicle for a while. If you are upgrading like u said from 800/1000 to 1200 etc u will love the engine and the peppiness. the low end torque is more prominent in all small cars. So should not be taken as a deal breaker. Further, the car being new, you tend to be extra careful and light on the speed clutch. That is where the adjustment lies.

Also since our cars are new, it takes time for the engine to get going and true worth will be know at about 5k kms. Steering is super light and i fell in love with it as soon i drove it for the 1st time. I do not think you will go wrong by owning the H!

book it with peace of mind and she will love you back :)

I also loved this car specially for god given light steering.
At the time of your delivery of your brand new car. is it feels light on steering and gears from the day 1 or it takes time to get lightness.

gears are hard initially, especially 2 to 1 or 3 to 2 but after 1st service they settle down. The more you drive the more smoother they become.

By the way what does "5days epic saga"means?
read the 1st post

the crux of all -
selling my old car
getting the deal
booking new one
finalizing the accesories
getting loan
taking delivery

all happened in 5 days - from thursday evening and taking delivery on monday evening, that explains the thread title.

Re: 5 Days Epic Saga - My Honda Brio SMT Rallye Red

Congrats with the BRIO! I just love the design & planning to get 1 thiss month. However, mine being a small city we got only 1 Honda dealer n this dude is hardly offering any discounts on SMT. They are just offering free ins + 5K i guess and quote came to 5.05L. Do you guys thinks its coo? and if I had to bargain how far should I be pusshing on and on what things (without sounding cheap). Also please suggest on the seat covers? I am not looking for top class/high end covers but will appreciate VFM. Shall I go for the ones offered by Honda and also please let me know the price.

Too many questions. Yes. I am a first time buyer!

Hi!!
Have you discussed about the deal with the Platinum Honda Guys.
I too plan to buy Brio Smt in these Navratras.
Honda SA offered ins+10K on SMT and ins+20K on S(O)MT alongwith body cover and mattings. What they offered you?
