Hi Sudarmani,
Glad to see a lot of zest owners from Chennai.Even I got the pass from dealer, but gave it to my friends as I have already seen the movie. Did you get any gifts or complements from the dealer at the delivery time and how much fuel voucher did he give you ?. I am about to take delivery from concorde ambattur. Also, it would be helpful if you could list down the documents received from dealer during delivery. Thanks bro.
Congrats on your decision to buy Zest. It is indeed a nice decision. The only complementary thing I got was a box of chocolate and diesel coupan of 5 litters.
Among docs, I got car manual, ICE manual, delivery check list, delivery acknowledgement, invoice copy, debit note, complete payment receipt, insurance original doc and contact numbers of all important individuals from sales to service. Also acknowledgment stating extended warranty and gold AMC.

Hi Guys,

Couple of questions. I have taken delivery of my RED RT XT and have not driven at all after taking delivery on 25th Dec. I have observed few things as i start the engine everyday and keep it on for 10 mins.

1. The engine rpm raises to 1200 and then settles down to 650- 750.
2. There is slight jerk/jump/movement which can be felt in car and in steering also while the car is idiling.

other than the above i could not find any issue as of now. Could you please let me know if these are normal with Revotron or do i need to visit the service center and get it clarified. Thanks in advance.

As said by Harish, This is normal. One thing to point out is, when you crank your engine, make sure you switch off the ac. Ac should be switched on only after i say 30 sec of idle time since the compressor would require more input to switch on.

Hello everyone
Wish you all happy new year and hope it all started well
Few update on my car
1. Photos of my seat cover. Though got it a month back but did not get time to update this forum. Purchased 'artskin' from jeewajee, chamiers road, chennai. Very good guy, very professional and cost as per market. This costed me 10500.

Then purchase following items for my car care from eBay. It was little cheap online
1. 3M car shampoo
2. 3M dashboard cleaner - quite good. Use out for seat cover also
3. Micro fiber cloth each for shampoo wash, water wash, glass, under body and interior (did some analysis online)
4. Separate sponge for tire.

Things to buy
1. Tire and rim cleaner

Purchased following items from aliexpress and awaiting delivery. Will give my review once I start using them

Hello Everyone,
It`s been 6 months owning Zest. I am having wonderful time with my car. Till now i have not faced any issue and things have been smooth.
1. Have completed my first free service and am very happy with the service provided by TATA serivce at ECR. All the minor issue I raised were taken care
2. Recently came back from Dharmapuri (it is around 380 km from Chennai) and the ride was superb. Initially I felt the car cabin noise on bad roads were loud but when i increased the PSI to 36, it is perfect. I even got the confirmation from my friend who works in TATA that Zest has officially increased its PSI to 36, initlally it was 32.
3. Music System is superb. Till now i have not faced any issue.
4. Though have not checked the mileage, but in city with 100% ac gives me 17.2kmpl.
finally, this car still attracts on goers, as if it is newly launched vehicle [clap]

a quick update
Last week a two wheeler came and hit from back, because of which the back bumber was pushed inside. I decided to ignore this and rectity it in the 1 year service but found the left back mud flap was rubbing against the tyre (esp when car is loaded with people), to avoid further damage to tyre, I immediately gave the car for service.
It got the receitifed by ASS @ ECR and the car got delivered today on time with service cost of Rs. 2800. This cost was to take out the dent, repaint and remove other scratches.

Its very tough to see damage to our car especially for some one else's mistake. I have considered tata zest xms diesel for a buy. My concerns are

1) Mud in bay engine issue - is it still there for the 2015 models

2) ASS of tata

3) build quality and occasional niggles usually associated with tata vehicles ( did you find the higher weight of the car to be of any advantage ?)

4) is there any turbo lag ? how's city driving ?

P.S. I am from hyderabad

Isn't it covered in AMC? Then for what we have to pay 16.5k?

I doubt if these are covered in AMC. I might be wrong, but i believed AMC Gold would free regular service + any adhoc service we bring in but it will not cover any damages.

1. MIB issue frankly is not an issue unless it rains and i have been driving during rain and have not faced any issue except the engines are dirtier. They have solution for MIB and i believe if you follow it up, it will be taken care
2. ASS of TATA has always been an issue but frankly I have not faced any. From the delivery to the first service, everything has been good. So, i cant say ASS is bad for TATA [;)]
3. Build quality is good and in par with other cars and occassional niggles is there but I believe it will be there in all cars caz so many car parts are involved. It is agaiin, the way I look at it.
4. I sometime feel the turbo lag in 4 gear esp but never effected my driving or speed of the vehicle. Hence, i am not worried about it. In H/W, i never bothered caz of the speed. One thing to say, i love the city drive, it takes the bumper smooth and i can really remove the cluth from 3rd gear, hence i never used 1st gear except in the morning when i start [clap]

From above, you would have understood i am happy with my car, small niggles are excepted in my life [roll]

I agree with Sundarmani. I own a buzz blue XMS diesel since Spt 2014 and have driven it 8,500 km so far. My impression - safety has been given a lot of importance in this car - ESC, ABS, Air bags, handling, body construction is really good, much better than dezire and amaze. Interiors - well, they are a huge jump up above the two - no comparisons. Sure it's a new car and there might be a hidden gotcha, but engine is a proven one, interiors and safety features are excellent, and last generation tata cars - manza, aria already overcame suspension and electrical issues, so I doubt Zest and Bolt will age fast.

the doubts are about how the car ages, and inconsistent ASS quality. My Zest does not have any squeaks or rattles, ASS has been a bit laid back but it has been attentive and with the cost of service and parts being so low, I think it is well worth buying this car. You'll be safer, more comfortable, and the only risk you run is having to change ASS's if they arent delivering, but being a in a metro, I doubt you will have any problems. Totally recommended for safe, sensible drivers, but those who love vrooming and braking all over may not find the drive involving enough.

Thanks guys, your experiences with zest surely is confidence inspiring. I was stuck between etios and zest diesel, but being a family car, zest makes more sense. Call me paranoid, but for me sheet metal strength and kerb weight are paramount important when buying. My first priority is safety.

Even I thought the capacitive touch screen won't be good but believe me, it is good. You can't expect it to be like our mobile phone but it's smooth and good. It will sure last long.
About the engine, it's s proven engine and TATA been running this engine for a while now. Though you will hear some noise inside the cabin, but its what you get when you but a diesel car. Car is powerful and the pick up is good.
If you are looking some specific answer let me know, I will be more brief
Yes, it is an awesome Car!!

I am also enjoying the zest.....

Congrats on your buy. How about a Zest owner's club?

1. Tyre pressure is on the sticker in the driver side doorwell - 32 psi. I prefer to fill it to 33 though, and check it every 15 days. If you go on long trips. try r
2. Have you tried the coverwell or automax custom sized cover? It's sold through ebay, and they have a large range - all custom done, with ORVM pockets and antenna grommet. Do call and confirm before you order. I too had bought one from the dealer, but dont use it as the material leaves marks on the waxed surface quite easily. I found the body covers were over-priced on FK, despite a 40% off on the day
Hope this helps.
