I agree with you,100kmph is quite fast and at times even dangerous on our roads. I was interested in knowing its capabilities at such speeds mainly for those "emergency" overtaking maneuvers where a powerful engine will help. Anyway, a remap should take care of it :) Also, can you post your impression on the in-gear acceleration timings ? ACI says the Duster 85 is much faster in the 20-80 and 40-100 mark
I have taken testdrive of Duster too, I agree that Duster 85ps is much faster in 20-60 range and not in 20 - 80 range.

40-100 range I guess there shouldn't be much difference.

Also one need to keep the Ecosport in Turbo range to get maximum acceleration, if
you upshift the gears at low speeds too quickly then you will feel that the car is less powerful.

Keep the car in turbo range, and then upshift the gears at appropriate speeds to get good acceleration.

Overtaking is not at all problem, until unless you are trying to overtake a similar powered or high powered car.

Till this time I didn't need to go over 2000 RPM, except for steep inclines. I felt that the turbo kicks in from 1200 RPM.

Aah, that pretty much sums it up. No wonder you felt it was a little slow. If you look at the torque curve, it starts at 2000rpm and goes up to 2750 rpm. So if you shift around the 2500rpm mark that should be the sweet spot to get maximum performance.

Ford manual says that during break in period don't go above 2000rpm. And once in a week we need to start the car and in stand still and revv the car to 3500rpm.

Oh I didn't know that, how many kms is the running-in period ? I took a TD today and found that the engine feels a lot better after 2k rpms, shifting at 3k rpms gives you a pushed-into-seats feeling. Once my car comes, will get done with the run-in period in a jiffy [:)]

I think the diesel engine breakin is 1500 km. Will confirm the same as I am bit confused on this.

Are you going to run-in the car for 5000kms? I don't think it is required. Modern engines are far more capable and 5000 seems like a lot.

5000 kms is insane [shock]

Does Ford expect us to drive at less than 2k rpm for 5000 kms ? Ideally it should be till the first service or 1500 kms like MSN1 posted. 5k is too much

It is funny but in the entire manual, there are three break-in periods mentioned at different places. 1500km, 1600km and 5000km. They have used the term break-in for the first two, while 5000km one is refered to as "run-in".

refer the section titles and we should more adhere to the break in for engine

run-in and break in are similar terms where in mostly the term run-in refers to a complete car rather than one or two parts such as engine or tires

do you know their is a run in period aka break in timeframe for tires too ? google and learn

Well rebooting the stagnated thread.

I have given my vehicle for first routine and free service.

The first and reverse gear slotting problem is fully resolved now, the mechanic informed that the gear cable needed alignment. Now all the gears slot without any stress, it feels silky smooth.

Much needed cleaning was done, guys did OK job here.

Yesterday I with my family visited Bannergatta zoo, I was little worried about the single lane two way road, but no issues with the blind-spots and maneuverability. A small rough patch of road, Ecosport shined all the way.

While returning in excitement and misjudgment my left side mirror touched a pedestrian slightly at very slow speeds, I came back to my senses :)

I am really enjoying my car now, looking for a long journey.

Hi Graptor my ES is due for the first service. By the way where was your service done, which dealer? How much time did it take as it is the first service, looks like it might get over soon.
