Arm Rest Adjuster

I brought it from an accessorize shop near my place they quoted 950 but after bargaining I got it for 650 because there is only one piece for sale :)
Rakesh, can you please post some pics of how the arm rest is attached at the base?

Did you remove the seats to fix the arm rest?? Please share the detailed procedure to fix it. [confused]

I bought the arm rest but unable to fix it. [surprise]

I too have an Alto. Any help from you in this would be highly appreciated.

Got the Arm Rest installed.. had to remove both the front seats to get the job done.. [frustration]
Post installation review:
1. Arm rest is definitely in position with no shaking what so ever.
2. The sliding of front seats is become a problem as the base of arm rest keeps interfering with the movement. (The huge bolts which hold the seat belt lock into position gets stuck behind the base and moving the seat without a lot of effort is impossible) [shock]
3. Will try to check if the base can be modified a bit or the bolts can be changed to a little thinner ones.
4. Cannot engage the hand brake as smoothly as it used to be earlier. Was unable to locate the brake lever when I did a TD after installation.

Conclusion:

Long rides will definitely be comfortable as you can rest your arm on it rather than holding the gear bar all the time.

Instant hand braking can be a problem in case of an emergency!!

So people, you have your reasons for going or not going for the universal Arm Rest!!

Hope someone can remember my concern about the same topic sometime back. This is the real worry I had about fixing arm rest. Even though it might be a comfort on long drives [how many of us go on long drives oftenly] when it comes to safety the concern is maters.

Thanks for your review Fyzy09 and clearing my long time doubt.

Hi Sethu Sir,

You are most welcome..
Having said instant hand braking can be a problem, it can still be made easier by just folding the arm rest upwards.
So in case of an emergency you need to fold the arm rest first and then jam the brakes.. hell of a job within a fraction of a second.. [frustration]
Sorry for not adding this point in my last post :sorry:

:agree:Well, for the same reason I didn't fit it in my spark [frustration]. It looked good when I just tried it in a accessory shop. It was really comfortable with the very useful extra utility space beneath the arm rest. But I didn't want to take any chance with the brakes.

Lucas, that was a safe decision you made even after all the tempting it offered (Which I fell for) :stupid:

Having said that, I have never heard people have jammed the hand brakes to avoid a mishap in case of an emergency. Anyways, if the hand brakes are applied in hatchbacks like Alto or any other hatchback for that matter with a small wheel base, the result will only be a toppled car with a lot of scattered glass pieces all over the place.. [frustration]

Hi,

Yes, you would have to punch holes in to the hand brake case..
You can either remove the case its self, install the arm rest and fix it back or you will have to remove both the front seats and then install it..

Let me know if you need further information..

Rakesh,

I did not think removing the console box was an option, thanks for sharing that..
Snaps of the arm rest you mean?? [confused]
If its the arm rest then would post some today.. [:D]

Hi Rakesh,

Could u pls upload the pic how you have fitted the center arm rest in alto by removing the console near the hand brake.I m planning to do it myself. I like to see how you have installed the supporting side plates inside the console and then the armrest above the plates. I found this piece at StoreJi - Happy Shopping! and the price they quoted was Rs.988/- + free shipping. So I like to see before i place an order with them.

Thank You and Wish You Happy New Year

Installed Arrowhead free flow stock replacement air filter on my baby. Its works well. Before, on high RPM with AC on, my car felt out of breath several times. Now it’s gone. I tried to redlining on third gear with AC. It’s smooth and rev fast. But I am not convinced, because my brother (who is working with Maruti) disagreeing me it’s because of new filter not free flow.

Somebody please advise me, what the advantages of free flow are and how to notify it.

BTW I am sharing some photos

Dear All,
I need a help and expert opinion from you. My friend owns Maruti's ALTO 2007 and with "NATIONAL INSURANCE" .He today had a minor accident in which his car bumped into a manhole. The engine oil tube broke off and engine oil leaked. Being a new driver he could not identify the red signal on the odometer and continued to drive the car. The car stopped after a few kilometers and refused to start. A mechanic has told that the car engine's piston has locked in between and has damaged the whole engine which needs a change in total-charging about 25000/-
Insurance from maruti's insurance company - can he get a claim for the amount. The maruti dealer has told that this damage will NOT be covered under insurance
