Can any one see the Indica crossing? Fog was so mcuh and it was actually awesome, beautiful and at times dangerous as well. [:D]

Safety precautions on Mumbai-Nashik express way, in case of brake fail hit the ramp :-)

Last Friday I have to go to Nashik and need to reach there by 5 PM. I left office at 1 pm. Usually it takes me anything from 2.5 - 3 hours to reach Nashik. But this trip I had ample of time, so thought let this ride be a FE oriented ride. Here are the outcomes of the same.

After this point. I went on for spirited driving and the results are below.

One thing I understood after this ride. If you want good FE from your PUNTO, No need to be a sedate driver. You just need a strong mind to hold on to the temptation to drive PUNTO in the way it is to be on highways. [:D]

Just FYI. If you closely look ODO it is displaying the reading of 14k KM. So the PUNTO is due for the second service and the state of the car is not at its best and still I was able to extract such good figures. SO am hoping to get better figures after second service if at all I perform same feat again. [clap]

24 kmpl!!!

The best I could manage on a highway was 17 kmpl. Of course, I cannot control my right foot...!

When my car was new, I managed 22 kmpl in city. It was a Sunday and hence negligible traffic.

22kmpl in city [surprise]. Even if it is empty road. I have never managed more than 18kmpl in City.

Today PUNTO's boot door got damaged heavily. Was due to my mistake.

As everyday, I left for work. As usual there was a car behind my car, so need to take out that car, then take out my car and park again the other car and then cruise off to work in my car. As the place where i stay is not big society, we have to revrse the car either while parking or while removing. So we all park it straight and remove it in reverse.
SO today morning, after parking the other car back to it's place, I was coming to my car, I saw there was nothing in front of society gate and I can easily take reverse out of the society.

Sat in car.
Shifted to the reverse gear.
Checked IRVM, nothing behind.
Checked Left ORVM, all clear. (Note: My mistake din't checked Right ORVM [anger])
Started taking reverse.

And there was loud THUDDDD my PUNTO hitting something. Again checked IRVM can see nothing. Was really confused what I have hit. Then checked right ORVM and to my bad luck a BMC garbage dumper was standing there and I have hit it's tail which was the lower height, so was not visible from the IRVM. It was my big big mistake that I din't checked right ORVM.

Came out of car to check the damage. And here is what I found.

I really got very upset. Whole drive from home to office I dint utter even a single word. My wifey was trying to console me saying "Don't worry such things happen with car and we will get it done and re paint entire car." . But how to explain her, that for her and others it is just a car, but for me it is more than a car. I really felt like hurting a loved one with my own hands. [cry].

I think codename47 was right in saying, I have bad driving skills. And here is the proof of that.

Now questions:

My car is due for second service and I have tomorrow's appointment with Fortune Motors. Should I get this fixed from TASS or from outside somewhere?

Dear Dharmesh,

Its really sad to see your beloved beauty in such a state. All car lovers understand your sentiment! Even a small scratch leaves a dent in our heart! But as your wife suggested, at times its better to think practically. Don worry, your beauty will be back to its original soon.

I would prefer getting it treated at Tata / Fiat body shop. For eg, the showroom where I got my Punto in Bangalore has a very good body shop set up. Have heard many good reviews about it. I am bit uncomfortable if a 3rd party handles my Punto. So if possible check the quality of work at your showroom's body shop and then decide.

Wish to see your beauty back to normal soon. Good luck [thumbsup]

A suggetion: From the pics, couldnt spot rear parking sensors. Please do install the same. It will really help in avoiding such a mishap and heartbreak.

That's the first thing I said to wifey after the hit. After putting PUNTO back in shape first thing that I need is Reverse parking sensors. [;)]

Fortunately rear glass was not damaged. And I am able to open/close boot properly. So the damage is only in the exteriors. More will come to know, only when I take her to Surgeon, to do a paint surgery and she will back in shape. [clap]

My heart bleeds when I see such things happening to a car. Please get it repaired asap. Get it done at TASS if they have their own bodyshop- Tuscan Wine would be a hard colour to match as far as outside body shops are concerned. I guess they may have to repaint the entire tailgate in order to match the colour.
