Congrats !

XUV 500 is manageable without a side step. How are people above 50 Yrs , are they managing easy to ingress?
My Dad and Mom is 55+ and they used it.

I think it's has more role than only how much it get used, like it looks really nice on XUV and some time helps prevent SpeedBreaker bumps too.

My MiL and grand mother finds difficult to climb in Scorpio and XUV so we keep a fordable stool when ever they are travelling. Something like in attachment. Got it @290 at D-Mart.

I don't think so side steps provides any great help in climbing (instead a grab handle would do much) but they improve appearance. The downside is that GC is compromised.

Hey Manuman,
Have read your entire review and I have few question on leasing thing.
How does ALD helps us to save tax and how much exactly we save?
What exactly is our benefit.
How much EMI needs to be paid to ALD?
Who cover the accidental damages?
Who pays for premium?
@dicor
Firstly, consider leasing as an option if you plan to own the car only for 3~5 years. Google for more details.

The lease EMI I pay is exempted from tax; and even the fuel expenses (different companies have different policies) is exempted. In my case, my EMI and fuel expenses was nearly 6 lakhs per year, and I straight away saved 30% of 6 lacs, which is 2 lakhs (nearly 20K per month).

Apart from tax benefit, I did not have to pay for insurance. That's a decent saving in itself. Any damage, is fixed by leasing company (either thru insurance or their own tie up with workshops).

The EMI depends on the vehicle cost. Of course, you pay the premium.

I have some calculation sheet for lease Vs own, petrol Vs diesel. Ping me offline if you need more details.

That's hell lot of benefits. I am feeling [frustration] after reading it. Wish I would have got this information 15 days ago.

Can you please share those sheets with me? I will PM the details.

Thank you.

5. Finally, the clutch is giving some problem now - thanx Mahindra [frustration] There was some feeble noise and discomfort when you press, but the pedal is not struck. Still able to drive for more than a week now. Visited Sireesh and the RM needs a day/two to diagnose and fix, depending on the problem. Needs fixing (busy with a client visit) asap – before it breaks down on the road; shall complete it in next couple of weeks. I dont suspect it is to do with the driver. It is known issue with Mahindra, and perhaps the city traffic, to be blamed.
Got the clutch issue fixed, through an expensive affair. 37.5K to be precise; yet to receive the final invoice, as their computer was down (they promised to email but haven't done it). The SA at Mahadevpura/Bangalore Mahindra ASS claimed issue mainly with fly-wheel, hence I need to change fly along with kit clutch cover disk assembly. Again, busy week at the office hence I couldn't go witness it myself hence had to make a decision on the phone.

Here are the pictures from replaced spare parts (old / damaged). For my naked eye I dont see much of an issue with most, except some wear-tear. Need some expert review / comments please.

The drive has been smooth after that, as expected. I dont know if it is driving style or the typical city traffic. Couple of my friends alludes this to city traffic, as they too have replaced clutch parts in/around 40K. My car is nearly 49K on the odo and I dont want to blame my drivers or myself. Considering the kind of mileage I am getting (~13KM) in the city traffic, it is unlikely the driving style.

My only regret is not going for extended warranty, though I was advised right here in TAI to take it up. No point in regretting now. I am not surprised with the clutch problem, as I have been driving Mahindra for 11+ years now.

Looking forward to Some expert review / comments please.

If you had opted Extended Warranty, then except Clutch rest thing would be cover in it's warranty?

No. Clutch Plates or Flywheel cannot be covered in warranty as its a wear & tear item. In some goodwill cases, Mahindra HAS replaced Clutch plates, if they believed a Manufacturing defect ruined them.

Only Master cylinder is covered.

My Cutch Failed at 35k Kms. They replaced Cylinder and it started working like new. SVC believe Clutch plates shall last more than 75K kms. I have achieved 68K Kms now. Yes City traffic puts toll on Clutch.
