Great detailed analysis. This is what i call a sensable move. Go on man and grab it. [thumbsup]

Are you sure about the 6 years thing. Because generally it is 2+2 years. 2 years normal warrenty and 2 for the extended one.

Please put more light on it. Others please share your thoughts as well.
Actually i mean to say that with (2+2) 4 year warranty you have no tension of fault of any parts and replacements due to mfg. defects. The 4th service will be due when the car completes 4 years. So with 4 year AMC you can rest assured till the 5th birthday of the car, when the 5th service will be due. Sorry for the wrong quote.

@Akash : Yes, you are correct. But one thing is sure as far as polo is concerned, this car has a character and we can not do much with the choice of colours as far as interiors are concerned. Further i got seat covers also this saturday. That too plain beige after searching a lot for various colour options. I found beige the most suitable colour for her. Will post pics soon.

ashikava fine set of floor mats. in order to save the beige mat from getting dirtied i got a trnsparent plastic sheet installed on the floor from a local accessory shop for rs 1000/ with out allowing the fellow to remove the plastic side pads. they just tucked the edges beneath the pads.i have posted its pictures in my thread on my vento.

Is the sudden jump from 19900 to 34072 is due to brake pads, fuel filter and spark plug only? I think 3 yr would be a wise decision at 45k kms.

Yes off course . This huge diffference is due to these parts.
Anyway whether you buy 3 year or 4 year the total savings will be around 9k./ 11k. So keeping in view that there may be increase in oil/ parts price in future , i have opted for 4 year AMC.
I am sure about oil may go up to twice of its present price which is now 970/- per litre. Hence i bought 4 year AMC for 34072/-.
The 2nd and 4th service has following components which are costly:
Brake shoe - 5745.81 (set of 4)
Brake Pad - 2436.74 (set of 4)
Fuel filter - 413.00
Spark plug - 276.48 (set of 3)

Now i am waiting for the dealer to start selling extended warranty, which they have not started yet in Mumbai.

Why is the 4th year AMC so costly? They are changing the spark plugs , brake pads and shoes even during second service but still till the 3rd year AMC its cheap. 4th year AMC alone comes around 15k which is almost 3/4th the cost of the first 3 services. I don't get the logic!

And are you sure if the oil price increases you do not have to pay the extra cost? If yes , then its good! Sometimes things like these would be mentioned in T&C'S.

All items covered under the AMC will be replaced by VW without charging any cost. Even if there is any increase in Cost of labour and consumables, nothing will be charged from the customer. Only things not covered under AMC will be paid. The dealer told me that all the items covered under the AMC are compulsory replacements at the interval of 15000kms/1 year whichever is earlier. Frankly speaking the normal service will cost around 8000/- and the 2nd and 4rth will cost around 15-16k. So anyway the customer will end up paying 48-50 for 4 services. And you know when it goes from your pocket, they will ask to replace the whole engine. So on the safer side, i preferred to spend 34k now and rest for 5year(when the 5th service is due). The average of 4 year comes 8500/-. Even the normal service they are charging the same amount.

Alright i get it now! But frankly speaking Polo's maintenance is very high! Now if this is the case for Polo , now i can't even imagine Jetta and Passat!

I highly appreciate your decision though! The dealer can't take you for a ride now , i would have definitely chosen this AMC too if i had bought a german car , since its well known german cars are not cheap to maintain.

Thanks for your kind words. Yes now a days almost german cars(including BMW) comes with such packages. You never know, govt. keep on changing policies and levy duties on CBU and CKD and imported parts. So, I took this decision as i always prefer piece of mind and i always plan things keeping in view all future possiblilities.

@mastersquall yes you are correct. But the pleasure of owning and driving a volkswagen is unmatched. The quality levels are nowhere seen in other cars. When you drive it, you feel like sitting in a safe tank like structure. At high speeds you can feel its dynamics and robust build quality.

Further to my post i am posting here the calculation for AMC against normal service with price as on date. Hope this will help other Polo owners/seekers to decide one:[:)]
The price increase in future will also add to savings.

Ashikawa, thats an exhaustive research you have done[clap]. I agree that the German cars are superior when it comes to quality, i was especially blown away by the fit and finish of the Polo when i sat in it for the first time, however the service costs look too steep for a hatchback.
