Sorry for the delay in replying. The ride quality is superb. Stable at high speed. Steering is joy to use. Its' a speed related variable assist servotronic steering, which has both hydrolic and electric support. Gear is sure slot and butter smooth, really joy to use. Don't expect a sudden power surge in 4th and 5th gear. 3rd gear is the best tool for city. The power output is consistent and enjoy driving very much. I can not comment on fuel efficiency as i have not checked it till date. Though the reported fuel efficiency for petrol by users is 12 city 16 higway with AC on. I am satisfied with the quality of the product, which is a class apart in all aspects.

Servotronic
Servotronic offers true speed-dependent power steering, in which the amount of servo assist depends on road speed, and thus provides even more comfort for the driver. The amount of power assist is greatest at low speeds, for example when parking the car. The greater assist makes it easier to maneuver the car. At higher speeds, an electronic sensing system gradually reduces the level of power assist. In this way, the driver can control the car even more precisely than with conventional power steering. Servotronic is used by a number of automakers, including Audi, General Motors, BMW, Volkswagen, Volvo, SEAT and Porsche. Servotronic is a trademark of AM General Corp.(source: en wiki)

Speed Dependent Power Steering
The speed-dependent control of the power steering enhances manoeuvrability and comfort, consequently boosting safety. Power assistance is at its highest level at low speeds, when manoeuvring for example. This means that the car is very easy to handle. At higher speeds, an electronic sensing system gradually reduces the level of power assistance. Good news- Update on extended Warranty

A good new for all Polo seekers/ owners.

Extended warranty is made available by VW for Polo and Vento. The cost is as under:

Polo (Petrol) - 7199
Polo (Diesel) - 7899

Vento (Petrol) - 10599
Vento (Diesel) - 11199

This applicable for further 2 years with 1,00,000 kms, whichever is earlier. So now one can avail a standard + extended warranty of 2+2 years or 1,00,000 kms. whichever is earlier. The same has been confirmed with VW Cochin over telephone. They informed that warranty has been made available this week.

Did you get the rear floor mats in a single piece ?, As in the large one covering the whole area which includes the drive train tunnel? I am hunting for one for my In-law's Polo.

Yes, I bought it aftermarket( not available in showrooms) . These mats are available in three colours in accessories dealers i.e. Golden, black and transparent. This is a set of four mats two for the front, one single for rear which covers the tunnel also and third for the boot priced around 1500/- and is of good quality. The aftermarket was also available in showroom but the boot mat was missing. This rear one piece is very important as it saves the floor carpet(tunnel area) from getting dirty.

Update on AMC for Polo Petrol

Further to my post on extended warranty yesterday. VW dealers in Mumbai confirmed that Annual Maintainance Contract is available for Polo 1.2 Petrol for a period of 03 years / 45000kms ( each service is due 15000kms or 1 years whichever is ealier )at the cost of 19900/- it will include three annual services at the interval of 15000kms or 1 year whichever is earlier. This includes oil change, oil Filter,Air Filter/ Brake shoe & pads and labour.

While enquaring about extended warranty, it was informed that the extended warranty programme has been announced yesterday itself. So, it may take a day or two for the dealers to make all the details available to customers. I think VW Cochin is very fast in transmitting information to customers.

This AMC is real good from VW especially for more costlier cars!


BTW this AMC does not cover accidental repairs or broken parts right?
