Fast and Furious 7: Much More Than a Movie!
We all have been ardent admirers of the Fast and Furious franchise since the past 6 installments and know the whole cast and the previous stories of the installments by-heart eve n today. So what’s new? For many the Fast and Furious 7 would just be an extension in the franchise but after seeing this movie I felt that it was much more than just another extension/installment of the already popular franchise.
My personal point of view shall revolve more about the stars of the movie than the storyline. For the past all installments we all were accustomed to seeing GTRs, Dodges, Supras et al and to be honest this installment does have its fare share of car moments. But what is more important is the fact that it is a true homage, a true tribute to the actual star of the Franchise, Sir Paul Walker. Seeing him in this movie was nothing less than a really eyes-moist moment.
In the scene where he enters in the movie, never for a moment I realized that reality is different from what’s being shown in the movie. The same enthusiasm, the same humor he has shown in the entire movie. This installment has surely got more to it than just drag races and showcase of pimped up rides and street racing which I really loved because seeing the same thing for past 6 installments has probably taken a toll on me now and thankfully this one offered something different. The installment is surely action packed just like we see many other Hollywood movies. This installment has actors of previous installments too specially the 2 actors from Tokyo Drift installment. The new installment has many new additions to the star caste like Ramsy, Safar (Ali Fazal) and Jason Statham but the story mainly revolves around the usual gang of pals Letty, Dom, Ron, Tez, Brian(God Bless), Dwayne (Hobbes) and Mia.
This movie is not simply revolving around the nitro cylinders and suspensions but it’s about a tracking device which the gang has to retrieve. To be honest Jason Statham has been a real misfit for the installment. The story according to me does deserve the due credit minus the Statham. While watching, my focus was more on the usual gang and to be honest, none of them have disappointed with their performances. Right from the beginning till the end, the movie did not leave me bored maybe because my criteria of judging the movie are slightly different. Initially, Dom and Letty come together again with Letty still suffering from Alzheimer and as usual Dom tries to bring her memory back. Dwayne has a kind of guest appearance in this one as he has just maybe 15-20 minutes of total screen presence.
Talking about Paul Walker, Man, he actually gave a brilliant performance. Every scene in his presence re-instilled my faith in his flawless acting acumen. From being a family man with a happy family to a cop, he has acted really well. The Climax of the movie, what to say, a legendary one! Dom and Brian, in an iconic shot part their way and for the last time we see life in those Blue Eyes of Paul Walker and that heart -warming smile which shall forever be missed now. The Climax of the movie is the one that made think that how easy it is that a beautiful life ends so soon and the background speech during climax by Dom (Vin Diesel) made me understand that no-matter how far a great soul may go, it shall surely be close to one’s heart.
To be honest, writing a few lines wouldn't have done justice to the movie. It was a movie in which I/we saw Brian (Paul Walker) for the last time. No matter how many more installments are made out for Fast and Furious, but probably no one can ever again fit in the shoes of FBI Officer Brian. None of the future installments shall be ever be as exciting as these present ones have been with an integral pillar of success Brian. For me, the only reason to go and watch this movie was “
For Paul”. There are really few movies that leave a lasting impression on one’s mind, the 7th Fast and Furious is one of them simply because of the legend Paul Walker. As I conclude, just would like to say, if you plan to watch this movie, go on and as an enthusiast of cars pay the last homage to Paul because there won’t be any other chance.
Long Live Paul! And Wish that this Movie also does as well at the cinemas as all its other franchise have done!
