Synthetic Engine Oil for Swift VXI (2014)

Hi All,

I wanted to do an engine oil change for my Swift (VXI -Petrol) which has completed 7k. The MS Authorized workshop is saying that they have been told by MS to use either Castrol 0W20 or Shell 5W30. They are not supposed to use synthetic oil for Swift.

I have got this reply across several MASS in Kerala. If i need to do it outside i,e with a local mechanic, could i just buy Synthetic oil and MGA Oil filter and give it to the mechanic for changing.

If this is the case, which is the economical & trusted synthetic oil brand / type for Swift VXI widely available in the market.

Note : I am new to this forum and this is my first thread.[:D]

If your car made after 2014 then go for Castrol 0W20 oil or Shell 0W20 MGO fully synthetic oil which is available at MGP distributors, if not go for 5W30.

Hi,

My Car is manufactured in Dec 2013. Is 5W30 a synthetic oil or Mineral oil. MASS has said that Castrol 0W20 is a mineral oil which they are putting in Swift(Petrol), by default right now.

I apologize, if the information provided by me is wrong as I am a new bee to this.

Should I call the MGA and ask for Synthetic oil for Maruthi Swift(Petrol) and what is the cost of the synthetic oil in the market.

Hi Surya,

Are you suggesting not to use Synthetic oil and to use MS suggested 5W30 Mineral oil.

The last Syntehtic oil change was done at MS Authorized Dealer workshop which was Castol 5W40.

I am very happy with the performance & would conitue using Synthetic oil, however MS is not supporting use of Synthetic oil for Suzuki Swift petrol now.

Why would you suggest me to opt for Mineral oil when i would like to go for Synthetic oil.

Not able to understand your reply however i do appreciate it.

Simple, I strictly follow what user manual and service manual suggests. You car's user manual suggests 5W30 viscosity grade suitable to that engine and designed for. But 5W30 synthetic not available so despite of good results I will prefer user manual and service manual suggests 5W30 grade over any other grade no matter it is synthetic or mineral. If 5W30 synthetic available I will go for it. Important thing is maintaining company recommended grade. check your user manual they mention correct grade with grey colour and mentioned its the optimal grade. you use that grade .

Folks,[frustration]

This is very sad that a forum like this with geeks have no time to help. I see only one person "Surya" responding.[frustration]

What is the point of having forums like these if no one is ready to suggest or help?.[frustration]

there's no use of synthetic oil if your running is 7k a year.
also first confirm if they used semi-synthetic or synthetic oil before.
if you can find the bill upload it here,

there are different viscosity level , 0w20 can be mineral , it can be fully synthetic.
