Warranty side big minus[sad], but failures are rare and I have purchased many from outside the country.

In my next posts I am posting complete installation procedure.

I bought my Dzire ZDI (AGS) this July. I guess I know what sound is that, it's not a rattle. I think it comes from the door rubber sealing, just for a test apply some Vaseline to all those rubber lines(all 4 doors) and check if the sound comes. I am demanding replacing these in my 3rd service. Let's see if I win.

Yes, you were right, some noises come because of this, but thats something intermittent, so I can live with that as it can ignored.

I know out of nowhere I am replying to this but was just going through this thread.

cheers

Hello Everyone,

This thread is silent since long, I have one question here, has anybody done any modifications to their cars both in terms of exterior/interiors. Any experiments with paint jobs or stripes or any such modifications ?

Also i would like to give a quick update of my dZire.

I have complete approx 4.7K kms on ODO in 4months.

Recently i took a long drive of around 1100 km (mumbai ->belgavi->kolhapur->khopoli->Mumbai)

and this time i experienced a variety of driving conditions, like waiting for long queue for the toll on almost all tolls, cruising on highways at around 120kmph or sometime 140kmph, drove constantly switching between 1st & 2nd gear for almost half and hour on the ghat section due to heavy traffic, saw almost 50-60 cars sidelined with their bonets opened. some said car got heated up and some said their clutch plate got burnt and to my surprise a lot of the cars were powerful ones, like 2-3 dusters, few hondas, few big suvs too. And my AC was continuously on 2 speed or sometimes 1 speed.

after this day, I thought lets check the fuel efficiency as I have covered almost all types of road conditions. I checked with full tank method, before leaving for this trip I had fueled up full, and again filled after this day, and I got 18kmpl. :D

and on my return journey I didnt get any traffic nor did i get any ghat, It was all plain highways, and then when I checked my fuel efficiency i got 20kmpl. Again with AC on.

So i am happy with what I have got.

If anybody wants to add anything you're welcome.

Cheers

Every inch of your words are true, your experience is the testimony of Suzuki cars reliability, trouble free ownership and customer satisfaction.. Most people believe Maruti means some thing lacking behind like technology etc.... but actually not, they are very good cars and technically excellent.

@suryaputra,

thinking of getting the unit in my Baleno Zeta replaced with aftermarket one. The main reason for this is sound depth- the zeta's HU doesnt have the sound depth and quality that the Pioneer unit had in my Swift. Navigation and touchscreen is not of any interest to me as those I do off my phone anyway. My main concern in getting these chinese units is the lack of any repair option, finish of the unit after installation and the loss of operation of bluetooth and steering controls.

As an additional question, what is your take on the engine oil issue- the oil they put in at 3rd service is supposedly Servo semi synthetic 0w-20. After the change, I notice the engine was appreciably more lethargic and slow to pick up. Since then its been 6.3k km. In the interim, I had a discussion with the Maruti TSM and he suggested to put in full synthetic oil at 15k km. But when I asked him for something in writing so that I do not face warranty issues, he didnt respond. The ASC is not even open to the full synthetic idea and I couldnt even get 0w-20 oild either MGO or otherwise then. But I found it now (of all places on Amazon) and was wondering what I should do

Kindly guide on both counts

Why not change the speakers first? In my Alpha, I find the rear ones to be louder than the front ones. It is usually the other way in most cars. Do you also feel the same?

Regarding loss of steering mounted controls, there is a seperate module available for connecting steering controls with aftermarket units. Not sure about bluetooth controls, but I have seen basic (vol. and channel up, down, mute) buttons working through these modules.

Been there, done that. My swift had that pioneer (3690ui) system with Infinity 6502ix coaxials and the sound depth was just wow. I saved them from that car and replaced the rear speakers on the Baleno. The fronts, I didnt change mostly because the installer suggested not to change at this stage. This made sound better in the rear but added another niggle- the rear left speaker switches off (actually, the sound dims) at low volume and then comes back on par with the other speakers when you increase the volume only to go back dim when you reduce it again. Not sure if that speaker related on to do with the HU but it doesnt bother because the real issue is that the sound depth just isint the same as the Pioneer. Its difficult to explain- you know the difference between the sound you get on FM versus that you play off the USB? Something similar

Regarding functionality, the issue is I want a tested package. The way my luck has been recently, something out of the ordinary I do is bound to fail

@Ameyam, Sorry for the late reply, quite busy with professional works, coming to topic first we look into engine oil because it is most important and it is blood to engine.

In Type 3 K12MN engine block is entirely new, resin coated pistons and low tension piston rings, new engine head and new one set valves. They have redesigned entire PCV system with new PCV valve. New air intake, new throttle valve, new injectors and new intake manifold. They have redesigned oil sump with out baffles to reduce the crankcase pressure. So the engine oil is strictly 0W20 only. You can not use thicker oils. I have had several discussions with my college days friend in my M.Tech, presently working in MSIL as a senior design engineer. I myself personally researched and concluded 0W20 is the only oil for type 3 k12MN. I don't know how come reasonal service engineer told some other grade of engine oil, its just slow poisoning of your car.

Company filled engine oil in your K12MN engine is total or shell brand engine oil which is fully synthetic.

Why do you wait switching to fully synthetic when car comes with fully synthetic oil from the factory. I have changed my car oil at 1000km Shell 0W20.

K12MN engine uses fully synthetic gear oil, replacement is after 10 years or 1,60,000km. So your car is already synthetic, don't go by the people with lack of present updates.

I have tried two cans of Indian oil servo 0W20 worst quality ever seen in my life. Use shell. You get filter for Rs.100 from MGP go to any shell centre and replace oil with 0W20, why do you want tell your dealer that you have changed engine oil by your own. They can not verify you have changed engine oil because there is no serial no on oil filter. I have changed engine oil at 1000km and 5000km but not told my dealer the same, as usual they have done the third service. I have my warranty.

Regarding the system, I always look into cost effective and alternative solutions which meets or exceeds overpriced brands, because being a manufacturer I know brand Image adds upto 35%. When I have asked Pioneer the best model costs Rs.50,000. People say android auto and apple car play what exactly they are? These two platforms can be connected to your system. Car manufacturers and brands looting customers with these names. Same thing can be achieved in aftermarket.

I love my system, beautiful screen, great interface, can be customised like anything being android, better sound quality than stock audio, provision for extra amplifier and sub woofer setup. Vol+,Vol-, Mode, Mute, Seek, up Seek down working straight away. No extra interface required steering wheel control setup is purely software based. Call calling, call end can be used via touch screen of the system. I am figuring out to setup Bluetooth controls too. In my opinion my system exceeds Maruti offering in alpha, Brezza Zdi+ and other top models.

Hi suryaputra,

I didnt ask the ASC to put in servo. On the Swift they themselves had put in synthetic. I came to know the put servo later. Discussing with my trusted mechanic, he said servo is just ok but, i had already spent, he said to put in synthetic at 15k.

When the time came, i couldnt get synthetic 0w20. Heck, i couldnt even get servo 0w20. The TSM had suggested thicker oil but didnt stick to his word and didnt even give in writing to use 0w20 synthetic. So i asked my friends at the ASC and they weren't open to synthetic like i said. Anyway that time has now passed.

Should i change to synthetic now at 16.3k km or wait till 20? If i do change now, i will be using it for less than even 5k km. If there is no real harm in keeping servo, i may as well not spend

I am giving up on the HU for now, may settle for a tweeter update (suggest if you have any insight). Cash strapped for now

Hi Ameyam, There are two types of fully synthetic oils

1. Group III is synthetic oil (hydro cracked base stock) which is cost effective does the job, example Shell, Total and Idemistu. This type of engine oil is enough for our cars.

2. Base of the oil itself synthetic which is costly example Mobil 1 and few others. This oil is not required for our cars.

Pls wait up to 20K and change oil with shell or total.

Regarding tweeters I am using stock tweeters, I hope you can try Alpha model tweeters in mgp stores.

Hi Suryaputhra,

Excellent thread and updates on the car thank you very much.

My Brother is planning to buy Dzire VXI AT variant for this wife. He is specifically needs AT as his wife is novice in driving.

Can you shed some light on AT variant or at the same cost should we go for ZXI manual ?
Also for AT Maruti SA told me that the mileage will be very low around 12-13 how true is this ?

Thanks,
Satyajeet

Yes fuel economy is poor, spare parts availability is not very good, if you want to sell car after four to five years then its OK, but for a woman driver AT is best.
