Re: Celerio and Eeco To Get Sub 1-Liter Diesel Engine in 2016

Still I cannot digest the theory of two cylinder diesel . Any way have to wait and see the vehicle in real life.

Re: Celerio and Eeco To Get Sub 1-Liter Diesel Engine in 2016

Celerio diesel ready for launch shortly. Production in full swing.

Maruti will be using an absolutely new 793CC two cylinder engine, with an expected output of 52-58HP at a peak torque of 150-160 nm. The Diesel variant will follow the same lines of the petrol version without any changes in the styling and features. The Celerio diesel would be priced anywhere between 4.9 to 5.7 lakhs.
The Celerio diesel with an expected mileage of 30.1Km/l will become the most fuel-efficient car in the country

Re: Celerio and Eeco To Get Sub 1-Liter Diesel Engine in 2016

Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel to get a taxi variant. It has the potential of killing the Indica which is currently serving the market. Maybe also Tata's upcoming Kite?

After tasting decent amount of success with the Dzire Tour, Maruti Suzuki is eyeing the taxi segment yet again. This time, it will be with the popular Celerio hatchback.
Next month, Maruti will launch a diesel powered version of the Celerio in India.

This diesel powered version could also cater to the taxi segment, probably with a stripped down variant.

WTF!!!! 2 cylinder diesel engine for close to 5+lakhs!!! What the hell are you thinking MS!! I'd rather buy 4 bikes + biker-gears and give it to my co-passengers and we travel merrily. Even if I hire a guy to keep umbrella for me while all 4 drive, it would be better than this.

God, out of frustration I start typing something rubbish. God help us!

Hi Buddy,

Dont get frustrated just with the number of cylinders, lets have some analysis.[;)]

Compare Celerio diesel with the Chevrolet Beat Diesel, since its the car with the closer price tag and with the closer number of cylinders[roll]

Beat diesel gives 57.1 PS of power output and 142.5 Nm of torque.
According to the reports Celerio diesel gives 52-58PS of power output and 150-160Nm of torque. Lets take the lower values 52PS and 150Nm.

Kerb weight of beat diesel is 1027kg ie approx 62kg higher than its petrol variant.
Kerb weight of celerio petrol is about 810kg, so its diesel variant should comes under 900kg.

Now lets compare its power to weight ratio
Beat: 57.1ps/1027kg =.055 ps/kg
Celerio: 52ps/900kg = .0577 ps/kg

Boot space
Beat: 170L
Celerio: 235L

Since celerio is having a bit more head room, it should give a feel of more roomier interior.

And one more thing, Celerio gives 30kmpl in against to beat's 25kmpl[clap]

Verdict: As per the available details, I don't find any reason to blame this celerio diesel. Now lets see how its gonna perform on roads. A final judgment can be done after going for a test drive. :)

Regards.,

price difference between MS Celerio LXI and Celerio LXI AMT is almost 60K looks like Maruti doubled the price of Celerio AMT So its clear that Maruti Celerio DDIS LXI AMT price will touches to 6Lacks or more

Maruti Celerio diesel dealer dispatch starts this month, launch by June

Maruti will start dealer dispatch of the Celerio diesel this month, and a market launch will take place towards the end of this month, or in the early part of June. A previous report said that production of the small diesel car had already commenced at Maruti’s Manesar plant.

Power for the Celerio diesel will come from Suzuki’s first self-developed diesel engine, which is reported to be a 0.8-liter twin-cylinder unit, matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Kenichi Ayukawa, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, said that this engine will deliver “closer to 30 km/l”.
Maruti will be manufacturing 100,000 units of this diesel engine in the first year before expanding production capacity, or even application to other small passenger vehicles. However, the Tata Ace rivaling LCV, codenamed ‘Y9T’, is expected to borrow this engine.

Re: Celerio and Eeco To Get Sub 1-Liter Diesel Engine in 2016

Maruti at last started thinking about security.ABS in VDI is a welcome approch. They should have done it for Petrol VXi too. Try braking a celerio in a wet patch of road and you will definitely become a believer. Two cylinder engine at 6 lacs ? This will fit directly in the Taxi segment .They had kept the pricing so high so that Ritz will still sell? [confused]

Celerio will come in ZXI variant in AMT variant.

Maruti Celerio Zxi AMT spied - Exclusive
ZXi doesn't have Airbags/ABS in Manual version. Only ZXi(o) has those, it would be good if Maruti offers Celerio AMT in ZXi(o) trim instead of ZXi. I expect same for Diesel Celerio, but knowing Maruti they might skip the ZDi(o) version citing High Price etc the reason.

TATA Kite 1.05L Dicor maybe better option and better product then maruti suzuki Celerio DDIS
"May Be" or even if "it is good" ,Indians will like to buy the tin cans from maruti. Can't blame them as Tata dealers are experts in making customers walk away.
