re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Coming Up!Now Launched

Even when polo with cruise control, figo comes with 6 airbags, jazz comes with paddle shifters & 7 speed cvt, i20 with 90ps power and none of these offered in baleno and Suzuki calls it PREMIUM and VW, ford, Honda or Hyundai never claimed of such a tag of premium in any of their hatchback. What kind of SO CALLED PREMIUM IS SUZUKI TALKING ABOUT. The only premium I find is the projector head lamps with drl and that is offered only in top end version. I find it amusing the so called NEXA, PREMIUM, BALENO tag is going to make another sticker job like mods which maruti puts in every festive season. If Suzuki wants this baleno to keep charts on fire, put a better headlamp than the same swift headlamp and make projector with drl in all variants. Want to ask Suzuki only one thing, WHAT'S THE USP OF THIS CAR? WHAT'S THE SPECIAL FEATURE IT HAS COMPARED TO OTHERS TO CALL IT PREMIUM?

To add to this baleno is 100kgs less than swift, which was already proved as structurally unstable build and was scored a big 0 in ncap rating. So reducing a 100kg from the so called structurally unstable build will definitely needs an answer. I know it's a new platform, but Suzuki when u say premium u should prove customer's life is safe in their car. If Suzuki is confident, they should sent a car for crash test and prove its worth our money and for the PREMIUMS, till then I'll look at some car which is at least structurally stable. I know Lesser weight will not necessarily mean flimsier all the time. It depends on the tensile strength of the materials used and the crumple zones. But being a Suzuki with all their cars with 0 ratings till now, I wonder this will be any better in safety even with airbags and abs. Prove what u mean by premium, I'll be first in queue if u prove its worth 5 stars.

Swift rating of Zero was because the tested car was having no airbags. With airbags it would have had a rating for sure.

Anyways coming to Baleno the discussion on saftey can go on and on. Be patient and await the Euro NCAP results .
For Indian cars ( Baleno) if you still suspect then await the local safety test for accessing the safety/ structural rigidity of this car.

re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Coming Up!Now Launched

The moment Maruti offers a 90 BHP Baleno, the S-Cross will struggle to sell. Thats the problem. Not car designs. Maruti is seriously short on engine variety. The overall limitations of Suzuki technology in diesels, resulting dependence on Fiat, combined with ridiculous Indian rules like tax waivers for 1.5 litres/4m length are now hampering them quite a bit. What MSIL should have done is to bring in the compact SUV first. The S-Cross is just a large hatchback.
The other thing is, Maruti is not sure if their regular dealer sales staff will ever be able to distinguish any redeeming feature about the Baleno vis-a-vis the Swift. Hence the move to sell it from the Nexa showrooms.

You have to wait till eternity since no Indian car is ever going to achieve 5 star rating (Tesla anyone?)

re: Suzuki's New Premium Hatchback Baleno Coming Up!Now Launched

Difference in European and indian baleno
European gets Projector HIDs where as indian will only get projectors.
European gets Diamond cut alloys, indian will not get the diamond polish
Indian baleno will have higher GC
Suzuki will offer the hatchback with adaptive cruise control with millimeter wave radar and a speed limiter, for enhanced comfort while cruising on motorways.
Europe boasts additional safety features such as a Radar Brake Support (with automatic emergency braking), ESP and six airbags (dual front+side and curtain) in addition to ABS and EBD.
Indian will however get India, the Baleno will get a maximum of two airbags, ABS and EBD as a standard feature.
European Baleno will be powered by the all-new 1.0-liter Boosterjet turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, which develops 110 hp and 170 Nm of torque. The Baleno for Europe will also get the 1.2-liter DualJet petrol engine with the SHVS micro-hybrid technology.
In comparison, the Baleno for India will borrow its engines from the Swift: the 1.2-liter K-Series and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel. The SHVS technology is likely to be offered on the diesel variant.

So I feel Suzuki will only extract premium money from indian buyers. Atleast barring the wave radar where there is a govt control, rest of the features should have been provided to indian so called premium baleno. If it is premium why give Swift engine? Well Jaago grahak Jaago.
