XUV is almost ready. Waiting for the fixed glass near the 3rd row. Apparently, Mahindra has sent them the right side one instead of the left....twice. Final bill amount would be 420k, they generated bill for the surveyor to see and kept all the replaced parts near the car for the surveyor to check. Took a test drive today. There were some alignment problem with tail lamps, but they promised it will be fixed before delivery. I couldn't find any difference while driving, the experience was same as before. Can anyone give me suggestion on what all i should look for before delivery?

A good gesture by the staff there, my mom bought some plants during the trip and they forgot about it while removing our belongings from the car. The staff found it and moved it to a paint can and poured water everyday. They gave it to me when i went there today.

HI Crazy Cat, Can you please share how much portion of that 5 big ones will be compensated from the comprehensive insurance?
No idea about that yet. The surveyor would see the car hopefully by tomorrow.

So some developments.

Yes. We can understand your situation. Wait patiently. Hope your XUV is back with full bright within a months time.
Thanks Mathew! Hopefully, I will get by next week.

hi Crazy_cat,

Sorry to hear about the accident , its good to hear that no one got injured and Good to hear that you have brought the beast back in action.

Even my muscular boy met with similar accident on the same route due to tractor guys ignorance when returning back from Coimbatore to Madurai last year on Jan 2013 exactly one month before my marriage .luckily my sister and driver survived .my sister want my beast to be ready before my marriage as we love him a lot. She worked with M&M and brought it to condition on time, sad thing was my dad got a mild attack after hearing this as we all loved our beast that much. Now our Beast is back in action and became the most favourite buddy to my father than earlier.

Thanks. Sorry to hear about your accident. This is our third accident near Madurai. Motorist there an ignorant lot, you can see 2 wheelers on right lane doing 50-60kph. And also whenever there is a gap in median, more often than not, you have to brake hard. Good to hear your dad is fine now.

Mechanically, i don't feel any difference. Just some rattles that needs to be taken care of. And there is a water seeping from the third row right side seat belt. Have to take it back to check that. Some new scratches on left ORVM and front windpocket. which we didn't spot during delivery, i only saw where they worked.

Regarding Insurance, we still have heard from the insurance. 10 days processing time, it seems.

As i said above, still not aware about how much money is going out of pocket. Lesson learnt, need to get zero dep insurance.
Looking forward to see you getting your own cheetah. Cai has been good for us, bought 4 vehicles from them. There's none of the appointment drama that you find with other service centres. Even if they are busy that day, they will accommodate you if it is urgent.

Gearshift occasionally became very hard in our car, sometimes refusing to slot in any of the gears. Turns out fifth gear's bearing has gone kaput. Replaced under warranty after 10 days at workshop for arrival of spares. It caused a bit of scare but vehicle is fine after that. To be on the safe side, we opted for the 5years/1,50,000km extended warranty, which is transferable to the next owner just in case we sell the car sooner.

On a good note, xuv owners are really treated well at service centre. We left the pen drive in the car during the long stay for gearbox, my rm took the pen drive and informed me about the same and returned back safely.

Where friends are

My friend had Honda Accord, & while travelling on 2x2 national highway, one motorcycle rider came no way from left side, & to save him, my friend took hard turn to right, & while doing so, crossed .5-1 feet high road divider with bushes & opposite lane, & while in opposite lane, remain just few feet from heavy truck. Vehicle went total loss by insurance but nothing happened to couple due to 4 airbags blown off & seat belts. But he is so scared now, he has decided to save motorcyclist till he is confident to be safe, otherwise absolutely will not hesitate to outrun that motorcycle rather than to take chance in opposite lane. Since then I also won't ride a motorcycle on highway.

There is only till a certain level you should steer at high speeds. This is very annoying, people driving on wrong side are very confident that they drive recklessly like a maniac.

My friend's Linea met with a minor accident involving bumper and headlamps. They did the job in 2 days. Very good, while VW has taken 3 days for a similar job in my Vento.

Hi extremely sorry to hear about your accident and am extremely glad that you family is safe so don't mind but i had a question - We are considering buying a XUV so do you think its a safe car? Do you think its structure held up well against the impact from the back side? Do you think the accident would have been worse if it had been a Fortuner?
