hi guys, I booked my XUV w8 FWD on 8th, i.e. I had sent the dealer all documents and cheque few days before the booking opened, and he said he will book on day 1. I called him today, and he says yes booking was done on 8th itself, but he is not providing any booking number and says I will get to know allotment no., date etc. only after M&M close the booking process. Any thoughts on this?

Lots of XUV's for the future owners of XUV from Chakan plant.

Btw not all are white XUV's they are paint protectors made of cover,to keep it brand new.

This is the latest update from SVP.

Quote from SVP of NDTV: "For all those who had doubts about whether M&M is making enough XUV500s to meet demand. I saw this sight at the new vehicle stock yard at the plant in Chakan, which has ramped up production. Pretty impressive. All XUVs aren't white as sonmeone asked - they're covered with the protective paper to shield paintwork in despatch. But with over 8000 bookings already even this near 5000/month production may not be enough :)"

That's right with the current demand, even 5K/month wont be sufficient plus they need to fulfil the export commitment's too, it's available in South Africa and from this month end it will also be made available in Australia.

The builder is just lying in this case. Ask him to send a scan copy as booking is done online by the dealer. If he doesn't scan copy, dash to the dealer & ask him for the cheque and see what happens.

Hi,

There is an order taking form (OTF) that you need to fill while booking. You also get a receipt of the payment with all your details. Also ask for a copy of the OTF. With OTF copy and receipt, you should be pretty sure about your booking being done.

Thanks for your comments, guys. I spoke to dealer, and he is sending me th eOTF and Money Reciept for cheque tomorrow. I hope, for his sake, that the booking was made on 8th itself and no one **around or else I am really going to collar someone.

hi guys - I recieved my OTF and MR on saturday, and the date was 8th June, so I'm a happy camper. Also, I met the owner of the dealership (he turned out to be an acquaintance). He assured me that the Australia and South Africa introduction of XUV is just marketing tactic of M&M to create an int'l branding for xuv500 to get more sales in India...and therefore export supplies should not hamper or delay domestic deliveries. I was told July is when I should expect the delivery. Fingers crossed.

I was informed by a guy in M & M that they are testing XUV 700 & planning to launch it in an year or so. The big difference is the length, which has been increased to accommodate some luggage like Aria. The pricing however will be more than XUV 500 W8. This may lead to less buyers for W8 though & maybe this will be the time when we can see W4.

It is also possible that Ssangyong UVs can be sold under M & M in India as this brand of Ss....yong is unknown in India.

^^^ Finally a good decision, so what if it's not by you..!

May I ask -

1) Why 3 XUVs?
2) Why are all silver?
3) Who was the decision maker? [:)]
4) What did you want to buy? I guess a Cruze or Laura...

LoL !!

May I ask -

1) Why 3 XUVs?
Coz 1 will be in Pune, other 2 will be at Nagpur.

2) Why are all silver?
All are W6. No white in W6.
Reason buying W6 is we don't have faith in W8 fancy gadgets & basic safety features are already there. And as the drive will be on roads only, AWD or hill ascent/descent system was not required. And for this spending 13% more was not worth.

3) Who was the decision maker?
Me. But I still hate UVs.
The producer wanted an item song, so choice was limited amongst available item dancers !! [lol]

4) What did you want to buy? I guess a Cruze or Laura...
+1. Other option was VW Jetta. For proper SUV, I recommended Chevy Captiva as all wanted something not too big like Ford Endy/Fortuner. Add to it poor A.s.s of Chevy in that area & no one wanted to spend 20L or more on UV. Other thing was Tod fod ho jaave to jyada kharcha na hoiyo ! (Even if UV is hit or gets hammered, the repair costs shouldn't be high).

Here is the complete story :-

My uncle, mama (maternal uncle) & brother wanted something which can carry 5-6 person. Here are different reasons.

Uncle - He already has few cars, & now required something which can be better to travel in rural/town areas & for emergency purpose to seat 6 person. More important aspect was depreciation & the amount which he could spent on vehicle was not more than 15L, not that he can't buy 20-30L vehicle but it wasn't fitting the bill for depreciation. In this range, there is nothing apart from XUV. Aria, sure it was there but he wouldn't be travelling with 6 person + luggage. In that case, they prefer 2 cars/sedans which is more comfy for long journeys & more safer & faster. Hence, the decision was more forced than voluntary one due to lack of option.

Mamaji - Is a fellow of influence in Vidarbha area of MH & many often he travels with no less than 5 person. XUV fitted the bill as short journeys are possible without major issue. And then there are rural areas also where he needs to travel & A.S.S should be good. Hence, M & M fitted the bill in budget. He already has Tata Indigo, Safari; so he said for change, he would like to opt for non-Tata. Aria was gone because of this.

Bro - Is copy cat of mamaji, whatever vehicle he wants to buy copies from that of mamaji. [lol] Though this is not the case for all vehicles but is true for atleast 70% of times. He liked XUV because of the raw look. And as he is involved in politics (supports our opposition party [frustration] ), he wanted something which looked brute. Aria was too sophisticated (He likes brute, I like sophistication). Add to it he owns Tata cars/Tata serviced cars like a Punto, Sumo (now sold), Grande, Indigo & wanted some change. He too wanted for depreciation benefit & something which can substitute grande. As Grande was well maintained & over 2 yrs old, he already had offers in hand. He though was happy with 5 seats coz last row will be used to carry his dogs & some goods, just the way they were in Grande. He has recently purchased a 68 acre property on Nagpur-Wardha road & built a farm house in it. The road inside the plot is of over 1.2 kms !! He is not planning to build tar road to maintain natural beauty, hence wanted something which can travel on kuccha road with heavy amount of goods (not luggage but something like household items & farm related stuff). He just wanted 5 seats + dog seats/rough goods carrier & XUV fitted the bill. The A.s.s of M & M is also good there.
He was happy with Storme but as there is no commitment of launch & he didn't want to loose depreciation, we opted for XUV; else we would be amongst first buyers of Storme.

Fortuner on other side are largely available in bulk in resale/2nd hand market in Vidarbha area because the maintenance costs after 1.5 yrs are tooo high, not to forget junk ride quality with bouncy ride. Many who own one have back probs after long distance travel. Fortuner was therefore not in the list in all cases.

And last but not the least, not all are true UV lovers; all own no less than 4-5 vehicles & this is mere addition to it. Even now, when they go out with family, it is the sedans & as usual, the ladies hate trucks so UV can never substitute our cars. :)

Will post pics & first hand experience once they are delivered.

Latest news as per ACI is that the AT version is further delayed because the original at transmission supplier has Gone bust. So they would now depend on ssangyong to fix them a supplier.
Expected time 2 years.

Also Awd is being delayed because of supply constraints since capacity was for 5% of all the bookings expected but actual bookings were close to 30% hence No new bookings for the AWD .

LoL. Good it happened first, else in case of gearbox damage/malfunction; those who would have bought AT version would have been left gear-less. [lol]

Expected time 2 years.
By then, XUV would have become obsolete/out-dated.

30% bookings for AWDs is big. Seems many XUV buyers don't know difference between AWD & 4x4 !!
