Here is the complete story :-

My uncle, mama (maternal uncle) & brother wanted something which can carry 5-6 person. Here are different reasons.

................

Will post pics & first hand experience once they are delivered.
Moral of the story : As you may have understood now, XUV fits the bill for many and that is the reason for its huge demand.

Oh no, now you have a reason to rant about the car. Now we can expect many criticisms and comparisons with Cruze/Jetta/Civic in multiple threads.

By then, XUV would have become obsolete/out-dated.
Scorpio still manages to sell 4k units a month. Its a decade old. The A/T came after 6 years of it's launch. So no worries on that part.

30% bookings for AWDs is big. Seems many XUV buyers don't know difference between AWD & 4x4 !!
I guess people do know the difference. But they also understand that a crossover like the XUV is not meant for off roading. So there is no need for a 4x4. An AWD is enough to get the car out from tricky situations.

Congrat's S-class, did you get any discounts on your purchase?when are you getting the delivery of all your car's?
Thanks. Nah, we didn't get a single paisa discount. No free accessories either. What they said though is they will try to get the delivery done ASAP. Just late last month, the dealer got 15 surplus XUVs, either cancelled or some more than expected from M & M, so many got deliveries in under 30 days.

On paper, delivery date is 3 months (W6 & W8 AWD requires more time than W8 FWD), but he said he will try for somewhere in mid-August.

It seems Maruti Dzire & XUV are 2 vehicles which are not giving any freebies.

I have already said before that XUV is good VFM, but please see that 1 XUV could have been replaced by Storme (Saved some money too) if it had been launched while other XUV was bought just because they wanted to try something new apart from Tata UVs. In reality, there is only chap- my bro who wanted to buy XUV at any cost...other 2 were not that fanatics.
But the vacuum between scorpio/safari & fortuner has been filled by XUV, hence good demand.

[lol]
Yes, will share even dealership & a.s.s. reports then, this being first Mahindra, no experience with a.s.s. (We had one mahindra earlier, it was though a tractor !! ).

Scorpy created a new segment of its own, fitted below safari & above bolero. Buyers here won't be as demanding as that of XUV.
Safari went on & on for 10+ yrs with changes here & there but tata won't be able to do the same with aria. Even captiva, endy got refreshed.

We will get XUV AT after few yrs, but surely that XUV will be different than current one & hopefully better one.

Yes, but I have seen people commenting that they wanted 4 wheel drive, hence they got XUV AWD. [lol]

You see, most of XUV buyers around Pune are those having brains in their knees, the typical local neta who got rich by selling land to builders.
Infact in the showroom, a chap said that why spend about 1.8L more for White color ? [lol]

Minor Update on the vehicle
I have had a short discussion last week in Gurgaon at dealer end. M&M yet to find a permanent solution for two things one is Brakes (disc+pads) and second is Doors not closing properly. Rest is already rectified in most of the vehicles.

This is little silly that they don't find solution for doors not getting closed rightly common they need to check the assembly line .

Hope this is done before mid Aug 2012. Else, there will be pravachan held by us at dealer's place.[lol]

Heck, still miss Laura [frustration]. Don't know why all were in mood for XUV [confused]. Will keep you all updated.
And not all will be in Pune, only 1 here, rest 2 in Nagpur.

+1, maybe they want to save cost in making new die-casts !!
There was similar problem for Indigo, Tata rectified it in Manza.
Post scorpio, I thought M & M must have improved, but these small things can make one go nuts. It is therefore, we didn't take risk to book W8 & settled for W6.

Note: The octroi difference between Pune & Pimpri-Chinchawad is whopping 50%. In Pune, octroi amount comes to around 51k for W6, while in PCMC, it is tad over 25k.

Pimpri-Chinchwad (PCMC), as uncle has one home there.
We were thinking of taking address on the property which falls outside octroi limits, but then dropped the idea. No point in doing this type of " chindhi-giri ".[;)]

Will you be driving the xuv ? Iam eagerly waiting for a ownership review from you it will be very well written and unbaised view from you and at the same times we will also know some very good critical points about the xuv since you love mahindra so much [;)]

Love M & M. LoL.
I will surely drive it, but it won't be with me as my regular car but I will surely take her on long ride, in different terrains (only soft roading) & give feedback about it. The only drawback in my review - It will be compared with a sedan in its price bracket, say Laura or similar. But I will try my best to keep review taking into consideration it being a UV.
