Excellent Review, very helpful. I am going to have the beast by next week i.e. (August 2015). I have chosen S4+ Black 7 seater. My problem is that there is no user reviews in the Internet for this varient (S4+). The dealership salesman also don't know the detail features of the car. a)Power windows switch positions, b) eyebrow lights illuminate like s10 or is just a show, c) does the middle row seats fold entirely or only the back rest folds, d) ski racks / spoilar attached or not ? e) Mild off-road drive possible? Like uttrakhand, J&K, himachal Pradesh, etc. Can't effort 4WD due to budget constraints. Hope that S4+ fulfill the desire of mild off-road traveling.

7 seater has got good seats and comfort won't be an issue. I am currently driving a S10 (my partner owns it) and since S4+ is also mHawk then its ride, handling, brakes and engine are same as S10 and the are just brilliant.

I am not aware if these ski racks etc or other things but mild off reading is something this car feels home at. It simply takes in anything you throw at it; such a brilliant mechanical ruggedness it has got. Rod, broken roads are no roads; Scorpio takes then all with an exceptional ease.

BTW S4+ is the one with ABS and Airbags, right? It's a good choice then.

Eyebrows I am not sure but I guess they are there in every version.

I have been received my black Scorpio S4+, 7 seater yesterday I.e. 17/8/2015 evening with only 3KM odo and now it is only 37KM I drove with a TC No. 499. Now more 5+10 working days for a number plate and another 90 days for RC card. I'm going to have life time road tax at WB. There is so many accessories and fittings required. This car has a raw feelings compared to my figo tdci titanium. Next time I will try to put some driving and user experience for upcoming S4+ users. Thanks vipul for giving me the confidence. As you have mentioned, Scorpio is a very different animal from these other modern diesels; especially the Hyundai CRDi ones. They are very silent and refined and so is the Scorpio, but the way Scorpio puts down the raw power makes it special.

The speeds at which you can hit the bad patches in Scorpio; you won't even think those numbers in a monocoque compact SUV (are they really SUVs). Properly high and commanding seating position, a super responsive engine under the hood, a well calibrated steering for SUV standards and we'll calibrated brakes with a very absorbent suspension makes this new Scorpio a very confident vehicle, especially after one has driven an older gen Scorpio, the person will be amazed to see how much it has gained. No wonder it is easy to spot speeding Scorpios on highways these days.

And yes, a proper RWD SUV is a proper RWD SUV. You will discover some of its distinct advantages as well as the hidden fun factor during your ownership, something the front wheel driven kids can never offer.

Hi Pratik, New Gen Scorpio S4+ 4WD is the perfect buy with respect to mild offloading and all terrain driving. To mention the drawback's Scorpio comes with Apollo tyre now instead of Bridgestone. Despite mentioning Bridgestone tyre while ordering I was delivered Apollow HT tyre fitted to my vehicle. I am looking for a change of my tyre to Perilli AT for better performance, comfort fuleservice and longevity. At this point my question is why mahindra upsize the wheel from 16" to 17". Review and suggestions are welcome on this point raised by me. Now fittings of a foglamp, 2din music system with rear view camera plus GPS fittings would cumbersome for settings. Scorpio remote lock is provided by Nippon but in lower model they provide autocop remote lock @ 5.5K of which actual cost by Nippon is 3K. There is no alloy wheels supplied by mahindra. In the rear side there is a plastic muscular black cladding both side of the rear glass is also missing in S4, S4+ but not mentioned any where. Spoiler, Ski Rack is also additional accessories.

Joudip, thanks for your info. I heard that 4 wheels are of alloy but the 5th one supplied is of steel. Is it not so?? Also it is confirmed by multiple people on some forum that the 'plastic muscular black cladding' has been removed now from all versions. Can you tell me about the reputed dealers at around Kolkata??

Found this video on youtube, It was posted on 28th Aug 15 saying "Possible new variant of the current gen scorpio was spotted testing few weeks back."

Even if they are testing New variant, why it is highly camouflaged?

@joydip29 I am very much interested to see the interiors of the s4+ variant. Especially the door pads at the front and rear. It is given in the brochure that s4+ comes with power window switches on door pads.I doubt whether its only on driver side or on all four doors and whether door pads have arm rests and bottle holders.Could you please help me posting pics of the four door pads. If u don't mind, please do share your ownership experience.

Hello everybody,
New Gen Scorpio S4+ 4WD is a nice choice, but whether it is supplied with 17" Alloys or Still Rim that I don't know. In normal cases alloys only supplied with the higher version (S-8, S-10), 4WD is equipped with dana 44, insteade of 35 and shift on fly technology which is very powerful and user friendly. Only problem is in contact with water the 4WD become malfunctional.
S4+ equipped with 4 power windows and the switchs are attached with each door and driver door has 4 swit to control each window glass with one child lock switch. Child lock switch is take over the control of rear windows. In each door there is hand rest which positions far behind thus power window switchs are also placed awkward. Driver and Navigator seat are not equipped with arm rest but the door side hand rest is there. Door pad, seats, dashboard and indoor is combine color of black and Gary looking better than before. It's my personal opinion that this 3rd gen Scorpio drastically improved NHV. Although I have changed the stock Apollo HT tyre with Pirelli ATS.
This may added some point to reduced the NHV. Photographs will be added soon as possible for your convenience. Regards Joydip.

As per post from Autocar india mahindra is planning to launch another updated version of Scorpio Automatic, Autobox from "Aisin". Current Autobox is derived from "DSI" of Australia.

"Mahindra recently introduced the updated Scorpio automatic in India. The Scorpio gets the same automatic gearbox seen in the earlier car, which is a six-speed unit from DSI of Australia, but is now tweaked to improve shift quality.

Our sources tell us that this gearbox however is only a stopgap arrangement, as Mahindra is working on bringing the new Aisin six-speed automatic gearbox for the new Scorpio in 2016. It will be mated to the same, 2179cc mHawk engine producing 118bhp and 28.55kgm of torque.

This new gearbox by Aisin will be a latest-generation transmission (known as ‘Version 4’), which is yet to be launched, and an improvement on the current six-speed TF-80SC unit that drives cars like the Volvo S80, Peugeot 508 and Cadillac SRX. The unit will be first launched in the XUV500 automatic in 2016."

Hi NM9488, This is really useful information and good news for A/T driver's. In my openion Now Scorpio utterly need a 6th M/T gear for more efficient H/T efficiency. Please don't mention XUV500. Coz RWD lovers may not try negotiation, hence deprived.

Current AT version of Scorpio is 6 speed version. Main concern is whenever mahindra test & launch anything e.g. they tested XUV5OO for 4-5 years, TUV3OO for 2-3 years, S101 is still under testing... the final product comes with so many issues. Then mahindra work on the released product & solve the issues. But customer who buy mahindra vehicle face frustration.

Current AT gearbox is tried & tested for years but upcoming new gearbox by Aisin will be a latest-generation transmission (known as ‘Version 4’), which is yet to be launched so it is under testing product by the manufacturer company. Then mahindra will test that Autobox on Scorpio as well as XUV5OO. Hope this time they will give niggle free Mahindra vehicle.

^^No Bolero is coming for now, at least for next 2 years. If due to felling sales M&M prepone the plan then I can't say.
2018 is the plan for an entirely new Bolero and that's official

After my new age xuv500, there has been another Mahindra addition to the family. My younger brother got a new generation Scorpio s10 automatic yesterday. Blue colour looks amazing. Could not find much on the new generation automatic here on the forum. will update the details soon.
