14f78u94_mahindra-ekuv100_625x300_09_January_20.jpg

The Mahindra eKUV100 is one of the most anticipated electric vehicle launches this year and will see a full-size EV in the mass market space. While the model was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and now we have more details on the model's launch in India. Mahindra will be bringing the eKUV100 Electric in the next quarter, between April-June in 2020. Pawan Goenka, Managing Director and CEO, Mahindra & Mahindra confirmed the development at a recent event and also announced that the model will be brought with a price tag below ₹ 9 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Mahindra eKUV100 looks exactly identical to its petrol derivative, and we expect minimal changes on the production-spec version including possibly a revised grille, along with reworked headlamps and taillights. The interior will remain largely unchanged as well, but we expect to see a larger infotainment system in place and possibly a digital instrument console as well.

Mahindra eKUV100 electric mini SUV spied testing

mahindra-ekuv100-electric-suv-2.jpg

Mahindra has already confirmed that it will be unveiling the final-version of the eKUV100 at the 2020 Auto Expo and will be keeping its starting price under the Rs 9 lakh mark. Now, ahead of the upcoming launch, a test mule of the eKUV was spotted while it was on test in Chennai.

The test mule was partially covered in camouflage, hiding the elements which will make the electric KUV stand out from its standard cousin. The vehicle bore a red number plate and missed out on a tail-pipe, confirming that it indeed was a test mule of the eKUV100.

While technical details about the electric KUV are scarce at the moment, what can be confirmed is that with addition of a battery pack, the eKUV will land up weighing higher than the standard KUV. For the same reason, we believe Mahindra will be re-tuning its suspension and steering system. More details regarding the power-train and range are expected to come out closer to the Auto Expo.

Mahindra Atom electric spied on road – Reveals small size

mahindra-atom-electric-small-1.jpg

Ahead of the Auto Expo, Mahindra had recently teased the Atom in a short teaser. The Atom is a first of its kind electric quadricycle which the Indian OEM plans to launch sometime later in 2020 (Q3 most probably). While the Atom had debuted in its concept form at the 2018 Auto Expo, it will be revealed in its production-ready form for the first time at the 2020 Expo.

mahindra-atom-electric-small-2.jpg

Just few days before the Expo, a test mule of the Atom was spotted while it was on test in Chennai by YouTube channel Lemon Green Studios. The Atom looks like a typical quadricycle and has retained its boxy structure from the concept which was showcased 2 years ago. Post launch, the Atom will become the second quadricycle in the country, the first one being the Bajaj Qute, which is currently petrol powered. But Bajaj too is working on Qute EV, as the same has been spied on test with the badge QCAR EV.

Why should electric vehicle be quirky looking? reva, E20 and now this. Why can't normal cars be electric like eVerito, or eKUV. why design some thing hideous like this. Note, I am only talking from M&M perspective. I know Tata, and MG have come with some magnificent looking electric vehicles.

So when you have likes of XUV300, TUV, and even Quanto why this new abstraction of modern art running on road?
