Re: New Mahindra Reva NXR Launches in September 2012

The way I see it - this is the only way forward with the depleting oil resources. There is still some time for coal to become fully scarce, but till then electricity will be good alternative.
But before all this, there has to be proper supply of electricity, else we end up using generator, which would mean in reality we run reva not on electricity but diesel. [lol]

I went to their FB page and it seems that launch has been delayed for some reason. Does not seem it is going to be this November.

Wait till April to buy your electric car or bike, it will be cheaper

India plans to join countries such as the UK and the US to offer incentives and encourage people to drive electric and hybrid cars and two wheelers Mint reported.

The move, from April and which would cost the government Rs 300-500 crore a year, could enourage more people to buy electric cars and bikes in the country. The cost of a electric bike could come down as much as Rs 50,000 and Rs 1.5 lakh for cars once the subidies are introduced.

The biggest local beneficiaries could be Mahindra and Mahindra, which is eager to launch its E20, the four-door electric car later this year and Hero Electric, part of the Hero group. The move comes ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh unveiling the ambitious National Mission Plan for Electric and Hybrid vehicles on 9 January. The plan had been announced in the 2011 budget.

India is expected to spend at least Rs.22,500 crore by 2020 to promote electric and hybrid vehicles, of which the government will provide Rs.13,000-14,000 crore, and the remaining amount will be invested by the auto industry in research and development. By then, seven million electric vehicles will be on road.

A total of about 130,000 electric vehicles were sold in India in 2011-12, according to the Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles lobby group, Mint said.

Re: New Mahindra Reva NXR Launching Soon

New Mahindra electric car is e2o

Mahindra has officially revealed that the replacement of the Reva electric car will be called the Mahindra e2o. The e2o was earlier showcased at the Auto Expo as the Reva NX-R. We broke the news of the Reva NX-R being called the e2o in October last year.

According to Mahindra, the e2o is a result of the group’s vision of the ‘future of mobility’. It involves the creation of future-ready vehicles that meet the 5 Cs framework of – clean, convenient, connected, clever and cost effective.

The e2o will be manufactured at Mahindra’s new plant in Bangalore. This plant, according to the company, has a rated annual production capacity of 30,000 cars.

The Mahindra e2o will come with an electric motor that derives power from 48-volt lithium-ion batteries capable of powering the car for about 100km on a single charge. Mahindra sees promise in this project and is considering leasing out the batteries which are an expensive component to replace. With prices likely to range from Rs 5.5-6 lakh, India’s latest EV won’t be cheap but SOPs on electric cars could bring prices down in the future.

Re: New Mahindra Reva NXR Launching Soon

Today I have seen Yellow color Reva NXR in Bangalore near ITPL. Since car was going in other direction I could not check the number plate but seeing the driver I can say that it was not a Test car. But I cannot claim the above.

Did Mahindra launched NXR?

Mahindra Reva to go ahead with electric car E2O launch in March

Mahindra Reva, the electric car arm of India's largest utility vehicle maker, Mahindra & Mahindra has decided to go ahead with the roll out the first electric car 'E2O' in March, despite the Finance Minister not extending the subsidy for electric cars, which got terminated last fiscal.

The finance minister P Chidambaram while extending the benefits for importing critical components like battery and electronic components for electric cars did not roll out the National Mission for Electric & Hybrid Mobility which was announced a couple of months back.

Chetan Maini, Chief of Technology and Strategy at Mahindra Reva is disappointed that there was no intervention for electric cars from the government.

Talking to ET, Maini said, "On one hand the government is talking about energy security and tackling urban pollution, and the medium to resolve these issues through electric cars was not supported. While the electric vehicle policy was announced a few months back, we are hoping for it to be implemented quickly, so that the much needed subsidy is extended for the segment to grow,"" added Maini.

Maini added, "The subsidy would have been welcome, but now we will have to look at our internal strategy to launch the product, with the hope that the policy will be soon implemented."
