In this day and age you got to pick a car that offers 4 things:
- features (especially safety)
- excellent mileage (fuel price is only going to increase)
- excellent A.S.S
- good price

If you want a 5 + 2 seater, Ertiga sets the gold standard and walks away with the Gold medal.

Having said that, if you want to show power on the road (size matters), and do a bit of offroading, then you may have to pick a SUV like Storme.

Off topic:
Since I am planning to buy a small automatic car, I would like to squeeze in this point:
If you want a small car with automatic transmission with all 4 points ticked, sorry, that great car is yet to be made in India.

The yet to be launched all new Hyundai i10 Grand would tick all boxes except probably FE. How can one expect good FE in a petrol automatic[;)]. It should return around 13-14KM/L in city and 16-17KM/L in highway driving conditions which is very good IMHO.

Do you have any links that confirms that i10 Grand would return 13-14/L in city with A/c? I doubt it since i10 Grand has the same kappa engine that i10 has.

i10 too would tick all the boxes except FE. And FE is important to me especially in the City with A/c on. Having experienced Santro AT, i10 AT and i20 AT, I find it difficult to go with a car that gives FE of less than 10. That fuel meter needle is always in a hurry to go to extreme left.

@jarpickle

I think the I10 discussion is about @rafians requirement and not of @Surfer, the thread is being hijacked a little which created this confusion[lol].

Friends, I think the rafian discussion should continue in his car requirement thread

Now thats a very very tough choice.
However toget you started,
Storme is true Blood SUV with spartan/plain yet very elegant interiors.

XUV W4 is still a Softroader with lots of whistles along with Airbags.

Ertiga Diesel was best bet in terms of mileage with average 15 in city 18 in highways, comfort than rest, comfortable 5 seater with ability to car more.

Practically Comparing Ertiga with the rest Storm and XUV 5OO.

+ve
-Eased parking and can take on local roads
-Good FE
-Overall can buy Top model

-Ve
-That SUV Grunt and stanz
-Requires frequent downshifting.
-Can't go in other terrains.
