The confirmation comes from Manohar Bhat, Head of Marketing & Sales, Kia Motors India. He says that the all-new SUV will go into production by early 2019. The Kia SUV would be heavily inspired by the SP2i and SP Concept. It will get the signature Tiger-nose grille, which is seen on all the other Kia vehicles.

Kia SUV launch earlier than expected as India plant is almost ready – Video

Kia Motors’ Indian manufacturing facility which is coming up in Anantapur, Andra Pradesh, would become operational in early 2019. Kia SP2i could feature HUD & fully digital instrument cluster - Report

Citing an undisclosed source, a new report from Autocar India says that the list of probable features for the Kia SP2i is a long one. Its main features are expected to include fully digital instrument cluster (first-in-segment), ventilated front seats, electric adjustment for the driver’s seat (first-in-segment), head-up display (first-in-segment), onboard Wi-Fi (first-in-segment), 360-degree camera, wireless charger, and an ambient lighting package.

Kia India showroom first photos from Noida dealership

Kia India is all set to launch their first car in India in the coming months. As per reports, their new plant is ready and has started trial production. First made in India Kia car will be the SP concept, which is based on Hyundai Creta platform. Launch will most likely take place by April 2019.

Ahead of car launch, Kia India has formed their dealer network, who will assist the company in car sales as well as service. First such dealer is from Noida. Images of the Kia India dealership in Noida have now been leaked on the internet.

Kia SP Concept SUV could launch with BS-IV engines

It is likely that Kia will choose to introduce the SUV with BS-IV engines initially in an effort to price it competitively with existing BS-IV rivals. The high cost involved in upgrading to a BS-VI-compliant diesel motor could make the SP more expensive than its peers – a situation that Kia wants to avoid in a price-sensitive Indian market.

Kia SP2i to be available in a sporty variant with an exclusive engine - Report

The sporty Kia SP2i will have a more appealing exterior with a body kit and an exclusive interior trim among other styling bits. Most important of all, it will pack a punchier, 140 PS 1.4-litre T-GDI turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine will send drive to the wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Kia will offer paddle shifters in this variant and may tune the suspension differently for a sportier drive.

Kia’s third made-for-India model to be a cross-hatch

The cross-hatchback is expected to be based on the next-gen Rio hatchback. The current Rio is sold as a hatchback and as a sedan abroad, though markets like China and Russia also get a cross-hatch version called the K2 Cross. The China-spec cross-hatch is 40mm longer and 30mm wider than the Rio hatchback it is based on, which measures 4,064mm in length, 1,725mm in width and 1,450mm in height. The Kia cross-hatch for India will measure less than four metres in length to qualify for small car excise benefits.

Kia SP SUV’s trial production to start this month

South Korean car manufacturer Kia is all set to launch its first product – the SP Concept based mid-size SUV in India. Trial production of this SUV will commence from this month. Kia confirmed in an event held in Puducherry that it has plans to Introduce new cars every six months after the launch of their first product. Production version of the SP Concept is likely to hit Indian market in the second half of 2019.

Kia Motors India Start Trial Production Of New Compact SUV At Anantapur Plant

Kia Motors India has rolled out the production version SUV based on the SP Concept from its Anantapur facility as part of the trial production. The company commenced trial production of the SP Concept SUV that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo which will be going on sale later this year in India. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu launched the trials along with Kia Motors' Managing Director K Shim in the presence of South Korea Ambassador to India, Shin Bongkil. The South Korean car maker commenced construction of its plant Anantapur in the last quarter of 2017 and the plan to commence trial production has run ahead of schedule.

Carnival to be Kia’s second launch in India, specs revealed

Following the SP2i SUV, Kia will launch the Carnival minivan in India, as per a report from Overdrive. The company will assemble it from imported knocked-down kits at the Anantapur plant, as seen in the image below.

The Indian-spec Kia Carnival measures 5,155 mm in length, 1,985 mm in width and 1,740 mm in height. It has a 3,060 mm wheelbase. Under the hood, there’s the R 2.2 E-VGT diesel engine that produces 202 PS at 3,800 rpm and 45 kg.m (441 Nm) of torque at 1,750-2,750 rpm. An 8-speed automatic transmission will send drive to the front wheels.

Kia Kerala dealerships appointed

Kia will have a pan-India presence from day one, with dealerships in 35 cities initially. Kerala-based Alyson Group recently announced on their Facebook page that it will be the dealer principal for the Korean carmaker in Kannur, Calicut and Malappuram. Alyson Group is an established name in two-wheeler and four-wheeler retail with multiple showrooms already in their fold.
