Re: Honda to hike prices by up to 2.6%, Maruti to follow soon

One the other hand slow sellers like Fiat,Ford,Chevrolet are reducing the price and giving away mouth watering offers. it seems they are not affected by currency fluctuations

well that's not a great step by Honda at this point of time when the festive season is approaching and secondly since they are only selling petrol cars they should be doing the vice-versa.

First of all Honda's petrol cars are hot selling a big deal. On top of that, price hike. Are they taking Indians for granted as there is festive season and people badly want to buy a car on auspicious day, so they will milk out the premium as much as possible.

I dont think it is wise to take this step especially when Honda knows that it has got only the Petrol mills to sell which in the current scenario is a tough job to do. A price hike would further deviate a few prospective buyers.

Because they are sure about Indians. People will buy Maruti product even for higher cost.

I think both the Jazz and Brio are selling well. Let me add that Honda were never a big discount seller.

Re: Monthly Discounts / Schemes on Indian Cars.

I think the extra amount collected due to the price hike would go towards paying the salary of the company strategist who thought of this scheme.
Generally this works with people who are sitting on the fence, nudging them to take a decision. However in this inflationary market; would probably be counter productive, with people going in for company/models which otherwise would have been a second choice.
For e.g if you are getting Brio at the same price point as Beat diesel, then obviously you would think twice.

Re: Updates of Price Hike on Indian Cars

One more point. Once there was a very puny price hike, I think in MS. I asked one who should know, his judgement was this was just to stop discounting. Now he dealer would say that I am not asking for the hike part, that is all.

This was really expected by me since last one month are so, apart from all the problems mentioned by the companies, it has become a money making trick just before the festivals Dussera/Diwali to cash on the sentiments of the buyers, this is something really bad !![anger]

It is already one of the non-VFM vehicle from Audi & hiking it further by 3% is rip-off. The sooner Audi assembles Q3 in India, the better. Now, buying Q5 looks far better deal than Q3 for sure.
