Welcome to TAI and congrats on the Xcent.

1. Seat covers - I would say go for normal ones and ensure that the fit is proper. I have not heard about the stitch-to-seat covers from the dealer and can not comment. 6k extra looks too much as normal art leather ones can come from aftermarket at this price.

2. Scuff plates - Confirm from a good aftermarket shop and ensure that they do not cut/splice any factory wiring. Dealer may say otherwise. The key is to revert back to stock setup without any trace of the modification.

3. Coating - It is better to do antirust coating as early as possible because the underbody will be clean for the coat to stick properly. For the paint, you can try paint sealant. Many experts here suggest againts Teflon coating on new cars.
Thanks ice_wise.
I have asked the SA to fit the seat covers that are coming free. 6K extra is too much.

Also my car arrived today at the stockyard and I did pre registration checks. VIN code is - MALA841CLGM160607. The tenth character is 'G' so its 2016 but how can I identify the month of manufacturing. As its a 2016 model, in worst case manufacturing month would be January. Is it okay if the car is 1 or 2 months old?

I also found a very small scratch which I asked SA to fix before delivery.

i have recently added scuff plates, not the illuminated ones, got it from ebay for 650, has double tape on the back for sticking it.
Scuff plates are looking good. I am getting similar scuff plates from the dealer @750. [:)]

Hello Friends,

> I am getting free seat covers(Normal Fit) from the dealer. There is another seat cover that will be stitched to the seats. Dealer is asking 6K extra for that. Not sure if its worth.

> I want to fit illuminated scuff plates but the dealer is not having it. They have normal steel plates. Should I get them fixed from outside or will it void the warranty?

> Should I go for anti rust and body coating. Is it required on new car? Can I go for them after 1 year?
. [:)][:)]
1. I have got the Stitched to seat Covers. But can be removed without much fuss, if required.
2. Doing any kind of modifications, which incl. wires, etc, is sure way to void the warranty. Doesn't matter how well you hide it, in case of any inspection, if found, your are at loss of warranty

3. Anti rust coating is not really required, unless you are in coastal area. These days, all car manufactures, give anti rust coating at Manufacturing stage. So it's not really required.

Hi,
The Stock speakers sounds good with 55w output from after market stereos.
I sold my stock speakers to olx buyer, he confirmed me.
The output goes to max (55w) only at high volumes. The RMS which speakers receive from aftermarket HUs is around 15-25w only at normal volume levels.

But increase in music quality is expected as better quality of music is fed to the speakers due to better processing qualities of the HU.

i have fitted new horns from outside (not from dealer) but as the location of stock horn was very tight, the new horns were setup on other location which needed a cut on the horn wiring. will this create any problem in my warranty?

P.S: i have fitted drls from dealer for which he had to cut the headlight wire for connection.

If you read the owner's manual carefully, it is usually mentioned that any accessory which results in tampering/alteration of stock wiring in any form voids warranty.

Dealers play warranty games just to push customers to opt for their overpriced accessories. If the horn change goes unnoticed to the dealer or if the dealer is cooperative enough, then you may get a warranty claim easily. But technically, your warranty is void.

For DRLs, I doubt that the dealer will not honour warranty claim as it is a dealer fitment and should have been fitted properly (without altering stock wiring). Other dealers, however, may not approve your warranty claim stating the wire cut for DRLs. I hope you have a bill of the DRLs.

yes, i have the drl bill and i usually approach the same service station from where i have done the fitments and purchased the car so i do not think there should be any problem.

I guess, you already asked that in "Technical Problems & Solutions", Any way, there is no such issues reported yet. I;ve driving mine about 15000+ Kms, and never faced any steering problems. It behaves very well.

Guys, I did not get any warranty documents from the dealer. I asked him about warranty of batteries, tyres, music systems etc but he told me that user manual itself is the warranty document.

Could you guys please confirm if this is ok?

If I am not wrong, user manual is the warranty document for standard warranty. For extended warranty, you will get a seperate booklet.

Hyundai owners can confirm, but this is the case with Maruti.
