hi nick i too have changed the oil at 5000 kms but some where on the net i have read that it should not be changed as hyundai is using some special oil for first 10000 kms ,will be giving my verna for second service on monday or tuesday and will update the result.

Re: Life with the all New Hyundai Verna

petrol verna right? they could have called for a 5000km oil change instead of saying 10k only, we do risk ruining the engine that way.

Re: Life with the all New Hyundai Verna

diesel oils get black the first minute you start the engine from oil change, mine being a petrol was as black as a diesels oil. what oil did you fill in service centers oil or synthetic? the service centers use a very cheap grade of oil whose rating is approved to meet standard of oils of 2004

Re: Life with the all New Hyundai Verna

joy99 I've decided to keep the car for a few more months.

so now its been a while since the verna has been around and am pretty sure many guys must be loving their cars.
as well as there would be some who regret buying it or are facing issues.

heres a list of reported issues
issues found on more then 20 cars will be marked *
issues found on less then 20 cars #
issues found on less then 10 cars ^
remaining unmarked would be 1 or 2 cars.

sources are from my service centre for the cars they service, total number would be higher.

*gear box/clutch master, slave cylinder: Hard gear shifts/unable to shift gears, grinding noise while slotting into a gear.
- this issues has been found on quiet a few cars and they have been replacing master/slave cylinders, repairing/replacing the gear box.

*reverse sensor keeps on beeping even though there is no obstacles behind: Found on quiet a few.
- reverse sensor replaced

^ ac ineffective, gas leak, compressor issue.
Cooling is not effective or no cooling at all with lots of compressor noise.
- one instance was a leak in the condenser, others were leaks somewhere else, and few were compressor related.
- replaced condensor, leak test, or replace compressor.

* bumper fragile cheap flimsy quality along with fog lamp mounts.
- bumper or fog lamp breaks of at slightest impact, huge number of cars for this one.
-replace bumper and broken fog lamp.

engine related issue
- overhaul

^ gear box oil leak
Replace seal.

^ steering rattle
- popular issue on i10s and i20
- solution got from higher ups

* suspension thad noise, while going in to potholes
- not sure about any concrete solution

# rattling at various places, most complaints of rattling in dashboard with plastic type of noise.
- solution based on problem.

^ premature brake pad wear and discs
- due to hard braking -3 cars normal use 6 cars

Re: Life with the all New Hyundai Verna

I agree.

Sometimes gears are hard to shift. Even if the clutch is properly used.

Didn't find any problems in parking sensor. So even if one sensor is damaged or not working propwrly will it affect the overall sensor system ?

AC . One day same thing happened. Drove some 50kms and in between I observed the ac was not cooling. It was only once. Will keep on observing. BTW this issue was in i20 as well. Many i20 users said auto ac didnt work.

What should I even say about bumper. Bad quality and have seen many verna's with broken fog lamps amd right bumper part. This is bad.

Can you please explain what steering rattle is once again ?

Suspension issue. Faced only once.

Even a friend of mine was asking to keep a check on brake pads :/ my santro and i10's breakpads lasted 45000kms.

Re: Life with the all New Hyundai Verna

i think its one sensor issue, and the sensors aren't cheap, they are expensive.

the i20 has a undersized 90cc compressor and not well designed ac vent hence.
our verna has a 122cc compressor, the previous verna had a 160cc variable displacement swash plate compressor

when going over rough or pothole roads at certain speeds or higher it was noted that the steering column would make rattling noises, hyundai had tried many times to fix the issue but failed, they just keep replacing parts now, so question is what after warranty?
on the verna i read a notice that vernas made after june came with modified steering but the 3 complaints of steering rattle i know of are of cars produced after that.

lets keep a check on our brake pads, now with monsoon coming up well know lots more.
One of the guys who faced brake pad wear said it could be related to the lots of rust accumulating on the disc right after you wash your car or leave it unused for a couple of days.

and another thing is uneven panel gaps.
