I know this cause i have personally seen a 250w RMS rated Seas L2Roy taking more than 500 watts. 2 of these subs were powered by masconi zero 4 in one of my friends car.

it won't blow, actually subs can take much more than what they are rated for like the example i have specified above and i have seen rainbow profi series speaker taking more than 150 watts. Chameleons taking more than 200 watts and so on. High quality audio components usually are capable of much more than what they are rated for. And Rated power is the lowest power at which a system will perform best.
So you are saying even if amp is more powerful than sub there won't be any issues right?

@Vinie,

How about going for Focal Krx2 for front setup and moving my current Rainbows to back and using Infinity Kappa 4 to power the componenets. I will use my current DD Audio C4C 4 channel amp for my subwoofer(C4C can be bridged so that they can be used to power sub). Will this setup be ok?

Hi sankar yes you can do this
But in bridged mode also the c4c can output only 160w
If you choose the solid 1 it outputs 300w
Which is almost double

Mine is a focal sub rated at 300RMS so connecting it to a amp which has 500RMS won't be an issues right?

hi sankar

i wouldn't recommend

going for a more powerful amp on your focal sub

rather just match it well with a 300w rms amp

because ive personally seen the same sub woofer you have

burn the coil on an auditor 2 ch amplifier giving it 400w rms power

How about wait for 6 month save money then go for a complete upgrade instead of going for a mono amp now?

1) Changing to Active setup from my current passive setup.

2) Audition Bit Ten Signal Processor

3) Focal KRX2 Components for Front speakers which will be powered by DD Audio C5C or Infinity Kappa 4 or Focal Solid 4

4) I already have Rainbow DLC 6.2 which will be powered by DD Audio C4C

5) Infinity Kappa 1 Monoblock or DD Audio CM1000 Monoblock

6) Twin Dual Coil Subwoofer (Focal or Morel)

7) Entire wiring will be upgraded to 0 guage wires and will go for RF wiring kit or Connection wiring kit.

8) Whole car will be damped including upgrades to existing damping, boot damping including damping areas like spare wheels also.

Your inputs needed on the setup please.

No need of this at this moment, it needs too much expertise on the listener part as well.

2) Audition Bit Ten Signal Processor

Same as the reply for first one.

3) Focal KRX2 Components for Front speakers which will be powered by DD Audio C5C or Infinity Kappa 4 or Focal Solid 4

Rainbow/Micro precision would be better but i have never listened any focal compos so no comments. Instead go for any musconi like one120.4 or AS100.4.

4) I already have Rainbow DLC 6.2 which will be powered by DD Audio C4C

Same as the reply for third one. Though i think your existing setup is sufficient.

5) Infinity Kappa 1 Monoblock or DD Audio CM1000 Monoblock

DD CM1000 without any second thoughts, its definitely gonna pump out 1200watts

6) Twin Dual Coil Subwoofer (Focal or Morel)

if you want boom boom then DD otherwise Morel

7) Entire wiring will be upgraded to 0 guage wires and will go for RF wiring kit or Connection wiring kit.

Even a 2 gauge will be fine but 0 will be best.

8) Whole car will be damped including upgrades to existing damping, boot damping including damping areas like spare wheels also.

That would be good.

Your inputs needed on the setup please.

If i am sticking with passive setup then i need to buy Focal KRX2 or similar compos at 40k range i haven't looked at Rainbow series as of now. Also i won't need a new 4 channel amp as DD Audio C4C will easily power front and rear compos.

Bit confused on which mono to go - Which other comparable amps are there which has specs similar to DD Audio CM1000?

Will CM1000 have enough power for 2 Focal P-30 12" subwoofer?

If i stick to pasive setup then i don't need substantial budget.

Focal KRX2 or similar spec compos - 40k
Mono Amp - 25k
Focal P-30 sub - 8k(I already own one[;)])
Wiring - 5k
Damping Rear doors boot floor and boot lid -10k

Total will come around 90k

No other comes close in this price bracket.
BTW this amp is been powering two dd2512 subs in a civic. So don't underestimate this amp. It'll pump out 1200 watts at one ohm load.

hi vivek the sub woofers sankar plans to use are 300w rms @ 4 ohms

you are suggesting him to buy an amplifier which is 1000w rms @ 1 ohm only

and does not support 4 ohms or 2 ohms
