Email at cr@hmil.net? Those are even worst lot of people. I threatened Mr. Shym Menon, their regional head by going to consumer court for a friend and lot of others who are facing a genuine steering rattle in their i10 and i20's. No use. Those are not worth calling as human beings. In fact, the above mentioned gentleman told hyundai A.S.S. not to take any complaints from anywhere in India with regards to Steering Rattle.

You can cross verify my statements. If their head person is like this then you can imagine the rest.
Looks like the Hyundai is still not taking the steering rattle issue seriously.

BTW Amit, did you get the air filter changed? Also do post the service details in this thread: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/indian-auto-news/1483-actual-maintenance-cost-cars-india.html.

Akash, they didn't had the air filter in stock[frustration]. By the way, I went there because the brakes became loose. Somehow the brake pads were reduced in size, so got them replaced. I also changed the spark plugs as they were almost nearing end of their life.

This was not a service. My first paid service is still 2 months away. Somehow loosing the confidence in Hyundai. As till date there were 50 i20's and 35 i10's with steering rattle complaint. The SA said almost everyone came back with same problem after few k kms.

Guys, I will be getting getz 4.5J 13" steel rims by this weekend. Now the final question is, should I go for Michelin XM1+ or Turanza ER60 175/70 R13?

That's very pathetic on Hyundai's part! Is Hyundai really that bad in spares stock or is that i am lucky to be in Chennai with factory around here! But still air filter no stock is highly pathetic!

BTW 17k kms needs a tire rotation badly , i hope you have done it already.

An update --
Recently put Garware ice cool shield on rear glass. Good result observed. Its cost was 2800/-.

A question --
Recently I changed my brake pads. however, when I press my brake pedal it generates krr karr kind of noise. My car is equipped with ABS. Also the brake pedal has become soft. Need to pump more to brake.

Doesn't inspire the confidence of ABS braking. Is anything wrong or its normal with i10?

Do let me know your comments.

Ice cool shield is something similar to the one we put in front windshield? How good is the effect? Is there any difference when you enter inside the car after parked outside under the hot sun?

And also i would like to know how exactly and when do you hear your steering rattle noise?

vz1hrp-- the problem was not with brake pads, but air had been trapped within the brake assembly including ABS. Hence had to pump more. They today did "bleeding" with help of electronic device called gscan. And the problem is resolved.

dhaya-- Garware ice cool shield is for front windshield. I have put the same on rear screen.
Results -- very effective. Has cut the heat substantially. Yes feels good after I enter the car when its parked under hot sun. Cost, 2800/-. Worth more than VKool. Also cuts the glare of headlights during night.

Steering rattle-- When I go only over rough road there is kat krr kat krr noise. There are almost 6 lac i10 and i20 together having this issue.

Good to know amiti that your problem has been solved. Any idea as to how air can get trapped within the brake assembly? Is this problem specific for cars having ABS only?

No idea, as how air got trapped inside. However I was present there and I could see air being pumped out using above method. This really solved the problem.

As per the SA, this problem is specific to brakes with ABS. My take is it can happen to non ABS cars also. However the chances are less. As both have brake oil and the air is trapped in the tubes which carry this oil.

Need your valuable suggestions here on my decision below,

Decision 1 -- Sort out the steering rattle issue by changing the entire rack assembly and upgrade my foot ware to 175/70 R13 with alloys. But lose on the originality of my car.

Decision 2 -- Sell off my i10 and buy brand new Alto k10

Decision 3 -- Sell off my i10 and buy used sx4 vvt zxi which is less used

I have arrived on the above due to steering rattle and recently faced brake not working effective issue.

Amiti do you really think that changing the rack assembly will sort out the problem because AFAIK this is present in all Hyundai i10's &20's?
but I also think that why sell a car that you bought with so much joy and passion.

Thanks for your comments guys. However I am not inclined to change the rack as I will lose originality of my car. So one option is to carry along with same car and upgrade to tires and alloys.

OT - I am not brand conscious. I have driven all brand cars when I was staying abroad. What I need is just peace of mind and a car free from such problems. hence I was inclined towards alto k10. I don't mind to go a step down. If you still look at my signature, it reads a hot hatch or a used car, but now i feel small is better and MSIL will be tension free. What say?

Akash, dhaya Vibhor and entire TAI team, I need your inputs as well.

Better put the upgrades plans on hold until you have decided to stay with your car for atleast 2-3 years.

Amit, Alto K10 is indeed a great car, however it lacks the basic safety features like Airbags/ABS. IMO if you are ok with the low fuel efficiency of SX4(though the VVT has enhanced FE), then go for it. I would definitely recommend you to go for it.
If you are okay with the used cars, there are a lot of cars which will fit in your budget. I am presuming your budget to be around 4-5lacs.
