Hyundai Grand i10 & Xcent: Technical Problems & Solutions

recently during driving on pune expressway i noticed a strange thing with the steering. as soon i crossed 110kmph, the steering instead of becoming harder, became light and free flowing, even lighter than it is when the speed is low. noticed it again while driving back, earlier i have driven at 140kmph on sea link and the steering was very tight.

has anyone other than me noticed this change? because this is very dangerous as the car started moving as per the road pattern because of the light steering after 110kmph.

should the window button be backlight when the headlight is on because in my case only the drive side button is blue backlight, not others.

Grand i 10 feeling doesn't offer great fedback.Let other users of the car respond.I have driven my friends ride in windy sections, After driving swift at 80's on the same, when i tried to touch the same with Grand i 10 i didnt have the confidence with steering,as it was so planted,very feeble.

i have xcent and i did not experience such behavior when i drove at 140kmph on sea link with cross winds.

I have purchased xcent s(petrol) two days back. Yesterday evening while parking the car some idiot kid on activa came from left side speedly and collided with front bumper. Left side lock of bumper is broken and also damaged. What should i do?? Claim the insurance or, Repair at local shop please help me?

Local body shop guy can actually do a neat job and fuse this one, but repainting would be necessary to do a spotless job. I wouldn't recommend claiming insurance, pay it from pocket and save that for your next year's no claim bonus.

Hi,
If you take the car to service center they may charge 3000 for new black bumper 4000 for painting. Try to fix it by Anabod paste and paint touch ups..

In My Xcent S option front LHS inner broken lightly i pasted and did paint touch ups.

3000 is too much for the black bumper. it will cost around 1000 rs and 3000rs for paint plus 500 labor.
anyways i won't suggest claiming insurance sinceyour car is just 2 days old. get it repaired after sometime

When I enquired about front bumper, they quoted 1200 for black bumper and whooping 4000 for painting. I finally settled down for touch up rather than changing bumper for such small scratches!

Today I have given xcent it to local body shop for repairing. About 1500 quoted.

HASS Has quoted 8500 for new bumper.

so they will be replacing that under warranty ? if they say they have contacted hyundai on the same , ask them to add your email as cc so that you can get a copy.
I have not opted for extended warrenty so did not discuss abouth the warrenty.
However the car was done in a day.
They removed the broken bolt and replaced with new bolt. total cost of New bolt + oil seal+Labour is around 850Rs.
I had also the 30K paid service done with the same and asked to check eact and every bolt.
They told me some engine bolts were slightly lose, So I guess that might be the reason for this failure. However the service center guys are firm about that something might have hit the pully and thats why it was broken.

But compared to our fellow TAIan who faced similar issue his dealer caused him so much pain, removeing entire engine etc. In my case they had no need to remove the engine.
They did not charge me anything extra (even toeing) and did everything I asked for

My Apr-2014 Xcent has been showing check engine sign from past few weeks, so i bought the ELM327 mini to get more details.
Its showing the trouble code as P0141, O2 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1, Sensor 2).
Will get it checked this weekend. Has anybody else faced this problem? Considering the fact that our car has been driven for only 4000 km, a sensor malfunction is a bit annoying. Hopefully this thing is covered in warranty.

Finally got the thing checked, after a rat managed to chew a hole the LHS Cowl Panel. The Check Engine light was result of rat trying to eat the wire that connects the O2 sensor.
Luckily total damage caused was only 459 Rs.

Rat ! after having read about it, I bought Rat kill paste from local market. I had put it under hood at corners, and near wheel Arc & shockers, i.e probably most of the places from where Rat can enter !, Hope that would work. I got scared more, when the car parked adjacent to mine, got screwed, due toRat problem. He had shell about 2000--3000/- for that !!!

Hi All,
I've been driving my new Xcent for about 2.5 months now. The odo is 2100kms. Yesterday, I was stuck at traffic for about 5-6mins and the engine was running. When I released the clutch to move forward, it stalled. This was unexpected because, I've managed to stall only once in these two months. Today in the morning, while driving in traffic, stalled the engine again. This got me thinking if I'm doing something wrong.
I realized that from the beginning I've been applying small accelerator inputs while moving from stand still. While coming back from office today, I tried to start off from standstill without using accelerator input and it stalls very easily.
If I have to start with using accelerator and without stalling, I have to release the clutch very gradually in 2-4 seconds, any faster and it will stall.

Is this behavior normal for Xcent? Does it always need to accelerator input to started moving quickly even on flat surface?
