that's Strange ! I don't know what happening here with many people, but Mine Xcent seems to be behaving differently :)
1. My Xcent gives alarm, when I try to unlock from inside, (After locking it with Remote)
2. If by chance any door remains unlocked/ajar, And then if i try to lock it, the Indicators do not blink ! and Cabin lights remain On. (in normal case, indicators blink and cabin lights goes off).

it has happened with me couple of times, but Let me try it once more !

Did you by any chance get it as an accessory during delivery?

Hello Folks,

Just a quick update on battery drain issue - had my car parked for 5 days as I was out of town. Was kind of worried about battery being drained but to my pleasant delight, it kicked off within a second, showing no sign of battery drain!! Very glad to say the least. This cements the fact that Hyundai has rectified the issue and new/prospective buyers and owners shouldn't worry about it anymore.

Cheers

There is a continuous buzzer, when the smart key is out while the ignition is on (and it's annoyingly loud, enough to be confused as the anti-theft alarm sound). But that's not actually the anti-theft alarm - there isn't anything like that in Xcent (Unless your dealer installed one for you). Anti-theft alarm typically sounds, well like 'burglar alarm' and the hazard indications will flash all around to grab attention.

I actually wanted that to buzz when the vehicle is on the move, and there is a door which is not ajar. However that doesn't work. Just that the cabin light, if set to switch on when door is open, will stay on and a small indicator lights up in the console.

Otherwise a less likely situation is that Hyundai did some smart cost cutting, some competitive features in, some less obvious things were silently dropped off (It has been happening recently with Elite i20, Then introduction of ABS standard across variants .. etc). When you bought your Xcent, it might have had that feature.

Yes @Akshat, I Bought mine in October 2014, and it works in my Car too. Key surely has sensor, which Car detects, when it's near the Car, so the Sound/Alarm/Indicator flashing will not be there. It works only when Key is far from Car.

Yesterday while driving my GRANDS CRANKSHAFT PULLEY SUDDENLY FELL OFF.
I herd metal should from the engine bay and then somethink falling on the ground. Parked the car aside and walked on the road to see that it was a pulley. After opening the hood i noticed its a crankshaft pully.
Called the Hyundai huys and they toed the car to their workshop.
In the workshop inspected the car so no signs of anything hitting from teh bottom or any other part damaged. They are saying that the pully bolt has broken.
A similar issue was faced bay a fellow GRAND owner who reported in the forum

Just cant imagine how can the crucial bolts of engine brake just like that

Some one Posted this on that Link. It's advisable to write to Hyundai and make it public to make some pressure on the Dealer.

Well I already did this and wrote on their FB page as well.
Just wondering what all should I check in the car to be sure that I am safe?

Imaging cruising on highway at 100KMPH something like this happens and probably it is noticed only when the complete engine oil is drained and some catastrophy happens.
Asked the dealer to check every possible bolt in the car, including brackes suspension etc.

It's Indeed an scary situation, Even I drive a lot on highways, and it's hard to imagine the outcome of such a incident !. There is practically nothing much that one can do in such a situation. We can check the regular things, but not every nut/bolt ! But I've never came across such things so far, (fingers crossed), hope the same for others too.

Manoj Xcent, really sorry for making you wait.. I am very lazy these days.. will do it soon.[roll]

So, regarding the anti-theft alarm, I feel its really essential to get it installed. Keeping the theft part aside, If one of the doors is not closed properly, and we lock the car without noticing it, the doors will not be locked. And we will not be aware of that.. and every-time you lock, you will have to see the cars indicators, for lock confirmation.. Sound would be very helpful in this.

I had a santro, if we don't close the doors properly, and lock the car, it would make an extra sound, telling you, "dude check the doors", but now, we will have to ensure all doors are closed. Also, for santro, I've upgraded the remote locking system with the latest one (autocop) as the old one refused to work. The latest one had two sensors, if the sensor senses any movement inside the car when the car is locked, alarm goes on. Even if the windows are not closed (by mistake) and you lock the car, it captures the outside sound and makes an alarm (it takes some 2 minutes before it starts sensing) . So if someone breaks the glass, it alarms. But there is a defect to this.. if a huge sound is made near the car, like diwali crackers or a baarath, with too loud music or drums, the car starts alarming. Apart from these, I felt the security is good.

But the new gen cars are removing the basic thing out. Feel bad for that.

I've inquired couple of shops, not in Bangalore, for the anti-theft kit, they quoted around 2500-2800 (I guess this doesn't come with sensor). I am planning to pay a visit to JC road in Bangalore. I hope it would be cheaper than the others. Need to find some time to visit JC road.

Till then I will make sure all the doors are closed properly before locking the car.[:)]

The above kit, that I've installed for my santro comes with the 2 remotes. The anti-theft alarm , that I inquired doesn't come with the remote. We can use our company given remote/keyless entry remote. Its just the anti theft module.
ok Brock. Please post the Alarm kit too.
